$55 cheaper than when I bought it in November 2014

Can you post on a deal on a time machine?

      • Why neg it?

      • +3

isn't tendollar saying that it's $55 cheaper now?

        • +1

          Yep! :D

      • Yes. I'm on one now.

  • Is this better than samsung?

    • +3

The Samsung 850 Evo is like 2 years newer. You won't notice much difference between the two if you're a normal user and not writing and reading gigantic files.

      • I'm pretty new to the SSD scene but isn't this supposed to compete against the Samsung 850 Pro? If the 850 Evo is better why would I pay an extra $50 for a Sandisk Extreme Pro?

        • 850 evo and Extreme Pro are different classes. The latter competes against the 850 PRO not EVO model from Samsung.

        • @eklipze: yes sorry i didn't write it properly, when i said 'this' i mean the Sandisk Extreme Pro

    • Build and technology wise - no

      • +2

Actually they're vastly different inside. 19nm TLC NAND/Marvell 88SS91xx Controller in the SanDisk versus 40nm 3D V-NAND/Samsung Mxx Controller in the Samsung. The Samsung 850 Evo is also a lot more power efficient and supports hardware encryption.

But this is still a perfectly good SSD for 99% of users.

        • What about lifespan, which one is expected to last longer? Sandisk vs Samsung

        • +1

@KaTst3R: Obviously the later generation SSD, the 850 Evo. Like I said however, endurance and MBTF doesn't matter for 99% of users, so this is still an adequate SSD.

    • Regadless if it's better or not; 10x better as say… a steam drive, then your typically mechnical drive.

    Sweet prices EC. Thanks.

  • Yay, can finally upgrade my ssd from a pissy 128gb.

    • I've still got an old 60GB that's making a world of difference.

  • +1

The 960GB is so tempting.. got to resist..

  • On the final step of snapping the 480GB. Part of me is resisting….
No urgent need for it atm. AUD is weak.

What to do with the old HDD that will come out of the lappy? So many things to consider….

    • Place it in your optical bay? That's if you have one and you don't need the DVD drive.

  • +2

    Please… TA, beat this…

ShoppingExpress? Can you match this? I'll grab it from you guys if you can. hehe

      • AND MY AXE!! .. i mean, same.

  • 256gb microsd is dropping woohoo.

  • I just bought 2 128GB Micro SDHC (new vers) @ USD$47.99 each + USD$5.11 shipping. Looks like the prices have dropped since this deal was posted.

  • So what's the write speed of the new Sandisk Ultra 128 GB micro SD?

    EDIT
    Answer's in the Amazon comments,
about 15 MB/s sequential write speed.

Part of 1 day "gold box" promotion on SanDisk? "Up to 60% off"

    http://www.amazon.com/b/ref=mh_/?aid=B00V62XBQQ&apid=2189609…

  • I use the ultra2 480gb as my vm drive and u torrent dl dr. Seeding 40-50 files at once. A normal hhd wouldn't cope. I'd be tempted to upgrade if it was $300. 960-> ~900gb usable is pretty sweet.

    • 100+ files, on laptop drives… a walk in the park.

      • Yeah. Let's se how that mechanical head copes after a few months non stop use 24/7

        • More than 5 years on these drives alone.
I'm not sure where you got the idea that it's a heavy/difficult load.
The top speed is limited by the internet connection, and it's not on a public tracker.
It's not business NAS or security CAM server.

        • @Utopian:

100 files needing to load specific parts constant abuse = normal hhd failure.

        • @T1OOO: 100+ torrent files, in relation to 10+ files. "Seeding" 24/7. They sit there waiting for a leecher on private trackers, the vast majority of the time. No major activity, and RAM smooths-out bumps.

        • @Utopian:

          10,000 files. 150-500 active

        • @T1OOO: ^ I thought you said your usage is "seeding 40-50 files at once". It all looks confusing, even re-reading what I wrote. What I tried to write was 100 .torrent files each having 10+ files per .torrent file. That's seeding 24/7. Demand changes wildly of-course. I'm downloading another 1-2TB each month. All on one laptop drive at a time. 3 years on a Hitachi TravelStar 5K1000. I'd go 2TB, if they weren't Seagate. With a SSD, I'd seed 100x that, if it wasn't for the overhead on the connection. Becomes expensive "free" content, after a while :D

        • @Utopian:

It varies. They way torrent works is when downloading files ur also seeding them.

If I finish some while I'm at work then they will be actually seeded to along with the downloading ones. So downloading and uploading is a lot of effort for the head. Some are pictures with lots of files. Some are big files. So it varies. Either way it didn't work and the hard drive. Wd green and segate failed after a few months.

  • Cheers!

Just purchased 2 x 128GB SanDisk Ultra Micro SDXC (newer version)(Up to 80MB/s) via 'Utopian' link for the 1 day 'gold box' promotion.

    $95.98USD(2x $47.99) + $5.11USD (9-12days shipping)
    Total of $101.09USD shipped :)

OP might want to update your link. Works out to be a few bucks cheaper haha :)

  • Has the price on the micro sd gone up? Or is the link wrong?

  • Thanks OP I just picked up the 480GB. I've been quietly keeping an eye out for a 0.5TB SSD for a while, not that fussed by cutting edge performance. Best price I have ever seen for a 0.5TB SSD ever.
