Excellent tablet, have had one since late 2013 and I couldn't be happier. Still good performance and you are almost guaranteed to get the latest Android updates officially from Google.

    • not true. Nexus 2012 no longer gets updates

  • I'm using my nexus everyday and surprised I got the update to marshmallow this month.

Loving it. I would recommend 32 GB because 16 is just too small.

For you but doesn't mean the same for everyone. My wife and I had the 16GB ones without any storage problems.

      • True I'm already at capacity and its because of two games that's 2gig each. Doh

  • I bought one of these a couple of years ago, and it was great until I dropped it. I put a tiny crack on the edge of the unit, and now the touchscreen doesn't work, and I cannot find a single place willing to repair it. It's an absolute waste of $200.

    • Search on ebay for the replacement screen and fix it yourself.

      • Apparently the reason why no one will repair this is because it is extremely difficult

        • I repaired mine myself. Easier than repairing an iPhone screen.

        • From reading a bit, thats perhaps only the case if you are trying to just replace the digitizer instead of the whole screen as they are glued together.

    • I had a similar issue a year ago. I was tempted to get a replacement screen on eBay and fix it myself. Decided it was in the best interests of said tablet and myself to let Asus fix it. They have a service centre somewhere on Parramatta road. Cost me $150-ish. HTH

After a few months using a Nexus 6, it's hard for me to consider a 7" device a "tablet". With phones getting bigger, anyone else starting to leave their tablet to sit and collect dust? Sale figures are down…even for iPads.

Yeah having a 5.5 inch screened phone has made anything smaller than at least 8 inches not worth it imo.

I guess anyone could still make a case for the nexus 7 2013 model. However it should be pointed out that Marshmallow will be the last version of Android on this device.

  • tablets are kind of dying, my toshiba chromebook 13 has replaced my tab s 8.4

    This is so 'yesterday'.

      You're so '20th century'. :P

  • the only reason it retained price so well is due to software updates

    same principle with apple devices

Another $ 99 extra you can get Nexus 9. https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/217766
Nexus 9 is a big improvement on Nexus 7

  • Wife will never go back to 7 inch after using 10 inch.

Did she leave you for another man?

        Umm… Or.. Horse, perhaps ;)

  • Thing is outdated in every way.

    And those bezels man.

    • Actually, not really. It has 2GB of ram, meanwhile shitty Samsung are still pushing tablets with 1-1.5GB to this day.

      • If you're comparing their low end to it, sure.

        • Comparing price point ($200-300).

        • @PainToad: You can do that with a used BMW too, vs a new non-luxury car of today.

Spend a bit more, get much better.

Comparing full price 2015 products to 3 year old products is pointless. Without even going to the very good value china products, there have been many really good ones around this price like Nexus 9 or Nokia N1, with much better looking units, better resolution, much better SOC, etc.

  • Can you salary sacrifice it, if it will be partly paid through the Amazon Gift Card offer? And maybe … what conversion rate to use for AUD/USD? RBA's or Amazon's?

  • Hey, Just wanted to thank you for sharing this. I bought mine for 198$ :) cheers
