Community Obituary: Domino's Deep Pan. RIP.

Domino's are murderers. They seem to have killed the 'deep pan' pizza.

I was shocked and appalled yesterday when I discovered yesterday while ordering Dommies for the first time in months that they'd seemingly axed the 'deep pan' pizza.

Enraged, I have decided to canvass the OzB community to ask 2 questions:

1: WHYYYY?!???
2: Since when?

Also, feel free to leave your deep pan obituaries to our much-loved, greasy, heart-disease-invoking friend. I know I for one, will be missing him (/her/it) dearly.

  • I think your RIP might have been a bit premature. I just checked my local dominos, I can select the deep pan option still.

Looks like @Catchy might have dropped the ball this time. :)

Deep pan is to Dominos as Jesus is to christianity… I rose again!

        • Sounds like you got a bible basher's nose out of joint. lol

        • @airzone: LOL yeah, it's to be expected though.

  • That will never happen.

probably sold out. unless this is a crap version of a viral marketing attempt.

Also, it appears the gluten free range don't have deep pan, did you order one by mistake?

    • This was my thought when it was first posted. Marketing attempt to drum up outrage and sales. "Save our Crust" rallies across the nation, interviews with last decade's Big Brother contestants on how they feel about the issue, petitions to bring back Deep Pan. http://i.imgur.com/dPKZ0VL.jpg

  • Okay, so I hear all you neigh-sayers out there. But believe me. Fortitude Valley store (QLD), order placed last night on their Android App.
I couldn't believe it myself, but placed the order with Classic Crust in any case.

When I rolled up to the shop to collect, their printed menus had only 2 regular crust options: Classic and Thin & Crispy. Their deluxe crusts were the Cheesy Crust and Gluten Free, both of which attracted $2 surcharges.

I've since gone through the process again, and absolutely - there is no Deep Pan option available at the store. Fingers crossed the rest of the company doesn't follow suit.

I guess deep pan does not appeal to the demographic in the valley, used to be drunks and stoners, now hipsters. :P

Might have to start ordering from the shop in New Farm or Spring Hill if you like deep pan that much. I took the liberty to check both stores for you, both have deep pan. You're welcome.

      • Evidence of hipster activity in both New Farm and Spring Hill. I have seen droppings.

        • This is great. Have you actually had a confirmed sighting? Some people mistake the bearded male hipster for the homeless guy. It actually takes a lot of effort to get the "I don't care" look. Did you try to throw a beer bottle at him and see if he gets mad because you threw a beer bottle at him or that the beer bottle wasn't craft beer?

    • they could just be out of stock.

try again in a week :)

Unless you're a horse, of course.

          Or a horse whisperer

        • (Zero horse whispering needed here, it would appear.)

(An audible "awww…" from me, though, when I saw it.)

I just ordered one then, and there was definitely a thick crust option. WA

  • Could be the app you used too, did you check it on a PC?
I had a similar issue with menu log, had to put notes in to state my suburb as I couldn't amend the one it set for me. Just a thought :)
