  • Can you please clarify - Huawei Talkband B2 is provided by Dicksmith or JbHiFi, because I could not find the link? May be it is too early for me.

    • Hi akd, the Talkband B2 is a freebie if you buy Mate 7 from Dicksmith, and they only advertise this deal on their own catalogue.

      • that combo is still on? saw that on ozb weeks ago..

        • I've purchased mine from Dicksmith last Thursday, didn't even release that come with a B2 until staff throw it into my bag. However the latest catalogue advertised differently…even 10 bucks dearer than online price. My best guess is check out the deal in stores.

        • @Adamxli: i see. but it was much better deal with coles 10% (or 20%??) off dicksmith voucher deal few weeks ago

        • @erwinsie:

Those vouchers are good for 12 months (from date of purchase) so could be used on this purchase .. just sayin ;-)

        • @Wally: hehe i didnt get that voucher, i was thinking at that time, as i could get TRS as well.. but then i realised my note 3 is still capable for another year or more.

  • Anyone think price will drop further in the next few months or is that just wishful thinking?

    • no. each seconds the electronics are less in price. how much is different question

  • Great phone for the price.

  • I had it and i don't recommend it, i sold mine. I have been a samsung user and i thought to give the little guys a chance, terrible. Screen isnt good, cant see it well on the sun, the sensor for brightness to automatically adjust is late 3+ seconds. Speaker isnt loud enough, the led light on the front of the phone to give a sign if you have any new notifications is literally invisible, especially daytime. The sound quality, if you listen music a lot and like it to ne heard on your earphones as it was meant to be isn't gonna happen on this phone, i tried and tried so many players, settings, mods etc. You cant do anything because the hardware is rubbish, couldn't compare to my galaxy s4. After few weeks the screen got a bright spot/area in the middle of the screen that could mostly be seen on brighter backgrounds, I've realized that the screen must be dying and i got rid of the phone, the design is great, so is the idea, but better pay a bit more and get the real thing then this.

    • It may be a faulty unit. Mate 7 has very good user feedback.

      • Screen was faulty, but not from the start. As for other things, they are just bad as that's how it is, they just dont have that much experience and knowledge about mobile phone manufacturing as bigger players do, hardware wise the problem is that they are using home brewed hardware to cut corners on pricing etc. Hopefully over time they will evolve.

        • +1

Your unit may have other problems from start. Majority owners have good feedback on this phone. You are just unlucky. In your case, I would claim warranty and get replaced. Huawei builds quality phones and I see nothing wrong to use their own kirin chipset rather than use Qualcomm's snapdragon. The performance may not as high as Samsung but it's good enough for normal ppl, and you bought it at much lower price. The only thing I am not happy with huawei is the firmware update is slow. Overall huawei is a good tradeoff in terms of quality and price. If you can afford more, then buy samsung note 4. If not, huawei is a good choice.

  • Dicksmith is selling Mate 7 for $639.00 and come with a Huawei Talkband B2 for free, Is this huawei ascend mate 7 promotion still going on?

  • I'd get the "lower" spec MTL09 16GB and 2GB RAM instead as it supports 700MHZ LTE on Telstra/Optus which has really taken off in metro centres.

I have one now and with a mSD card, don't miss the extra memory/ram at all.

    • DS run out of stock for L09 so probably it's a bit harder to find it now. Apart from a few online shops I couldn't find it elsewhere.
