  • Gotta say I got the 50 odd buck one from Oo and it's a great piece of kit if a little small. If I knew how much I would like it I would of shelled out for this- still might as the transparent window is really the solution to the only real issue I have with the Rank Arena.

    • Same here I have the rank arena but somehow I feel it cook very slow. But if I buy this what can I do with the old one? Sell on gumtree maybe for just small $

      • +1

Yeah sell it on or pass it to a mate for a 6 pack? Could try returning it maybe on the grounds of it not performing well enough for you ? Probably need the box and Postage would be on you though I think.

  • for some reason the postage had gone to $10, but it seems its back at $5 now

  • Postage is showing as $10 for me to Brisbane…

  • So like………. this can fry frozen food better than putting it in an oven?

    • An oven is far more versatile and it can cook a lot more food at a time. Choice review on the Phillips model seems to indicate that this method of frying is not energy efficient and even less so compared to an ordinary oven.

And as far as the results go, again, take note this is the Phillips model:

We sent chips, chicken legs, crumbed chicken tenderloins and chicken balls for a ride in this miniature space station (it's not exactly sleek or portable). The chicken came out juicy and tender. Unfortunately, so did the chips. Sort of. Many ended up half crispy, half not crispy – not quite what you want when you're after comfort food. True, the results were lighter and drier than with a deep fryer, but don't get the wrong idea; you'll still need to add a dash of oil, just not nearly as much as the local takeaway.

TLDR stick with the oven if you want consistent results. I can manage to make pretty nice crispy potato wedges with my conventional Westinghouse oven.
