WTF? only a tiny number of full size laptops have desktop processors, and they are massive dedicated gaming machines.
And to G_Man, next time you are in DSE, go touch one of the display netbooks they have sitting idling on the shelf, then go do the same with one of their laptops. There is a massive difference in outside case temps, in the full size laptops favour.
I’ve just got one of these;

Works a treat, and yes the laptop dwarfs this cooling pad, but it easily supports the weight and does a good job. Just raising a laptop so it can get air makes a huge difference.
Give your notebook fan / cooling inlet a vacuum. Lint and dust gets trapped between the start of the heatsink and the fan wind tunnel joint, and it gets clogged up. My Toshiba got hotter and hotter and I ended up pulling it apart only to discover it had a hair ball covering 1/2 of the joint between the heatsink and the wind tunnel. Now I vac the cooling fan inlet (reverse the airflow) once every 3-4 months, and the results are pretty noticable.
I am sick and tired of people saying they’re selling LED screens.
THIS IS NOT AN LED SCREEN!
This is an LED backlit screen, BIG DIFFERENCE.
I will retract my negative vote when this is changed, as this seems like a decent deal. Does it come with an operating system?
Hi Koonit, we have updated the photo showing led backlit. This is been marketed by Samsung see following link for a product release with LED backlit screen. http://www.smarthouse.com.au/Reviews/Home_Office/P5H6K7P5
Anyway, please kindly retract the vote mate.
And YES, Windows 7 Starter is included together with host of Samsung software.
You are kidding me right?
LED screens exist it’s just that they’re not available to consumers currently, because the technology is yet to mature.
Proof? Here;
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/LED_display#Flat_Panel_LED_Tele...
You have heard of OLED screens right? Much the same. Would you have known what an OLED screen was 2 years ago?
Maybe you should actually read the wiki article you posted instead of being a belligerent twat. Secondly using wikipedia as a credible source is also another one of your failings. Thirdly the LED technology you are referring to is OLED.
And as I said previously, OLED technology has been used in mobile phones for years:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/OLED#Commercial_uses
http://www.cnet.com.au/sony-ericsson-z610i-339272115.htm
A sony phone from 2006 using OLED just as an example.
And to push the point even further, OLED’s have been used in mobile phones as early as 2001:
http://www.oled-info.com/oled-mobile-phones.
Maybe you should get your facts straight before going on an uninformed unjustified rant. idiot.
Are you ready to eat your hat now?
Thanks for doing your research maybe some potential customers won’t be saying they own an LCD monitor after reading some of this information.
We were not talking about the use of OLED screens in mobiles, but the fact that LED screens are entirely different to LED backlit screens. You agree with me on that. I only mentioned OLED because it a known and used screen format which people know about. Making it easier to identif as being used in screens, albiet currently quite small screen on the consumer level.
I don’t mind having a conversation regarding these things but this is probably not the place for it.
LEDs are fairly new and available as large panels only in last year or so, theyre typically more expensive than LCD or plasma of the same size, adv being power saving much thinner appearance, LED backlit on the otherhand is bit different, most consumers havent heard of LED HDTV yet
and everyone who’s talking about actual LED screens (rather than LED backlit LCD screens) calls them OLED. Probably to help avoid this sort of confusion.
Still, I have to give props to a madman’s crusade to have the correct terminology used. God knows I’ve been guilty of such things in the past.
:)
LCD - what we always had.
LED Backlit LCD, better contrast / true black. Probably slightly better battery life too. (which is what this is, a lot of IT distributors are describing this as LED)
OLED the ultra thin stuff you see that are thinner than your finger width.
So there are 3 different things.
That’s a slightly different model with an ATOM N270 as opposed to an N280 in what Topbuy are offering (N130-JA02AU)
