Cheap (~$150) Dual Sim Phones with Good to Great Cameras

Hey all,

A relative asked me to help get them a phone with these constraints;
-$150-200 Budget
-Good to great cameras (back and front)
-Dual sim

I found 2 possible phones the Viewsonic V500 and the Doogee Valencia2 Y100.

Anyone have an opinion on these? Any other suggestions?

Thanks

I got the Oukitel U8 a couple of weeks ago $159 shipped.

Very happy with the phone. Had it side by side with a Samsung S5 and it's quicker and the camera is better.

    • Hey looks like a good phone, however I am assuming that without some other bands it's best for Optus users.

Can you let me know if it shipped with Play or did you have to add it?

      • I can't remember now, but anyway, the phone has since developed a fault and the bottom 3 buttons only work intermittently.. so I would now advise against getting this or the Elephone P8000, which i've also had issues with.

Best to stick with a local supplier as the return costs are too high to be worth sending it back to get it mended.

Meizu M2 has pretty good reviews on the camera. It is about $180AUD.

    • Thanks for this but do you know how the jd warranty process is and delivery looks crazy long. Kogan has this for 259 is it worth the extra 80 for the Aussie warranty and shorter delivery?

      • No idea on the warranty. For $180 it is effectively a throw away if it breaks device for me.
I did a warranty claim for another China mobile last year and it took 3 months, so not really a reasonable option.
Perhaps a middle ground is to pay the extra $20 for expedited shipping?

  • Any similar phones with NFC?

    • Not many (can't think of any). Most dual sim phones are phones with a MediaTek chipset and they do not use NFC, but their own HotKnot protocol.

Oukitel U8 mentioned above is ok. I used it for a month, but dropped it and smashed the case and then dropped it again a few days later, before I could get a new case to break the phone. Its decent. However, it is very heavy. Also bear in mind that while it is dual sim, you cannot use the SD card slot in this phone if you use both sim cards.

I'm using a Redmi Note 2 now. Been using it for a few days now and its awesome and has dual sim. Highly recommend this.

The Doggee Y100 Valencia2 has very poor reviews and I do not recommend this option. The Viewsonic is a bit meh. Certainly not my first choice.

    • Thanks for your input. Where'd you get it?

  • Infrared, I don't want to say which shop I got it from, as last time I mentioned this shop, I was banned (moderators avvhsed me of sockpuppeting for it). Plenty of comments on the discussions about this phone as to where to get it.

    • Was it DX? Also did it ship with Play or did you have to flash it/side load it?

      • It had play, but you need to flash it anyway. So much bloat on it.
