I was wondering if any of the keen fishos in here could give me their opinion on the upcoming ALDI offer on a $79.99 Shimano rod and reel combo.
Going off those specs and the brand name, would this be a good buy? I need a new set anyway and am comparing something like this vs a cheaper combo from K-Mart or similar. I don't mind putting down some money if it's worth the price tag.
Any advice is appreciated!

Aldi have a 60 day return policy (no questions asked) with most of their stuff so if you try it and don't like it just take it back.
Hard to say. Just because a brand has a good reputation does not mean they wont push out a lower spec item to meet consumer demand in a set price bracket.
How often do you intend to use it? Will it suit the type of fishing you intend to do?
If it is just the odd couple of times off the local jetty then something cheaper may do?
