Air New Zealand has a sale to the US right now and these fares seem pretty like great value. There's plenty of seats for flights from now through to mid-March 2016. Sale ends Nov 12. Make sure you use coupon NAM300 when quoting. Safe travels :)

  • I'd be looking at Qantas direct first, they've also been on sale. Even if they're a little more, consider the convenience of a direct flight .. :-) .. !! Also, look at the stopover times on ANZ in Auckland in BOTH directions in making your decision, some t imes they're l engt hy, particularly on the return leg. Admission: the author is a QFF member. Hah!!!
Later: I just did a Skyscanner search Brisbane-LAX in March, Qantas $978, ANZ $1040.

    • Brisbane-LAX in March

You do realise this deal is for San Francisco :) But great prices to LA with Qantas!

  • +1

Great deal but the exchange rate atm is :'(

    • Everything is pretty cheap in US anyway isnt it?

      • Not really now lol, but back when our dollar was around the late 80s/90s US cents… it was great

      • +1

Yes it is in USD but when you add almost 40% to convert to the AUD (and then the obligatory 20% tip in a restaurant) it's goodbye cheap .. :-( .. !! In the almost 50 years I've been visiting the USA the best exchange rate was $1.47 and the worst 0.46. At 0.71 its baaad .. !!

      • not really anymore.

      • After taxes and tips, you will find it's pretty much like Australia at the 75c exchange rate.
90+ it's great, over parity isn't awesome, you feel like a millionaire.

Then add in SF tax (very expensive city), and it wouldn't be a cheap trip.

I can't see the dollar rushing above 75c in the near distance future though.

source: spend almost every year in the states. Trip a few weeks ago I only bought back food you can't easily get here (sauces, treats etc). If you really want to save money in the states you need to know how to shop clearance racks at outlet malls. That isn't an easy thing unless you have a car and know the ones to visit and have to time to travel.

  • Good deal from Perth (where you have to make a stop even on Qantas).

  • Hmm didn't know this coupon code works for San Francisco. I wonder if it also works for the direct flights to Houston TX from AKL?

  • i suppose a stop over in NZ would be good, my backside barely made it to NZ airspace flying direct from Melbourne - LAX
