"Ultimate Sale" - Xbox One & 360 (Digital Store)

390

Xbox currently has a week-long sale for digital titles. Supposed to start later today, but prices have been updated early.
Runs from 7th July through to 13th July (Pacific time).

These are "Gold" membership prices. The offers may be open to Silver members too, albeit probably at different discounts (you supposedly get a small extra discount for Gold prices).
There may also be daily sales, etc. Will update when Major Nelson puts up his official post on the sale.

  • No destiny dlc deals?

    • I believe thats this week's deals with gold.

    • Just looked online to see how much a hard copy was and I saw this under the description of the new expansion that is coming out.
It appears the two expansions come with the newest one. So you might want to hold off?

      https://www.jbhifi.com.au/games-consoles/platforms/xbox-one/…

Destiny: The Taken King - Legendary Edition is perfect for new and existing Guardians that are ready to jump into the Destiny universe or continue to carve their legend in the stars. The Legendary Edition features the complete Destiny experience including The Taken King, the next evolution in the Destiny universe, Destiny, Expansion I: The Dark Below and Expansion II: House of Wolves.

  • Any news when it will be open AEST?

    • Deals are already at those prices now.

  • Only interested in Ori but seems like just 25% off. Too little discount.

    • +1

It was $US5 on Steam this morning (around 3-4am) due to pricing error before it was fixed.

      • D: Was definitely sleeping at that time. Oh well I'll have to wait again.

        • +2

Probably not a very ozbargain-y thing to say, but Ori is definitely worth the price, even with only a small discount.

  • +5

    Very disappointing

  • Borderlands: The Handsome Collection…….. should I… 60 bucks… will it get better someday?

    • +1

Physical version is $59 at Big W in their toy sale too.

      • +1

Thanks, Ahhh I see, I actually prefer digital as it allows me to share games with my little sister. 60 Aus is pretty good for Aus digital.

        • …actually, that could be wise. I just installed my disc version, and there was about 17gb worth of patches anyway. Kind of defeats the purpose.

        • @AXiS:

Until Xbox live becomes history that is…

  • +13

Once again Microsoft is confused by the meaning of the word "Sale"

    • +4

I think they're struggling more with the meaning of the word ultimate. :D

      • I think Microsoft is actually still stuck on the definition of "Gaming console", but that's just me.

        • Console
          /kənˈsəʊl/
          verb
comfort (someone) at a time of grief or disappointment.

        • @syousef: Oh, well then they've definitely got it wrong, because the kinect makes me REALLY uncomfortable and disappointed!

        • +1

          @FrankMcFuzz:

No you misunderstand. The Xbox doesn't console you. Your friends and family do when you buy it. As in "oh never mind it was only $500." and "Next generation will be better" and "It could be worse you could own a PS4 or WiiU".

        • @syousef:

I mean that's pretty far fetched right? No one buys a WiiU.

    • I think the whole digital downloads industry is struggling with how to price these things without upsetting their bricks and mortar store partners. The wolfenstein bundle is terrible compared to physical copies at even places like HN, savings off RRP aren't good enough they should see waht the real price is for these items and then have a "sale"

      • Aren't MS required by law to price digital games at RRP? Unlike places like Big W or JB who can sell below RRP…

        • really? what law? I know in the US they got into some issues when walmart started complaining they might stop stocking their titles if they are consistently cheaper to buy digitally direct online. But I am not aware of any law that sets pricing?

        • No they aren't. They can price them what ever they want. That being said they'll generally price at RRP simply so that they don't undercut bricks and morter stores.

  • Hopefully they continue to add stuff. Was hoping Ryse would go on sale.

    • Cd keys has it at 15 American I believe.

      • +1

Yeah cheers. Grabbed the legendary edition (with season pass etc) from jb for 29

        • All good, that's not a bad deal. Awesome game man, so epic!

        • @Zylam Marex: yeah I've played it before but sold it to get some money back ($60 at the time). Didn't play any of the coop stuff so gonna smash through that with a mate. Best looking game on consoles I reckon.

  • Shadow of Mordor worth it for $32?

    • +1

Got it for $40 at launch, returned it a week later. It's like Assassin's Creed 1. Repetitive mini games. The next one will hopefully be better.

    • +1

cheapest I have seen around was $44, played it on PS4 and is a good game IMO, kept me entertained for a few weeks

    • +3

I personally think it's fantastic. The combat and exploration, hell even some of the missions are rather repetitive… But hell if the Nemesis system isn't one of the coolest features in a videogame to date. Easily worth it for $32 if just to see the system in action, just don't go for 100% completion and you'll have a great time.

      • I didn't really find myself using the word "explore" when playing it. It actually was a lot smaller than I thought it would be. Lego LOTR was better.

        • I define exploration, in a sandbox game, as discovering the different landmarks and all the points on the map. Disagree with it as much as you like, Mordor IS a sandbox game by definition, but I agree, it is quite cramped. It feels at its worst when you are fighting different Cheiftains who rule over the same stronghold because the map offers few alternatives.

Because of course it's a sandbox game; it was a videogame released after 2011.

Some decent deals on the 360…Far Cry 4 is $15.98 :)

  • this shit is pathetic

Microsoft have a unique spin on the term "Ultimate"… I suppose they get that from the Windows Ultimate Editions…

  • I dont understand this.

I don't have goat simulator or the lara croft game available on my xbone as far as i can see. Are these deals applicable to AUS? I often see XBONE games on sale/free with gold (take so many me for example which is meant to be free with gold for July) and i can't see it anywhere on my console. Are they US only ?

    • "So Many Me" isn't released yet. It goes as "Games with Gold" on/after 16th July.

MS are moving to a similar format to what they did with 360 - one game free from start of month, another from mid-month (both for 1mth each, so you get an overlap of titles). Eg. AC4 is free 1/7->31/7, and So Many Me is free 16/7->15/8.

  • +1

Set up a US profile, buy credit via Amazon and save.

EG Borderlands is $au48 on the US store and $60 on the AU store.

    • +1

You mean US "billing details", yeah? That's all you need for XBOne purchases, not a full US Xbox account.
I also get my non-Aus Xbox credit from MS, as you see the code pop up at the end of the sale.

      • Sorry you're right it's US billing details. I just used my address with Shipito :)

        • Am I able to switch to a US billing account now?

        • @ohhidayo: yep

        • @SirFlibbled: Hmm I'm in the Manage your billing profile but it wont let me change from AUS?

        • +2

          @ohhidayo: Follow the guide here - http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/forum-replies.cfm?t=2187594#r…

Note: Paypal won't work anymore, so don't bother with that.
If your cr card doesn't work (or you don't want to use it), just add it to create the billing country then delete it. Once you have the country added, you can buy prepaid Xbox money cards for that country & redeem them.

        • @Linkwick: Yep the 2nd step can't be done because there's no longer a drop down box (well at least on my profile)

        • @ohhidayo: Did you follow the rest of it? Step 2 covers both if the country is available, or log out to do Step 3 and keep proceeding to enable it.

To "start" a country payment method, you need to be logged out & attempt to "buy" (cancel before the end) something from that region.

Only then will the country appear in the dropdown box to be selected. If you haven't done that, then obviously it won't be there to choose.

    • I swear I didn't tick the 'associated' tab. I'm not associated…

  • +2

+1 for Ori alone. Even though it's only 25% off, for a game of the year contender it'll be worth the $20.

  • Are there any Xbox 360 deals?

    • +1

      Just updated. :-)

  • Thanks OP, I bought AC: China for $6.

Lords of the fallen is part of the deal of the week and is 60% off, so $40.. Not bad.

  • Injustice gods among us looks like a good deal.
Next cheapest I find is ebgames @ $23

    But seriously goat simulator????

  • Anyone else notice Amazon isn't selling gift codes anymore?

  • +1

    What a shit 'ultimate' sale.

  • Anyone know where to get a discounted live gold membership?

    • There was a deal a little while ago for CD Keys and it was $37 there. Maybe be on the lookout for another one to be chucked up here.

      • Saw that one, I think I got something similar but for 15 months last time

    • Here is probably the best deal at the moment (US$31.49):
      http://www.cdkeys.com/xbox-live/memberships/12-month-xbox-li…

There are cheaper deals from time to time… but the CD Keys deal is pretty good.

  • +1

Really wish they had MK on the 360 store online, it's the only 360 Disc I still have. Bit wary buying some of the games knowing full well they'll go free on Games on Demand. It also keeps me off EA's Vault given many of them games are on sale reguarly too.

  • +1

    So… anything actually good?

    • +1

Telltale games and Borderlands are great fun. The Borderlands Handsome Jack bundle is awesome value with Borderlands 2 and the Presequel + a crap load of DLC which amounts to another 1.5 games worth.

  • +1

Answered my own question…lol so nvm

  • Couldn't resist, snapped up Trials Fusion & Mutant Blobs Attack…if you've never tried the latter, give the free trial a whirl, it's highly addictive fun! :)

  • OP, did the price for Diablo III change? I though it was about $59 the other day, now it's $39? Pretty keen on grabbing it - but not sure if the price really is flexible throughout the sale period. Thanks.

  • Already picked up Assassin's creed 3. Might pick up Ori cause it was really well reviewed.

  • Bought Lego Batman from US Store, USD 14.98
    It is so cheap !!!!!
