Changing Electricity Provider in NSW

Thinking about changing from Energy Australia to other company, may be Intergal Energy.

Energy Australia used to ask for contracting and discount off, but back in a few years ago, they don't bother to do it (i.e. no competition, not worth to give you discount!)

I know this site http://www.switchselect.com.au/

But it is worth to change for a normal household? How could it change over?
Can anyone share their experience?

  • I used www.choiceswitch.com.au and the best deal was an Origin one month free offer which amounted to an 8% discount. Typically the discounts on offer were 3-5% when I was comparing deals.

Switched my electricity from AGL to Origin and it went fine. But the changeover doesn't occur until after your next meter reading and because that only happens every few months, it can be a long time between requesting the change and finally getting your first bill from the new retailer.

When I switched my parents over from Energy Australia to Origin as well, the change didn't go through properly and it ended up being like seven months after initially requesting the switch before they were first billed by Origin.

    • I would just used these comparison sites for your information and once you identify the energy provider and its plan, then contact the company directly to switch over because I am sure the company you are joining will act immediately upon your call. There is no doubt that they will delay for a few months.

I am with Origin but still not sure if I am with best deal especially after their introducing credit card processing fee. Time to shop around and leave.

  • Origin's price is good. But they are charging 0.6% of paying by credit card, that diminished the discount!
