'just wondering how you find these?'
to be honest, I watch the site like a hawk.
It is literally our 2nd home.
Would average 2 or 3 times a year with my extended family and taking our 2 year old to enjoy time with grandparents and cousins in Batangas.
      :)

I have literally just spent about 3 hours looking for flights during this period to somewhere nice and warm.
    Thanks!

just go to your local pub…

      • or local massage parlor

It says the promo is valid for other Philippine destinations:

"Sydney to Boracay (Caticlan), Cebu, Kalibo, Manila or Puerto Princesa"

Any advice on which of these destinations is the best for beaches?
I'm told that Manila is only good for shopping.

    • +3

Been to Cebu a few times.

Definitely get out of the cities if you want good beaches.

Try Boracay, it's a renowned tourist destination there.

    • +1

Puerto Princesa would be the pick of them. (just my opinion) depends what you most like to do though?

I'm looking for relaxation and at least 1 day of warm weather.

      • +2

Short trip, maybe just stay at home with the heater on for 1 day.

    • +1

I'm trying to decide between Puerto Princesa and Boracay

You don't really need to wait for specials to travel within Phil, there's a lot of competition so one way fares on AirAsia / Cebu are about $50 to many domestic destinations normally. Boracay is the classic Gold Coast-ish party destination, it's very popular but it's also getting quite commercialised.

My pic for the best beach all-round beach would be Alona Beach. It's on Panglao Island, which is attached to the larger island province of Bohol. Alona has a good range of accommodation from luxury to budget, lots of eating options, and a good range of scuba, snorkelling, and island hopping and sightseeing options. It has its own bank / ATM within walking distance (in Philippines, cash is king) and transport options including taxi, trike and scooter rental. Alona Beach is about 30 minutes taxi ride ($10) from Tagbilaran city. You can fly direct Manila - Tagbilaran (1 hour), or you can catch the fast ferry (2 hours) from Cebu. There's plenty to do on Cebu Island, so you could handily do a Cebu / Bohol combined trip.

Although Alona is nice it its own right, if you get bored of beach things there's plenty to do on the larger island of Bohol. It's the location of the famous chocolate hills, the tarsiers, there's adventure parks, river restaurants and lots of natural attractions. There are many spruikers at Alona who will be more than happy to arrange all sorts of tours for you by boat, van or private car if you want to spend a little more. Or rent a scooter and explore yourself - apart from Tagbilaran city itself, in general the traffic is light.

If you want to stay close-ish to Manila, you could consider Puerto Galera. You reach it by taking a bus (2.5 hours, $6) or taxi (1.5 hours, $100) from Manila to Batangas port, then a ferry ($10) to one of the ports in PG. Once again, a range of accommodation options from luxurious to budget. The two main tourist areas are White Beach, famous for its fire dancers and cross dressing singers. It's also where to go for parasailing, sea kayaking, jet skiing etc. The other main tourist area is Sabang which is more nightlife-y, bars and restaurants. There's also lots of scuba diving sites are PG, so you might consider it for that. Once again traffic is pretty light so you can rent a scooter and explore some of the natural beauty such as Tamaraw Falls.

You can go to Puerto Princesa - Palawan is supposedly one of the most beautiful places on earth, but once you get there you need to take a 5-6 hour van ride north to El Nido to get to the tourist attractions. It's a bit more remote than some of the other options which may or may not be a bonus.

Its raining there these times …and travelling there is no picnic trust me…
In one week my friend hit a 6 yo kid who decided to just run out on the road, my other friends car got hit by a unlicensed 13 y.o with an uninsured motorbike. Guess who paid for both….
And m y friends 5 y.o daughter died from dengue fever, solid kid, slightly overweight but fine otherwise, then one day had a fever of 37,then gone in 2 days… They had no money so I paid for the funeral n stuff. Very tough culture with the kid in the house for a week, 5 other kids sleeping in the same house, looking at the coffin each day. Just really tough to see.
Anyway my point is sure it's a nice country but better expect things turned around a bit.
Seats on Cebu are the hardest by far, so bring a pillow and something to read while the flights delayed… Otherwise a great holiday

tl/dr unfortunate accident, another unlucky incident, followed immediately by an absolutely tragic event…'Otherwise a great holiday'

Im going again in 2 weeks time $160 return and in August $160 return so not a good deal anymore for this time around.

    • I hear you. We got flights, went late Feb, early March it was $124 return. Beyond insane. Pretty sure Melbourne to Sydney return that we needed with Jetstar was more $ . Best thing I have ever done though in terms of route. Once we are in Sydney it is direct and that's a better way for us. Flown loads of times over there Melb>Sing>Manila and Melb>Darwin>Manila and Melb>KL>Manila and even one time via Bali! (indirectly) this is my favourite, even outside of price, excluding a Philippines airlines flight Melb>Manila of course.

Did 11 trips Aus to Philippines last year normally Gold Coast via Singapore or Kl but when i can get for 160 return its cheaper With Cebu Pacific even adding on the 90 or so for Gold Coast to Sydney return.

        • I have so many questions. 11? At that kind of level is it even worth coming home?

          @seamonkey:
I need to earn the money to do the trips. I have a 20 month old girl there and even a month without seeing her is hard.

Well I can see the 159 fair sydney to Manila but the cheapest I can find Manila to Sydney is around $350???

    • @Smeghead76
Sure you are coming home prior to August 31 as per sale?
I just took a look and saw plenty.

      • Hi SeaMonkey. Yeah I found them. It's because I'm trying to buy for my girlfriend to come to Australia from Manila so they will not give the cheap price.

        • Hey Smeghead76
          Ahhh…I see..makes sense. :)
This was one of the cheaper I could find elsewhere..just random dates…didn't know the specifics you were after…

hmmm. not able to PM you, wonder if its something to do with you being brand new? Can anyone shed any light?

        • A little later than you wanted and likely a little more than you wanted to pay..
