Lenovo Iomega 2TB 70A29001AP EZ Media Backup Center Network Attached Storage $109 Pickup @ MSY

260

Long time lurker, first time poster - after all these years I thought it was about time I gave one back. I know these have been posted before but at $109 I am sure it is cheaper than ever.
I grabbed one of these yesterday and figured it was worth posting. The NAS does not show up in a browse on the MSY website, only by searching the part number (or click the link) NASLN70A29001AP, and there is limited stock available for all stores as they are presumably clearing them out. I reserved one and picked it up no probs, there was 3 left at SA CBD yesterday.

With the latest firmware installed the device seems quite good, I'm using it as a network backup target. Worth it at this price just for the drive IMO. Interestingly enough the interface reports that a Seagate ST2000DM001 drive is installed, these are $99 from MSY by themselves.

Looks like this nas has lots of issues, http://www.amazon.com/Iomega-Media-Backup-Center-35541/dp/B0…

Regardless, order one just for the hard drive, hopefully they don't canned my pick up order as they have always done that before!

  • Well the price is excellent considering it includes a 2TB drive.

Don't expect great performance, but it is a better solution than connecting a USB drive to a router.

    Don't expect to do transcoding.

Power as low as 5W when drives are spun down which is excellent.

  • Yes, I would certainly put the newest firmware on it before doing anything, and the performance isn't exactly stellar but it was perfect for my application. I have moved nearly 1TB of data onto it and it has verified, seems to function well as a CIFS target and thats all I was after.

  • can this take other HDD?

    • You mean a second one? No.

      • I mean replacing the one inside with higher capacity?

I've got a seagate and wd 3TB hdd that I want to use instead.

  • I just broke out the 1tb that I have from a SE trifecta and set it up this morning. Cheaper, lower power option for media streaming than my ReadyNas Ultra.

  • Bought one when it was $99 in June from this prior deal https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/197438.

  • out of stock in many places

  • Any luck for sydney?

  • I brought the ix4-300d 4 bays version early this year for $191 w/o disk.

Not a bad NAS, but lacks of softwares support.
