I read the Ts&Cs but can't figure out if the price displayed when going through that link already shows the 2-for-1 price or not. I went through the process of completing passenger details for 3 people but they all showed the same price. I was expecting to see 1x 2-for-1 and 1x full price. I got 3x $410 (approx) for KUL-SYD (one way) in July. When selecting 2 people, I got the exact same rate (2x $410). I believe the normal price is $560 or so?

    • Have you tried booking the same tickets, with their usual website @ airasia.com? That might give you a better comparison for normal price vs using the link.

      • Yes, normal link shows $560 for 1 person vs $410 per person (for 2 or 3 people) via the link.

    • I'm not sure if you have to follow the booking all the way through in order to see the discount taken off. I checked SYD-Osaka and it came up $880p/p, $1760 total. Now if I were to go through further with the booking I'd assume that when an Amex card number is entered, the price would reduce back to $880. If it's not doing that then it's a bit misleading.

      • For Mel-ICN return 2 May - 8 May, I went further to the booking page and even entered my card number, CVC and other details. The fare was still the same $3,380. Maybe destination specific?

    • From the promo page:

      1. Click the “Book Your Flights” link below.
      2. Select your destination.
      3. Select your preferred travelling dates. (Please take note on embargo period & travel period)
      4. Select the number of passengers. (Offer is only valid for bookings made in pairs, e.g. 2, 4, 6 or more)

So this won't work with 3 passengers.

      • It doesn't 'work' with 2 passengers either. The only reason I put in 3 people was to see if there would be a difference in price.

  • Does this include bank issued amex cards? Eg anz, nab or cba amex?

    • I would expect so?

    • Yes, I clicked through from the offer via my Amex Connect (bank issued) page.

Just booked KL to Melb for 2950MYR roughly $800 for 2 (ie $400ea), gotta be pleased with that… August 2016, overnight flight! I used my (no fee)Qantas Amex Card, but it didn't look like using Amex was mandatory (just use the link). But as I have a low interest (3.99%) offer on the card for 6 months, I was happy to Amex.

You pay interest on your credit card? That's sinful.

But the normal rate is only $623 or so that time of year right? Still a decent saving but not half price as far as I can see.

      • I would say its 2for1 of the base fare, Still have to pay the taxes for the additional person thats why not truly 241

Just a guess at how there other sales have worked.

    • +1

How did you manage to pay? When I select the payment type from the drop down, there's no Amex available. Only the BIG cards, Visa and Mastercard.

  • Anyone getting the unsupported error message when booking flights via the link?

    • Keep trying, or use another browser

  • +1

How did you guys pay with Amex? I am at the checkout screen and the drop down list doesn't list Amex.

  • didn't work for me either. No option to use Amex at checkout, and it's also showing up as each adult paying over $800 for SYD-Osaka during the valid period.

I asked American Express about this unclear offer, and this is the response I got back:

We have received a reply from the campaign manager.
They have found an issue with this offer – thank you so much for bringing this to our attention.
We could not find our card in a payment option either and the discount rate was not exactly the 50% as advertised.
The campaign manager has advised us to immediately remove this offer from the Connect site.
We apologise for the inconvenience caused on this matter. However, we dearly appreciate you taking the time to provide us with your feedback.
We do not know whether we will re-publish the fixed Air Asia offer at this stage. Nevertheless, the merchant team is keep looking to find the offers/deals that interest our card members. So we do appreciate your kind understanding on this matter.
