Does this come with low capacity toner like some ink printers do. So you need to buy new "normal" toners almost straight away?

    • Reading info in the link will answer your question! If you're printing 1000 pages a day then you'll need new "normal" toners almost straight away

  • Has favourable reviews on Whirlpool: http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/archive/1720504

Must have a different product name overseas as can't find many more reviews for it.

  • Make sure you get some good prices from www.staticeice.com.au for the toner cartridges then go to Officeworks for 10% price match. A great printer but the toner gets chewed up if printing blocks of colour.

  • Good deal.

The problem with colour laser printers is the cost per page is around 20c. Versus around 3c for a mono laser printer.

    • Absolutely agree - just wanted to give people an colour alternative to the earlier mono deal https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/207797

    • Forgive the potentially stupid question, but the cost per page is only when printing colour (full colour, at that?),.. right? ie If I'm using this to print mono, the per page cost is going to be low (circa 3c maybe)..?

      • You're right that you only use black toner, but colour (and in particular "low volume") printers normally have higher toner per-page costs. Also, other components (drum etc) need more frequent replacement, so overall running costs will be significantly higher

I have this, bought earlier this year from officeworks for nearly twice this price.

Pros: Good quality, crisp prints, compared to Samsung, Brother in same price range. Fast to warm up, fast to print. Has auto duplex print. Long warranty (I think 3 years). Comes with good size cartridges - printed well over 1000 pages of text and pics (uni work) and only now getting cartridge replacement warning. Generic toners easy to get from ebay or oo.com.au.

Cons: size not as compact as newer Samsung, Brother printers. No wireless printing but can be networked (although I have not set mine up to do this, so can't comment on function). In whirlpool forums there have been complaints about setting up networking. Some people have complained about high cost of drum replacement, but I have not had to do this, yet.

I had no probs with normal installation to my computer. Windows 8 and windows 10 automatically found driver, else you can download standard PCL driver from fujitsu website, for full print options.

TLDR: Excellent price for good printer, but it's a bit bulky. Recommended for uni and schoolwork, or small business. Networkable, but no wireless printing.

  • Printer arrived - its huge. Not really suitable for small office or home use.

  • Good catch OP! Is there a way to get around that Shipping charge (comes upto $45, making it less attractive of an offer).
