Foxtel Platinum HD 1 Month Offer - $25 (Save $109) NO LOCK IN CONTRACT

190

I was shown this offer from Foxtel which is alright for 1 month. Comes with every channel including Sport, Movies, Comedy and Music channels for $25 (only valid for one month) and free installation with NO lock in Contract. Other inclusion are iQ2 equipment (online orders only) $0.

I personally wouldn't stay any longer than 1 month due to it going back to the original price, although you can negotiate a better price after one month, but highly unlikely you would be able to get it for $25. Probably approximately $70 is more realistic….

Here are some basic T&Cs:

You'll struggle to get support on ozbargain for foxtel.

Agreed - I am not a fan also, but thought it a pretty good deal for one month leading up to the Christmas Holidays… Not for me, but could be for someone else hence me sharing it with the Ozbargain community.

    • But you might find plenty of people tempted to order it for December to keep the kids entertained for the first 4 weeks of the holiday. I'm tempted to order it for the grandparents and cancel it after one month.

At $25 Foxtel have to be making a loss :-).

I'll cancel my foxtel subscription from June next year for an obvious reason.

    • Why June?

      Edit: Found reason.

      • Care to share?

Seems like right to sports - English Premier League - is moving away from Foxtel = no reason to pay $100+ a month for just channels of other random crap and reality show BS and endless ads!

          See more comments below…

    • That's exactly what I am planning to do. One less excuse to stay with them. (The other excuse is too lazy to call them up and return the IQ box)

  • Jaysus that's expensive at full whack….

    • Yeah it is ridiculous! I can't, for the life of me, fathom why people would pay full price (or even close to it)! I'm sure most people don't…

      • Most people dont, MAJORITY of people will get basic and an extra pack more often than not. Usually either basic and sport, or basic and prem drama.

    No EPL = No Foxtel

  • +1

Looks like they're starting their intense sales strategy leading up to Christmas trying lure in a new customer base after losing on the EPL deal to Optus. They probably expect a tonne of cancellations in August 2016.

    • +1

      June to be exact

  • +1

    Whats EPL?

    • +3

English Premier League… aka English soccer.

    • +1

      EPL means "English Premier League"

      • ohh thanks. got it

  • Bring the Aleague to Optus too!

  • Semi related question - is there any legal, non-geo hack ways to watch Game of Thrones in Australia without Foxtel?

EDIT: and not having to wait until the season is over ala iTunes…?

  • Stupid question…

But what are the alternatives for channels (not movies or series) for foxtel ?

And is netflix a good option for Movies and series ?

    • +1

      Personally I've got a VPN ($5US a month through Unblock-us).
I use Netflix which I'm lucky someone else pays for, but if you can split it between users then it's a bit cheaper. ~$9AUD a month
I also watch Hulu, it's good for shows as soon as they've aired. I recommended the ad free pack, I went on us eBay and picked up a ~10 month card for $32AUD

So for a full year I would pay around $230 for tv shows and movies (because I don't pay for Netflix though mines $116), I watch Netflix from all over the world ( flixsearch.io is great for seeing what's available in which country) and I can see a few good shows as soon as they've aired on Hulu. Best of all they're all ad free and readily available whenever I want.

If it's any more difficult or expensive than that to watch tv/movies for example game of thrones and walking dead as they air then… Well there's no way in hell I'm paying Foxtel that kind of money for a subpar service filled to the brim with ads.

  • $134 per month. Lol.

Archaic service and pricing. Only surviving because of sports

    • Also areas with shitty or just no real internet. But yeah, largely sports

How do they get the iQ2 back if you cancel after the 1st month?

    • Not to mention you keep the free installation…..

      Wait, what?

    • +1

They send you a box and you drop it off at post office.

  • +2

it's just non stop repeats it's such bad quality.

    • Sadly true now days.

yep foxtel is gonna be in for a big shock when they lose the EPL… i would estimate 10% crash in subscription.

    • I've heard 10% as well but I think it may be much more than that, possibly up to 25%. Literally every person I've spoken to is considering getting rid of it once this season is over. Granted most people I talk to are sport fans, but how many Foxtel subscribers aren't sport fans?

      • I think 10% is about right… a lot of people "talk". I have been talking about getting rid of it for ages… yet still have it for NRL and A-Leauge. Bastards.

My brother in law has kept Foxtel all this time for the EPL. He was thinking to cancel his subscription and just get Netflix.

  • if you like shows about aliens foxtel is for you.
its pretty muchh they show on their doco shows

      Nazi's dude. And Sharks.

  • +1

Enough people cancelling will wake them up to lower the subscription fee.

  • Considering the winter sports are all over now isn't $25 even a bit pricey?

    • If you're more a fan of international sport, it's better value though.

  • +1

I cancelled my Foxtel subscription over a year ago, mainly due to them subtly increasing the price every once in a while. I enjoyed the AFL channels but not for $100+/month. It has not been missed in my house, we are happy with Netflix and I am ok with FTA AFL, this means I only watch the games I need to watch, not just watch for the sake of it…

    • Just keep an eye for a fantasy league where you get a free pack to watch them all live. Been watching the NRl like that for years.

      • For the NRL whats the quality of that like on a tv?

        • I watch it on my laptop or phone and the feeds have been great. I did once cast it to my 60" TV and it was ok, not awesome, but acceptable.

      • Yes had the live packs this year which helped with fantasy league..63rd overall!

  • Calling to see if theyll move my existing basic and sport to this one month platinum hd @ $25

    • +1

new customers only. another nail in the coffin for my subscription…

  • Canceled my Foxtel a while ago like many are saying not worth it cause too much, too many ads and always nothing good on..
I do have a mate that lets me use his foxtel GO sub to watch all the sports i cant see on free to air..

    • +1

Its not HD though is it?

      • Video quality is acceptable on small screen. On a 10" tablet, if you maximize the video, you cannot see who is kicking the football. It also freeze or crash frequently.

  • Took 2.5 years of calls and letters from Foxtel for them to send the return instructions for our IQ2 box after we left. They repeatedly posted it to the wrong address.

  • Hmm, good for about August next year when they show constant Re runs of game of thrones back to back, legally watch season 6!!

  • +1

Yep No EPL No foxtel for me…

Live indian premier league wont cut it for me.

  • Anybody think there is a chance of getting $120 cashback??

  • after the first month can we revert to a $25 package or it must be platinum?

    • I believe you can negotiate to whatever package you want. If you don't like what they have to offer then you can cancel it all together. I would definitely be negotiating the price after the first month! Those prices are just rediculous!! I personally didn't sign up though so good luck with whatever you choose to do.
