  • They had this same deal several weeks ago. But this time they have more add-on options. They only had $30 for extended warranty and sleeve last time.
Good deal, but most people will say that the processor is too slow.

  • it'll run fine in XP… problem is its too slow for W7

  • one of several comments on the web about the CPU

"One possible reason for the netbooks poor result is the choice of Intel’s Atom Z520 processor, a low-power chip which has proved unable to keep up with the 720p-capable display credentials of the AO751."

still a good deal though, just don't expect awesome HD playback I suppose

  • +1

i got this notebook a few weeks ago when cotd had the similar promo, but the only problem is that it freezes all the time. looks like it's a well known problem and no easy fix for it. have spoken to acer and i have to reformat to confirm it's not a software problem.

these 56 pages of other users having the same problem suggests that it's not as simple as a software problem

    • Looks like this Acer is a dud. Thanks for heads-up!

  • Something else to keep in mind is that the 6-cell battery sticks out the back, which you can't see from the photos on CotD.

Here's a picture of it with the 6-cell sticking out:

    • Definitely a big booty there with a 6-cell…

      • I love big booty :)

  • In light of the freeze up problem and the huge 6-cell battery, i cant appreciate my benq more.

anyone thinking about this acer, is probably better off with the benq.

    • Is yours the U121 with the Z530? Do you recommend it?

      • for 400, i couldnt recommend it enough - as long as you can install your own os.

yes z530, and easily plays 720p movies. screen is high res, but quality not up to desktop standards, only a pass.

        • I've still been having 720p playback problems on my acer, using win7 and have the latest intel drivers - have no idea whats wrong. Luckily 720p playback wasnt the main reason I bought it otherwise i would have returned it.

          • @voter1: a few things you can try:

            1. use WMP12
            2. switch OFF AERO
            3. make sure its mp4 or vc1, not divx or xvid

if none of these help, then its probably a hardware limitation unfortunately
