Original CLICK15 deal

This deal is same as This one but now with CLICK15 code.

Edit: For those who are looking for White and Gold model
White for $579 (was $679)

  • Can someone tell me how do I put CLICK15 code in the promo code section? :-)

    • +3

Just type them in, and slowly, lol

      • lol I did try that but it said "the code is duplicate" :(

  • +7

Pretty decent price, but decided to go with the G4 instead. :D The fingerprint reader, premium build quality and exynos chip would be compelling reasons to choose this over the G4 though. Just like the sd card, easy to replace battery are reason enough to go with the G4 instead. :D

    • +2

G4 is $100 cheaper too making this s6 deal seem mediocre.

      • Touchwiz is poorer at managing ram too. It's interesting how close the G4 comes in this speedtest against the note 5 using the same exynos 7420. Almost beats it because the G4 doesn't waste time reloading apps. Something hopefully Samsung can fix up one day.

        • If you flashed something else would the ram issues be fixed?

        • @blighst:
Can you even do that with an s6 yet?

        • @RI4V4N: A quick google suggests that CM and a bunch of other ROMs are avaliable.

        • @blighst:
I'm fairly sure CM is not available. Some people have fake hacked versions of it semi working as far as I know.
The fact i cant get any custom mods is why i'm selling it to get a n5x.

        • @RI4V4N: Looks like you're right - it isn't officially supported. There are some official versions of not so famous roms though on XDA http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s6#romList

    • Haven't witnessed any 'premium build quality' on Samsung phones before.

Main advantage to buying Samsung is you can have your phone reapired/replaced easily at Samsung Stores but obviously that doesn't apply to this deal since it's not AU stock (and they definitely check).

      • +2

Try holding it or reading some reviews.

      • Samsung is basically Apple now. Bad luck if you don't have the latest phone because you aint getting any significant updates.

    • Where are you finding a G4 $100 cheaper? I'd be keen on a G4 for $454, that's finally getting down to my sort of price point.

  • +1

That's too cheap for grey import! Perhaps another 2 more months and could drop down to half price!

    • is it grey import??

      • +1

        Yes.

  • Tempted to sell my note 4 and buy this. However I have so many cases for my note plus a 64gb micro sd. Decisions decisions.

    • +1

What don't you like about the note 4?

      • Just because I am upgrading does not mean I don''t like it. Personally it is quite laggy for the recent apps switcher despite running a custom rom. Also I still have not got 5.1.1 on the unlocked version. Also the s6 design is much sexier.

        • Yeah apparently 5.1.1 is coming out next week for the Note 4. I want to move away from touchwiz myself. :)

        • +2

I may be the weirdest person ever. Have been using android for over 4 years since the xperia x10 and tried over 10 phones. Yet I still prefer touchwiz having owned a nexus 5 in the past. Only thing I dislike is slow updates. Have you tried dr ketan rom? Install that and the dark lollipop galaxy s6 theme.

        • @mark96: I got 5.1.1 over a month ago on my S6. They're quite quick. Had a further update after that which turned my icons to look like Note 5's.

        • Exactly the same reason I'm contemplating changing phones. The recent apps switcher is RIDICULOUSLY slow, waiting up to at most 10 seconds to change apps? What the (profanity)? I'm definitely now more hesitant regarding Samsung in future.

        • Exactly. I installed dr ketan rom with s6 material theme and the lag is much better and almost gone. However I'm still annoyed that the flagship device still has not received 5.1.

    • +1

Keep it another year and go for S7 or Note 6. No need to keep up with the joneses.

      • Good point. However I'm thinking of buying the g4 as it will not cost much after I sell my note. Maybe 50 dollars. Whereas if I wait till the note 6 depreciation will be alot more.

        • How much is G4 now?

        • Less than 450 from the ebay deal after cashback.

        • @mark96: If you can sell a Note 4 for $400, that's an easy upgrade. I assume your Note 4 is AU stock and still has another 12 months warranty on it?

  • Just keep in mind this SM-G9208 is the model for China with TD-SCDMA support. According to this it's missing the 850MHz LTE band if that matters to you. Firmware updates will depend on chinese updates too.

    • What does that mean effectively? Wouldn't be suitable for Australia?

  • maximum discount capped at $100 so how come you get for $554.76?
    isnt should be $569?

    • Cash rewards 2.5% cashback.

      • oh didnt notice that, thanks.
too many ebay deals, some of them count the 2.5% while others dont.

        • I think the non-CR price should be in the title, and the CR price next to it.

        • @eug: I agree should never have cashrewards price as title price.

        • +1

          @geo365: Will keep that mind…

  • +1

In regards to cash rewards, is it easy to sign up to and claim the 2.5% discount? Or, if there is a thread on this, could someone kindly post the link to redirect me :)

    • +1

Yes, it's very easy to sign up. They usually track your transactions fine and you can contact them if somehow you don't get cash back. Although you have to wait around 45 days before you get to withdraw your cashbacks.

  • I'm in no hurry but not sure if should wait until March when s7 comes out and hopefully this drops to $450.

  • Will it work with Telstra., as 850MHz is missing?

    • +2

It is Missing the 4g 850mhz (LTE) as you can see in the spec's the 3g 850 is present. I cant comment but i guess if it affects anything it will be Vodafone 4g. With Telstra the 700mhz is usually the more important band to consider (great indoor performance).

      4G

Australia is currently using these LTE bands (LTE bandmask in brackets):

2100MHz (B1) FDD (0000000000000001) – Telstra (a handful of sites), Optus (Darwin, Tasmania)
      1800MHz (B3) FDD (0000000000000004) – Telstra, Optus, Vodafone
850MHz (B5) FDD (000000??????????) – Vodafone (refarming 5Mhz of this frequency to be 4G across all metro areas, claiming by end of 2014)
2600MHz (B7) FDD (0000000000000040) – Optus, Telstra. (TPG have a license but have not announced plans for it.)
900MHz (B8) FDD (0000000000000080) – Telstra (a handful of sites, utilises spectrum previously used by 2G)
700MHz (B28) FDD (0000000008000000) – Telstra, Optus (switched on early in a couple of cities, will be widespread in 2015)
2300MHz (B40) TDD (0000008000000000) – Optus (Vivid wireless spectrum), NBN
3500MHz (B42) TDD (????????????????) – Optus, NBN (trials at this stage)

  • +1

    Looks like out of stock.

EDIT: Still other colours available as of 8.30pm aest, albeit $10 more.

    • +1

I think the seller has put it back In stock as at 23:55 (shows 6 available) :D

  • Nexus 5X is released on Wednesday, I think I'll wait for that.

    • Australia dollar has tanked though so I'm not sure what the price will be. Decisions decisions.

  • At risk of sounding like an idiot and possibly repeating a question asked many times before on OzB, what are the notable downfalls in grey stock? I am with telstra (prepaid) if that counts for any relative info you may have. I'm just very keen on this phone, and this price. TIA.

    • There can be a few differences:

      • Branding / bloatware on the phone
      • Local warranty won't be honoured (some sellers give their own warranty though)
      • Updates can be slow depending on which country the phone has been imported from
      • The phone is generally "optimised" for the region, which leads to the array of software on the phone (bloatware)

There really isn't a huge issue with grey imports, just be wary of the seller and definitely make sure they're legit. There is a lot of counterfeiting with phones, especially on eBay. As long as you're smart you won't have any issues and you'll save a bit of money.

      • +1

Very helpful cheers mate. I'll look into it and possibly end up buying this one. Thanks!

        • No worries mate!

        • Note that this model has Chinese bands, which means it won't support all of Telstra's 4g bands, if that is important to you.

        • @brezzo:
From Scud70's post above Telstra should be fine, just Vodafone will be affected.

  • Just to ask if this phone still has memory management issues or has that been fixed with some updates?

  • Has anyone got shipping notification?

    • I emailed them, they advised there's issues with sending out tracking numbers for DHL. They were affected by the typhoon Dujuan in the region recently. I've got an arrival date of 7 October for what it's worth
