Fingers crossed this is coming to the one opening at Eastgardens in Sydney

    • Every Opening Special is different in different store and even the prices would be different from my experience. I work in Aldi but not representing the company on my comments. I have unchecked the associated box because this is not an official comment and i am not authorised to comment on behalf of Aldi.

OMG didn't allowed me to post the comment until i clicked the association button, that is not fair.

I live nearby but wouldn't bother as likely ALDI will have just the one unit available despite the ads and you just get angry for making time to go down there just for this special (as happened to me before with one of their catalog specials).

  • Good deal. FHD TV @ monitor price.

Horrendous reviews, appears to only last 18 months - 2 yrs ….

So many bad comment for this TV

Have had one of their 46" TV's for about 18 months and it has been sent back twice and the picture quality was not great at all, the worst part is the lag. I will never touch them again.

Poor picture quality (terrible colour reproduction), annoying sound with only treble, 20 second boot time (slower than my laptop), no button to turn off the red stand-by light.
    HD doesn't mean quality.
Only get this if you're on a tight budget and can't watch TV any other way.

I got one of these at xmas it was reduced to 299
    so far so good.
Sound really poor - using output to surround sound and that is great.
Colours are a bit off but that may be my tweaking … browns appear a bit orange. and is really obvious on tv presenters faces that wear foundation.

I've started a new hobby repairing lcd tv's and have amassed a decent collection of broken tv's. The most common brand of tv that I have that is broken is LG, 50% of them and soniq is next on the list. This statistic may be biased as I know Sony break down as well, except as people pay through their nose for them(to buy them) they can justify a $300 repair on a what was once a $1500 tv. Whereas a $300 repair on a $500 tv not so much.
Most of the old LCD screens had fluorescent tubes illuminating them. The life of those is about 2-5 years. as for the rest of the components well its a bit of a lottery. The tv will only operate until its weakest component gives up the ghost. and there is hundreds of them.

So in my opinion if you get 2 years life out of a $300 tv then you got your moneys worth. otherwise you will want 10 years of life out of your $1500 tv.

    • You wouldn't happen to have any specific Samsung 55" screens, would you?

      • Lol no I dont

        • :(

Well let me know if you randomly come across one :D.

        • @DrPayne1990:
Did you open it up to see what the pannel number was ?

        • @HoracePinker: Haven't had a chance yet… Been working late. Wouldn't the model code be enough for that?

        • @DrPayne1990:
if you want to search the web for panel availability you will need to know that exact panel model number. it will be a label on the back of the panel …sometimes its under electronics but mostly visible without too much fuss. Normally a barcode as well.
          cheers

        • @HoracePinker:
Awesome, thanks for the tip mate. I'll pull it apart tomorrow and do some hunting arround.

    lol this TV

i have one… it works fine with a few caveats:

    1. use an external HDTV tuner so you can feed it a 1,080p signal

    2. use external 2.1 pc speakers

the internal tuner and scalar blows chunks (literally, blocky chunks)

    the sound is beyond terrible

    • So you mean the screen is good?

      • It won't impress anyone

      • looks pretty good with xbox hooked up to it.
buy it if you dont like it take it back.

    • So in summary, this is a great TV… except for the speakers, the tuner, and the panel?

      • And it comes complete with a three pin plug for easy installation.

        • So in summary, it's like a kettle… but can't boil water?

        • @McFly:
The panels are known for running hot..you never know.

  • Yes this is when Soniq TVs beat this brand for quality.

I have seen these bauhn TVs get thrown out, every time there is a schedule garbage dump in the neighborhood.

I have taken some to test if they were still working
and most of the time the main issue is - the LCD screen /display is defective.

So I would avoid these brands.
