Be careful with that though, we don't want to spoil the deal for everybody.

      • -5

If I have time to make a new account and verify my email in the time between speaker and paying they are too slow!

      • Ok

    • -2

Same applies to Oporto. Always done it with a card though I might try this tactic cheers ;)

    • This is why can't get nice things.. People doing illegal greedy things.

      • +2

Unethical? Maybe. Against T&Cs? Yes. Illegal? No.

      • +3

I'm sorry :(. Please don't call the police on me. I think I have done it maybe 2 or 3 times, I don't eat Red Rooster much.

  • -3

I don't support them since they won't give me a straight answer on whether disability pensioners get a discount… even then, they don't apply it to drinks

    • Your post is confused. You can't get a straight answer, then you say you do get a discount but not on drinks?

      • -2

Sometimes I get one, sometimes I don't, the times I do get it they don't include drinks.

        • Quick google shows the discount is for pensioners over 60 only….

So there is your answer. No discount and all the times that you got one, it was a bonus!

    • sorry to be blunt, get over it

      • -2

Exactly, that's why I never buy from there anymore

        • -2

well I hope you spend our tax payer dollars wisely somewhere else then!!

        • +2

@Level380: really. I wish you and those you love [?], luck in the future and you are never disabled and qualified for a pension [look at guidelines to get it and most Humanresourses staff follow the rules].
https://www.ozbargain.com.au/user/68450 Shit happens! That why we live in Australia and that we Australians support those that do need help. I truly hope that we stop taking ' consultants advice that seems to come from the USA ' and vitriol radio jocks and current affair type shows By the way, also look at the spending needs of most/many pensioners is that they spend almost 100% of their income on food the rest has gst.

        • +3

          @Level380:
I'm more than happy to send my tax dollars to those with disabilities. Time to drastically cut "family" welfare and send more to those really in need.

Sick to death of seeing such a ridiculous amount of my tax dollars subsidising child care for for mothers who don't work. If you're a stay at home mother, why on earth do you need child care! Cut this now and send it to those actually deserving, ie. the aged and those disabled.

        • +2

          @Level380:

I am FULLY entitled to it, I have suffered injuries through attempting to save other peoples lives. I do spend them wisely, believe me. Hence why I can drive what I drive.

        • @Level380: HAHAHA,crackup.

        • @Kevan2: wasn't aware that those in need, needed red rooster! So we should get two for one rooster rolls for ever pension now!?

        • @PainToad: So from you're comments we should cut gov child care subsidising and then redirect all that money to the disabled/pensions so they can afford to buy red rooster.

Cause this is what the OP was complaining about, not buying red rooster unless they get a 10% pension discount, which you have to be over 60yo to get. So by doing what you say, I guess they can afford it now!

        • +1

@kronicmacstigator: I never said you're not entitled to it. You made a big deal about being on a disabled pension and not being able to buy red rooster with the 10% discount that pensioners get, then neg'd my post that said you have to be 60 years or over to get the discount as you're clearly under this age limit.

All I said, was spend your money wisely elsewhere if you refuse to buy it. You're the one who came here to complain about red rooster on a free $5 off deal. Which to me, $5 off would be better value than 10% discount, unless you're a hungry pensioner who buys over $50 in one sitting!

        • @PainToad: positive vote lodged 4u.

Funding maternity leave is interesting situtation as home care mothers situtation is also.

Unfortunally one policy can not cover all that is needed.

The way I see most Governments in Australia both state and federal only use the silo view. Each minister, head of department looks at achieving their own KPA,s (which includes a 3/4 year result) rather than looking at the full effect/benefit/damage that strategy will do.

Reduce welfare age care home - increase demand for hospital beds - increased demands for health support (not eating properly' not buying meds or selling them, aged drug dealers - yes some get old). Let's transfer the problem from Hank to not him.

Any how we seem to be on the same page but using different fonts!

        • @Kevan2: So what does red rooster provide in the effect/benefit cycle then? ;)

  • +2
    • +1

When I click the link for the family deal it shows up at $19.99 less $5 would make it $14.99 not $15.95

  • +1

I just tried to register and it said only available in WA?

    • +1

Never mind, you can just ignore that message and keep going with the registration

  • Relatives bought 2 full chickens on 3 different occasions (so it wasn't a 1 off) and I was stunned at how small they were. Not much bigger than a big quale. They seem heaps bigger in the supermarket deli window.

    • Bs. If that were true why would you continue to purchase?

      • +2

Read the post. Relatives bought them over for lunch over the space of a couple of months (3 times). Each time they were similar size (Tiny). I carved them each time. I don't really care if you believe me. Do you think I own a Chicken Treat store and am trying to drum up business for myself by slandering the competition????

      • coz they were lazy & couldn't be bothered cooking?

    • i have found myself that the quarters i've bought vary in size, mostly too small imho, i never buy the whole chickens there though coz i can get much cheaper ones at my the supermarket.

  • yeah wonder if its going to be as useless as the oporto 'free' $5 which i can't use anywhere..

    • When did you last try it? I retried mine a few weeks after launch and it was redeemed without issue.

Hopefully Red Rooster has learnt from the mistakes of its sister company and will be properly prepared. It seems to have been working fine in WA.

      • I tried it twice and was told I had to buy $15 worth of food for it to be active, like a reward system

        • +3

i hope you complained to head office. individual stores can't just make up new rules when they don't feel like participating in the rewards program

  • +1

Totally unrelated to the deal but my local Red Rooster is going to start delivering !

    • +1

My local already done, ordering is done through Menulog. I ordered some food the other night, $16.99 for a whole chicken and $7.99 for a rooster roll. Free delivery over $25, but as you can see they jack the prices up to cover it!

I didn't care at the time, I was drunk and didn't want pizza.

Does anyone else remember a weird 'pre-registration' thingy that was run by red-rooter about a year ago? It would seem this is what it was foreshadowing. Did anyone out there join back then, and if so is there now a 'loyalty pay-off'?!?

    • +2

I did but haven't heard anything. A bit annoyed I am hearing this here.
If nothing comes through from the pre-registration it means some marketing wannabe wasted 5 minutes of my life and I will use the hack from the first comment to charge it back.

  • S6 anyone notice it makes your screen bright as hell and removes option to dim when on "my card" screen

    • Noticed this with the Oportos app (same company). This is actually really, really stupid. Could lead to burn in, for people with AMOLED screens.

      • I think it's to make the QR/barcodes easiest to read.

        • So making their staff's job easier, is more important than their customers' expensive phones?

        • @PainToad:

It should make your transaction easier too, not having to fumble around trying to scan the thing. Is it a problem for the limited time you're on the "my card" screen?

I'm genuinely asking, not arguing a point from either side, though I'd be more likely to take your side. :)

        • @Scrooge McDuck:
Probably not for the limited it's being scanned. But if some distracted customer chucked the phone back in their handbag with screen still on (especially since many phablet users use filo cases), it wouldn't take much time to cause issues.

Just doesn't sit right with me. App developers have no right to be fiddling with this IMO.

          Just my opinion.

  • Free Classic Quarter + 390ml drink, Regular Flayva Combo, or the Regular Rippa Classic Combo on birthday

How do you choose where to have lunch on your birthday?

    • +1

I went to Hakataya - free $13 lunch AND dinner if you can handle it

    • +3

my bday lunches take up the whole day ^_^

    • Have a different birthday for each food place loyalty program and get discounts multiple times a year.

      • until they ask for photo id like some subway stores do >_>

        • Good point. I guess I'd have to look up the terms and conditions first.

anyone else getting errors trying to install app from play store?

  • "Register request timeout. Please try again later".

    Quality!

  • Anyone got trouble with this damn App? It doesn't work on either of my phones, despite any other App working fine on them.

The Rooter App doesn't even install on of them (505 error!)

    • +1

Just tried. Getting the same error. Ceebs finding a solution..

  • Just tried to install this - downloads the entire file but won't work. Went through all the problem solving steps - won't work. Dozens of comments beneath the app saying - you guessed it - doesn't work, LOL.

    Same error - 505.

  • +1

I emailed RR… Apparently it's android's fault that the app they wrote doesn't work on android and they don't plan on fixing it. Then said lots of apps don't work on android. LOL.

The company obviously wanted the thing coded to compete with places like Hungry Jacks shake & win, Dominos order app, etc. But due to poor coding it doesn't work on half the devices in Australia. Most customers just shrug and forget about it. But the customers that try to download it (who therefore would obviously be the ones to USE it) email them and say, "Hey, do you guys realise this app won't even install."… instead of going, "Gee thanks, we better look into and fix that…" they tell you it's the fault of an entire operating system, so they can't fix it.

    • I'm running Android and I managed to get the App to install. I'm not sure it's working properly however. I got my $5 off which got me a free lunch (I brought my drink with me), but I still kept getting email reminders to redeem my voucher even after I had redeemed it.

      • +1

I gave up, went into the store, they gave me a card, I registered online on my phone. But I had to swap SIM cards first to use the internet, because they said they've only just got free WiFi in the store, and didn't know the password yet!?

Manager wanted to watch as I tried to install it 3 times. Then took a photo of the error screen. Said they'd chase RR head office about it - because what was the point of promoting the stupid thing if it didn't work.

Seems they'll probably get the answer I did though - it installs on a few phones, so we don't intend to fix it for the rest.

I too got a couple of email reminders to redeem - after they already did so manually through their cash register.

Oh - and their free WiFi didn't need a password and was working after all.

  • Free 5 voucher, do I need to order using apps to get this?
