  • Not as good as the other offer for me. I'm into my first month of "Two Months of Unlimited Movie Rentals for Only $5!"

    http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/20332

and I have already got over 10 dvds. I should be able to get atleast 22 by the time the trial is up :)

I guess depends if you think the $5 is worth the extra DVDs or not and of course, how quickly you watch/return them in an 'unlimited' situation. At the rate you're going, I would think the $5 you paid is a bargain!

Years ago, on their unlimited 3-DVD-at-a-time plan, I was able to get 25-30 DVDs/month but that was very rushed. ;)

Now a days, the 8 DVDs/month will probably keep me busy enough.

    • This offer was much better as it included the High demand premium titles. I too am about 1 month into this offer.

Their free trials are quite good but once you sign up the turn over time becomes very slow and you almost always miss out on what you actually want.

Agree. I actually gave them the fick on Friday - I found more and more DVDs were being sent from Perth (I'm in Melbourne) and hardly any were sent from my own state. They were taking way too long to get to me.

      • I'm on a 2 month trial at the moment and the turnaround is pretty good, provided I actually return the discs promptly. Hope it stays like that or I won't be keeping it either.

        • I had been with Quickflix for quite a while and it had been good up until approx 2 months ago when they started sending more and more from Perth. They were receiving my returned DVDs within a day or so but when they sent me DVDs from Perth (which happened alot) it was taking 3 or 4 days to receive them. From QLD it took 2-3 days.
I did email them about this. I had quite alot of DVDs in my queue so my argument was why not send DVDs from my list that were available in Vic or NSW.
One good thing though - they sent me 3 gift cards before Christmas to give to friends or family - each one had a 3 month trial on it.
The speed they send the DVDs isn't really an issue when you aren't paying.

          • @chichi: Yeah, although I don't have to wait as long as you, I find this annoying too. The new titles seem to come from Perth whereas all the others come from Melbourne. Melbourne delivery is 1 day whereas Perth is 2 days.

The strange part is that the Perth ones get sent back to Melbourne.

  • Does this offer include Blu-Ray, and if so, can we just cancel it after the 2 months?

    • Yes, Blu Ray is included.

This trial code sounds like it was written by a LOLCat. "AMS_EMPOWERED_2M8". I ams empowered to mate. Indeed :-)

  • Just so people know, it is extremely easy to cancel with quickflix once you decide to not take them up after the trial :) I know from experience. Phonecall lasted about 30 seconds!

  • Can you get this trial even if you've had a trial before?

    • +2

Unfortunately, no - refer to T&C. However you can if you're registering under a different address (i.e. moved houses?). I also recommend using a different credit card as well.

  • I joined quickflix last month using their free trial, not very impressed, a lot of movies having a very long waiting list, I never got sent the movies I really wanted to watch. Bigpond is a lot better in that respect.

check out my favourite www.oovie.com.au, free movie every Wed!

    • oovie is not the same thing as delivered movies.
At few of my local rental stores I can get any DVD/Blue-Ray for $1.

  • I used the quickflix free trial last month and I was surprised at how often I did get my first few dvd's that were on the top of my queue.

Although I do have a problem with their box sets- I got kept on getting sent dvds out of order ie-

I got sent dvd 2 then dvd 5 and then dvd 6 of a box set when I had not even gotten the first dvd of the boxset yet. It doesn't really bother me but I'm sure it would bother other people who didn't have the resourcefulness of myself to get around a problem like that ;)

  • I signed up for free trial almost a month ago and just now I got an email from quickflix notifying that my trial period will end in 5 days. I thought I got 2 months free trial? Anyone else experienced the same thing? Thanks.
