If picture quality is bad, wouldn't it be worse on a big screen? Better save a bit more for a Samsung, LG or other big brand tv, a TV should last you many years, so you wouldn't want to be stuck in a bad quality TV.

      "a bit more"

      $1500 extra isn't a bit more?

      • -1

        Wait for a sale.

        • +1

A sale is never going to reduce the price that much.

        • -3

          @samfisher5986: It will one day.

        • -2

          @stargalaxy:

Ok well don't get that Samsung TV either.

If you wait you can get a 200" Sony TV for $5.

You may or may not be dead by then.

        • -2

@stargalaxy: At the very same day the first astronaut will land on Pluto.

        • @samfisher5986: in 1999 i sold a man two $45,000 Hitachi Plasmas and two $2,200 DVD players to he could use them as picture frames in his house that played a slideshow of his digitally converted scans of family photos.

Years later I worked in TV repair and a guy didnt want to spend $300 on a new screen so it got scrapped.

$5 4k will be in your lifetime, because thats how history of tech goes

      • well since samsung was caught spying on customers through their Mic, imagine yours had a Built-in camera ;)

    • If your eyes can seriously see the difference in pixels from the average distance of watching a tv then you probably should be working with NASA or something since your eyes are super.

If you're paying the extra to go above 42" you really need to consider a projector. The $900 BenQ W1070 looks phenomenal, and goes up to 100".

Except in a day-lit room with the curtains open, picture quality will soundly beat this TV, in basically everything, since there's no 4K content yet (nor reasonably priced GPUs that can drive heavy 4K gaming).

just a quick note if someone plans to buy this and hook it up to their pc, the input lag is very noticeable, not good for competitive gaming, its ok for ps4 and xbox1, recommend turning off motionflow either wise you will be seeing a lot of ghosting when playing video games.

The color of the TV is not great, but not bad either, skin color looks really orangey and it's understandable why people would want to return it, for the price however it is a bargain, but if you buy this TV expecting it to be on par with the Sony and Samsung/LG, then I highly recommend not purchasing it.

    • Note that a 4k TV adds nothing to PS4 and Xbox 1 gaming since they can barely do 1080p.

Time to refresh my 8 year old Sony Bravia 40 XBR…
Only used by missus to watch The Bachelor and Masterchef and Netflix after 10PM by myself via HTPC.

Should I get this or should I get the more popular brand such as Sony, Samsung, LG and the likes…?

Haven't done TV shopping or research in 8 years so a bit rusty… Might need 50-55 inch tops but 65 will be a bonus..

    Cheers…

      This, Value for Money!

I have a Thorn 55" LED LCD TV for several years, not a single problem other then the battery on the remote dying :/

    • +1

Can anyone share how big is the box?
I have a Honda "Tardis" Jazz with roof rack so would it fit in or on top?

    • Nice! a cool $5K… for the extended warranty that is..;)

      • +1

apparently its no good. the remote control is too small.

        • I think you forgot to turn it on first!

  • So the chroma 4:4:4 worked out ?

    • I am interested to know this aswell!

  • -2

Never buying a Bauhn again. Bought one in an Aldi promotion a few years ago for gaming, and when I got home it turned out that it was completely lacking in features such that there was no game mode that would make games playable on it. Returned it the same day.

  • I don't mean to be racist but is this Bauhn TV German or Chinese?

    • german brand but probably made in china

    • So how is it supposed to be ravist?

  • meh.. There's bugger all 4K content. Wait 'till next year when the technology is better and the content is available.
Though, if you need to buy a TV now this would be the pick.

  • +1

Seen bauhn TVs getting thrown out whenever they have garbage/dump collection week.

I took one home to see if it was usuable or fixable
and most of them has issue with the panels not displaying picture properly..

So I wouldn't trust paying any money for this brand.

    Bogan TV

  • 5 year warranty or ?

  • +1

normally one cannot expect anything fancy for $1200, it only gets you return to Los Angeles, a brand new Iphone 6s Plus, 2 Apple watches. So don't expect too much for $1200 it only buys you toilet paper.

    • +2

that's some fancy toilet paper if you spend $1200 in one hit for toilet paper
my ass only touches work toilet paper!

  • Haaaa so its back… well (profanity) me if im going to be in that shitstorm crowd again actually you know what im gonna go just to record the whole thing… then ill put it up on youtube and watch it go viral :DDDDDD

Too bad im not interested anymore… for a few hundred more can get a Hisense 65inch 1080p with 3 years replacement warranty, JBHIFI stock…. AndroidTV yada yada…. and for those that think upscaling your shitty 1080p res movies streams good luck.. your wasting your money on 4k…

  • Very poor sound quality.

  • One week after purchasing no problems to report all good very happy. Also attached a 4 port usb hub with four 2tb hard drives and all of them are all working. So the tv does take over 1tb hard drives no problems.
