  • How does this compare to the Dyson ones … I've live in a 2 bedda with carpets in bed rooms alone , so wondering if the Dyson handheld will be a good choice …

Wondering this or the Dyson ( similar price post discounts )

I work with vacuum cleaners, & have used a few Dysons. I would not say they are the best, at all.
Electrolux & Hoover are far better.
      This is a bargain.

red-hot, what do you think of Sebo?
Their vacuum is priced at well over $1000!
Are they justified asking this sort of price?

        • I've never tried that brand, sorry.

Any thoughts on Dyson v6 handsticks compared to Bosch/Electrolux stick vacs???

        • @alishaikh:
I would prefer the latter two brands.

Going on the Choice Magazine scores I would go Electrolux over Dyson even though this model wasn't one of the ones they tested….

      Electrolux (83%, 82%, 80%, 80%, 79%, 74%)
      Dyson (77%, 75%, 74%, 74%, 73%, 72%, 65%)

Thanks for the research mate !!

  • awesome! I was about to jump on the dyson handsticks before, but this offers much better value!

    • Dyson handstick serves a different purpose. The v6 motorhead is a very good product but is over 3 times more expensive. Suitable for spot cleaning or small 1-2 bedder units.

Dyson Barrel/canister vacuums have turbo brush floor heads (Air propelled).
This one has a motorised powerhead with a on/off switch at the hand grip which is generally more effective for carpets. The brush on the head is not very awesome though.
The bin capacity is on the smaller side primarily due to its compact size, but i guess should be sufficient for 2 - 3 bed residence.

Im no expert but my research suggests this one has better suction then most Dyson barrel/canister vacuums. I just bought it after 6 months of research :-)
Happy for an expert to shed some more light on pros n cons.
It appears to be a very good deal for this price.

    Ive got this vacuum,

the motorised head broke TWICE , once replaced under warranty and now its broken again just out of warranty….

would not recommend this machine at all..

    • hmmm… What other vacuums have you used and what do u recommend?

      • +2

        I recommend a Numatic Henry

Bagged vacuums always seem to "SUCK" better than bag-less ones.
also the henry is built TOUGH and very good quality machine.

    • I used to rate Electrolux, but after owning two of the Electrolux ZB5012 25.2V stick vacs, I'm having second thoughts.

The ZB5012 is their flagship stick-vac at $399 RRP ($299 street). The first one died at around 20 months and was replaced with no fuss. When I dropped it off at the repair shop there was another 3 of the same model sitting there waiting to be repaired. When I enquired further I was told that they always have 2 or 3 of these stick vacs sitting in the repair queue. I told the guy that it's not looking good for my other vac, and lo and behold, 2 months later the second one died completely as well.

The second one has been sitting at the shop for 3 weeks now. So what is the longevity of the replacements? Especially, when I'm comparing to my LG vacuum which cost around the same coin, and is getting on to 10 years old? Not sure if I would risk another Electrolux when my LG finally dies.

      • When it comes to cordless stick vac, Dyson v6 are very good.
Based on my research, in general Electrolux has stronger suction then Dyson when it comes to barrel/canister vacuums.
Longevity and life of Vac, i know only one person who has an Electrolux n been using it for a few yrs n he swears by it :-)

  • Would this be good picking up cat hair from carpet? I'm looking to replace my faithful 5 year old Airflo which has a turbo brush but not the motorised one.

    • the power head is good for picking up hair from carpets…………..UNTIL it clogs up or stops working at all…as in the case with my one.

thats true. The brush bar needs to be cleaned up regularly n hair removed. Otherwise it breaks.
Sometimes scissors are required to cut the hair wrapped around the brush bar roller.

  • Price is back to $499

  • I bought it and am quite happy with the suction and performance.
The brush bar requires cleaning after every clean as we have a lot hair in the house. The brush roller comes out quite easily though.
