Coles Belgian Dark Chocolate 150g - 99c

340

I did a quick search and didn't find this deal already posted. Which surprises me because it's been running at my local store for over a week, just when I expect stock to be gone there is loads more there. Perhaps they are scaling this block down to 100g size?

Anyway 99c, bargain. Good tasting chocolate, better than Cadbury's but calling it "belgian chocolate" might be a stretch also, I prefer Aldi's chocolate but this is still very nice.

Not a bad deal, any decent chocolate at 1c a gram or less is a good deal in my books, but personally this down sizing is pissing me off, lets take 50g away and charge the same price then on top of that the companies e.g coles rolls back the price as a sale, how the hell do you roll back the price when you changed the size a few months back… how about you roll back the size…. this has even been applied to the old 60g bars now look 53g etc

    /rant off

  • I hope my local coles has this.

  • I'm currently eating some I got last week! Use by date is 5 April 2010. They only had Fruit & Nut at mine. Definitely clearance so availability will vary. Looks like they are tidying up their storerooms at some Coles supermakets ;-)

The chocolate is actually made in Belgium so it's fair enough to call it "Belgian chocolate" although I'm sure the Belgians can make crap chocolate too ;-)

  • mm thats my fav choc (fruit and nut lol_

  • Coles' Belgian chocolate is very tasty. I would choose it over Cadbury's standard offerings any day. BigW also sells Belgian chocolate at 1c/1g as a regular price. Different manufacturer to the one Coles uses, but also high quality.

    • I agree - Coles' Belgian Chocolate is great. But didn't they change the bigger blocks from 250g to 200g? And it tastes different and not as good :( The 150g ones if you can find them around these days are the older ones and are great

      • Taste pretty good to me and as I said above (if anyone is concerned about "best before" dates) mine are dated 19/09/2011 so there's no rush if you want to stock up ;)

      • I looked at the nutritional informatoin on both the new and old design packs. They're identical so I assume that the recipe must be the same.

I used to get this chocolate all the time at my Coles, but then is disappeared. It's been replaced with 'Coles' brand (not 'You'll love Coles') and the chocolate has changed too. It's not a good as before.

It looks like some stores still have it and are clearing it out. If you like it, get it while you can!

    • all the good chocolate has changed for the worse - cadbury has changed and the coles one has changed :(

    • Yeah, "Coles" is the new brand, as YLC has been ditched (mother's focus groups didn't like the term). As far as I know, this was just a packaging change that caused the stock clearance. That said, it was mostly done some months back and many stores got rid of it some time ago.

  • Anyone able to confirm if this is at Hornsby?

I didn't see it there today (nor any half-price icecream).

Go to the other side of the aisle with icecream and you will see some dip for $49c (if you're quick; it's near expiry date).

    Cheers,
    Bizi

    • "half price icecream" is in the catalogue beginning this thurs 21 Jan. that's y u didn't c it!

  • I just went to my local coles and they didn't have any.

    • but I bought some sour snakes and some regular snakes (2 for $3) - so its all good.

  • No luck at Northcote Plaza, VIC

  • lol i was gonna post a 200g belgian chocolate for $1.99 from woolies but this is much better
funny though on the back of the packet it says made for BIG W

  • Used to buy this chocolate all the time, it was great value when on sale. It has been replaced in all my local stores (Perth North West) with new packaging and some chocolatiers photo on the front.

The new chocolate is either from Belgium or Germany (can't remember) but does not taste as good as this one.

So get it while you still can…

  • none at pyrmont coles.

  • Good deal indeed, I don't really know about the better than cadbury bit, but its quite amazing choc coming from big woolies, worth a try its good stuff.

  • Nothing @ Northland Coles, VIC.
