Pre-Order Risk - Game of Thrones Board Game, $72.99 with Free Shipping @ OzGameShop

290

From the product description: "This is a pre-order - the item will be despatched to you on or before the release date of 13/11/2015 - subject to change by the publisher."

Was looking for the cheapest price to order the relatively new, 'Risk - Game of Thrones' Board Game. Out of the 15 websites I checked online, OzGameShop definitely had the best price. If you have some points saved up from previous purchases, you can trade them in for a voucher (having just 2,500 points will give you a $2.50 voucher). Great Christmas present for people who like strategy board games (such as Risk of course) or Game of Thrones :)

If you want it sooner, it seems as though Milsims Games has the board game available to order for $84.00 (price includes shipping), which is the next best option.

  • Do you have to dress up to play?

    • +9

Dressing up is encouraged for maximum enjoyment. For safety reasons however, please ensure no wine, long sharp swords, bow and arrows, knives or suspicious looking pies are within arms reach when beginning your game.

      • You missed crossbows

      • DISCLAIMER: We do not advise playing this at wedding afterparties.

    Beware of Milsims….bad experiences.

    • +1

Ah, haven't heard of them being bad before. Haven't ordered from them either though. I know games paradise has a pretty poor reputation

      • +3

They will get it you… eventually, in my experience, but they are notoriously bad at having stock and will often take months (and sometimes years to dispatch) things..

      • +5

Can't be as bad as Games Paradise. Nothing is as bad as Games Paradise.

But anyway, Milsims is about a 5 minute drive from me so if they ever have a good deal I'll pop down. So far no purchases.

    • +6

I guess you're taking a risk when you're ordering from them?

    • +1

Had one experience with milsims. Ordered 5 items when they were in stock. Postman arrives and upon opening the box, only one game. Their response was A LISTING ERROR. I waited 3 months for two games and then had to wait 3 months after many many calls and emails for the remaining refund. No apology, no excuse, just bad service. STAY AWAY.

    • If you want to get products any time in the near or distant future, I would avoid them. Nothing is in stock, despite website saying it is. Marginally better than Games Paradise, but that is like saying Hitler is marginally better than Satan*

      • Not even an exaggeration.
    • I quite like milsims. I also like how I can pickup orders from Tactics since i'm in Perth

      • do you just do store pick up, and it gives the option to pick up at tactics Im just in a buy screen now but dont want to continue the order until i know for sure :)

        • I work in the city so just go into the store when making the order. Maybe just ring either place?

  • Another price bumped licensed old board game… the things we pay for to get the same game :)

I want a print-your-own paper risk-like board game so I can draw my own characters and countries.

  • +3

Milsims is very average with poor CS, but Games Paradise is quite a bit worse.

  • Have ordered from ozgameshop numerous times for the last few years - probably close to 100 products
    Very efficient. No complaints.

  • OzBargain is coming.

    • -2

      Summer is coming.

Why not suit up in chain mail and head to the beach to play this game?

  • I wouldn't buy this game, I have it and it does not include enough army pieces. For a 4 player game we used two house's armies and still ran out!

  • +4

Crazy mark up from standard risk .. About 3x

Laughing all the way to the Iron bank

    • It's also 3 games in one - with two different game boards which you can play together or separate.

"You can play a multiplayer game (using Westeros or both Westeros and Essos if you have lots of players), the same game in a less-traditional, more GoT style using cards and gold, or a two player version where you can be House Targaryen or the Ghiscari slavers and duke it out for control of Essos."

    Hey guys

For those who don't want to wait and want to pay a little less.

    http://www.gameology.com.au/products/game-of-thrones-risk

We have matched beaten that price. The first 5 orders will be dispatched within 24 hours, all orders after that will be dispatched by Thursday (need to get more stock). We also send from Melbourne rather than the UK.

    Cheers

    • I tried using the signup coupon and my shipping jumped from free shipping to that costing $10, if I don't use the coupon, I get free shipping, that's dodgy mate!

      • +1

        Hey mate,

I am really sorry, I'm not sure if our website has a workaround for using multiple coupons at the moment.

I will try and get this fixed.

        Cheers

        Justin

        • appreciate the reply, I only used one coupon though.

          Cheers!

    • Thanks for the dynamic bargain, Justing197.

Can you offer any other Ozbargain specials? I'm recently interested in board games and I've been looking around for the best prices!

      • +2

        Yes we can.

We are just starting out, so our range isn't as big as the other ones, but we are signed up to almost every distributor so if it is sold elsewhere we can usually beat it.

We are more focusing on getting the really new stuff in at the moment. I have found we get games almost 6 months after the states which just isn't fair!

        • Good to see some more local competition in this space. My biggest issue with our local board games market vs the US is price! It's so cheap and easy for Americans to order games on Amazon.

Do you offer pickup from anywhere?

Also, your subscribe button is broken FYI!

        • But your website claims that "Gameology has Australia's largest range of games". Is that not true?

    • Pretty sure I was one of the first 5 orders and still waiting.

  • I saw it at EB Games on the weekend https://ebgames.com.au/loot-207531-Game-of-Thrones---Risk-Lo…. More expensive but at least it is available if you want it now.

  • I got it last week from Zing pop culture for $70.

    • We can match that price for pick up in south east Melbourne area. :)

  • Why is this more expensive than standard Risk?
Does it have extra pieces or cards? Or is it just a change of map?
