The shaving heads cost so much that this isn’t worth it for anyone who didn’t already want this shaver.

For anyone who wants a bargain for a shaver and shaving heads, go to Aldi.

tommyc on 08/02/2010 - 14:21 ¶

Disagree. I’ve been shaving for 15+ years and tried electric razors, various brands of disposable shavers including Aldi.

I only buy these schick titaniums now - the blades last much longer, the shave is always smooth and I never cut myself with them. One blade will last 4-5 times as long as a premium regular blade (ie. Gillette/Schick multiblade razors).

samfisher5986 on 08/02/2010 - 19:05 ¶

Have you actually tried the shavers at Aldi? (not disposable)

They sell their 3 blade titanium blade shavers for $8 including 3 heads

And they sell 6 titanium heads for $7.

If you haven’t tried these then you can’t disagree. I went from Schick titanium straight to this and don’t have any problems.

Kranbone on 08/02/2010 - 22:02 ¶

I’ve never tried the Aldi one but was keen to once my stock of blades runs out. I’m curious to know, is it a good cut, no irritations or cuts?

Gravatar

Kranbone on 08/02/2010 - 22:01 ¶

Everyone is different but it’s always good to hear a genuine opinion.

I myself prefer the Gillette razor and stock up on blades when I get them cheap, sometimes overseas. It’s a shame they cost through the nose but they give a great shave.

rickb on 09/02/2010 - 07:04 ¶

+1 I used to shave with Gillette for 15 years. Needed to replace the blade every 5 shaves. Out of complete boredom I changed to Schik titanium disposables (yes, disposables) and now I change the blade every 15 shaves and a very comfortable shave to boot!

I guess it is a bargain, but you’ll bankrupt yourself buying the replacement heads.

Better to go with the homebrand shavers IMO

I’ve found that your blade will last a LOT longer if you submerse it in olive oil in between shaves. You can use olive oil as a shaving cream too, though you have to be careful not to get messy.

LOL. Maybe we could use the Palm Oil leftover from all the Mi Goreng packs that are on sale at the moment. Win win, we don’t get fat and we get free shaving oil.

Well WA is a bit slow to get stock/unorganised. No stickered kits in Coles, Woolies, or Big W (Belmont).

I’m not buying a kit in a couple of weeks on the off chance it will be refunded.

Sing out if you can find stickered kits in stock anywhere.

cheapsk8 on 08/02/2010 - 19:44 ¶

The missus found one in Woolies Warwick (WA). They had a few (stickered) of both types pictured at 5pm.

Woolies has the non-electric kit on special for $9.74. If Schick ante’s up with the stated $12.99, they are paying me over $3 to take one. I think the battery one was on special also, but the missus didn’t take note of the price (might me $12.xx?).

  • I have put in a PayPal claim and it is NOT paid instantly like the last Schick offer. I guess I’ll wait and see.

  • These shavers are very nice to use, but I have broken a few handles (Woolies has replaced them and the Schick package says they will fully reimburse you if not satisfied). The plastic button that holds the stem in place has broken off and fallen out. The shaver is still usable, but the eject blade button doesn’t work. It might be from donging them on the tiles/sink to clean the blades out (which Schick says not to do). I try not to do it, but sometimes it’s the only way to get the crud out. I expect a handle to last forever and withstand a bit more abuse (I’m not rough with them at all). I still have every handle I have ever bought (of other brands) and have never broken one. It’s poor form from Schick and the reason I want a spare handle (I have a pile of blades to use still).

Bitsurfr on 08/02/2010 - 15:56 ¶

Just went to my local Supabarn and Big W (Canberra Centre) 4.30pm and both did not have the specially marked promo packs, only 1 each of the regular non-promo packs (guess the promo packs haven’t arrived in store yet).

Pretty poor form on Schick’s part. If they’re gonna run a promo with a limited amount for cashback (ie create a sense of urgency), they should ensure there that stock is available from the promo opening time (9am 8/2/10) :S

Too easy, thanks! Submitted and got money in paypal within hours. The only thing is its hard to tell if the 2000 claims have already been done. $9.74 for the shaver plus 2 replacement blades still pretty good if u miss out!

I have a faint feeling that it may not be limited to 2000, but saying so encourages people to buy this one soon rather than later! But then, I could be wrong!

No, you would have had to peel off the sticker to get the code, therefore returned product will be minus the sticker.

Does it even peel off easily?

Would it be worth selling one’s morals over a measly $12?

This systems works on honesty and abusing it will only work to the consumers’ detriment. And of course if one believes in God, He will settle the score sooner or later, and if one doesn’t then one’s karma will.

Franklins at Macquarie Centre, NSW has the Schick Quattro Titanium Freestyle on sale for $13.45 with the stickers. $14.99 cash back. Nice. (I don’t know if other Franklins stores have it on special or if they have the stickers)
