What Are Some Fully Refundable Big Ticket Purchases?

Sorta but not really a duplicate of this
I've got a credit card that I need to somehow spend $3k on in the next few weeks in order to get my points bonus, but I don't spend that much…

What are some things I can buy but get fully (or mostly) refunded after I get the points?

A hotel room on expedia or booking.com. Look for "Pay Now" and fully refundable. I had to cancel a hotel reservation made through expedia.com.au early last week. I checked yesterday and the money is back on my card.

    • I can't find anything with "Pay Now" and "Fully Refundable" :(

here's one I'm sure there are many others
Click on "Book" on any of the "Free Cancellation" options and then a popup screen will allow you to select whether to pay now or at check-in.
Depending on your credit card fees you might also want to pay in USD. If the Aussie dollar falls between now and when you cancel you could end up making money from the transaction.

  • have you tried qantas business class ?

Better check the TCs of the credit card points offer Jake. With some of these offers, the points are not awarded until 90 days (or more) after the purchasing requirements are fulfilled.

Booked the hotel for mid-November 2016 and can have until the start of November to cancel :)

If you get something refunded using a credit card, dont the points deduct as well?

  • Buy something from Aldi. Or the iconic. Then return it.
