Shoppie.com.au: New Amazon Price Comparison Website for Australians - Would Love Your Feedback

Hi Ozbargainers,

A few months ago, I was tearing my hair out working out the cheapest seller of a particular item on Amazon to Australia, and half of the time it didn't ship when I went to checkout.

A friend and I decided to create a website that could easily find the cheapest price shipped to Australia for a particular item.

The site is in beta (or alpha perhaps!), so we'd appreciate feedback. Still working on a few known bugs in the mobile version of the site and facebook/google login doesn't work.

If there's anything that you think the site is missing, or you think would be good to see, we'd love your feedback.

I hope this becomes a useful tool for the OzBargain community.

Be sure to check out the home page for the latest deals. Wherever you see a price on the site, it will be the price including shipping.

  • the ONLY items you'll see on the site are those that ship to Australia - if it's on there, it ships…
  • set an email alert on a product and receive an email when it drops below a certain amount (in AUD)
  • price history graph - in AUD, showing shipping history too
  • paste in any amazon URL into the search bar and have shoppie work out the best deal

URL is: https://shoppie.com.au

Also a page here that shows the cheapest items shipped to Australia: https://shoppie.com.au/categories/view/?sort=price_asc&filte… - watch out for this one though lots of the really cheap stuff is probably a pricing error, but hey why not take a stab on a 1 cent hotwheels car?

Cheers

Including the shipping price is a nice touch. I suggest moving the "Browse by Category" column to the left hand side.

    • Thanks for the feedback - sidebar on left would look better, will do this.

      • I assume the shipping price included is the cheapest?

Font and colors look good. More filters would be nice.

        • Yep - we always include the cheapest shipping option in the calculation. We crawl every single seller for a certain product, calculate the price + shipping and return the cheapest seller shipped to Australia.

Search box doesn't seem to be working on mobile.

Thanks for the feedback - mobile is a bit of a dogs breakfast right now. I'll try to do a bit more testing and make sure at least the basics work tonight.

      • Let me know if I can assist.

    Great stuff…
While looking up this nice Bruder truck:
    Amazon link: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003EEMIUO?psc=1&redirect=t…
It referred me to this ebay site:
    http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Bruder-3554-Vehicule-Miniature-Ca…
    Shoppie.com.au had (Price/Shipping/Total: $43.42/$49.89/$93.31)
    Actual ($66.08/$75.92/$142.00)
I think the issue was EUR vs USD conversions…
    Thanks for the site.

    • Thanks for pointing that out - Looks like there's an issue with the price calculation on some eBay items, will definitely fix that soon.

  • Wherever you see a price on the site, it will be the price including shipping.

This wallet at https://shoppie.com.au/product/view/B0002DFLHM showed prices at US$0.76 and AU$1.05.

When I clicked to buy, Amazon showed the price at US$0.76 + US$13.69 shipping.

Just letting you know, I'm sure you'll fix this kind of thing before long.

    • Thanks for that - was a bug on certain amazon products. Funnily enough Amazon's shipping estimator was wrong in this case as well (one of the reasons we were so keen to make this) - if you go to checkout it's actually $3.90 shipping not $13.69. Fixed now with the correct shipping.

Looks like a great idea! Would be nice if it added on the GST for Australian orders over $1000 too.
    e.g: this JBL subwoofer: https://shoppie.com.au/product/view/B00166VDLC the total is over $1000, so $1408.28 + 10% = $1,549.11

    • Great idea - definitely something we will do.

  • Great effort! When you get the pricing nuances (as mentioned above) bedded down, this will be such valuable resource for AU shoppers. Drilled down straight to Lego to find, yes, still bloody expensive (no fault of yours, of course!)

    Thanks for this :)
