3 Months Audible Membership USD $0.99 (~AUD $1.4)/Month (Existing + New Members)

960
HOLIDAY2015

Good deal especially for those who has an existing account on Audible, as most offers seems to be targeted to new members only. If you don't have an account, join here to get 2 free books, cancel your membership, then sign up for the membership again with the code. This way you get 5 books for USD $2.97

Add the 1 book/month membership then enter the promo code. Don't forget to cancel after 3 months if you don't want to be charged $14.95.

They have just added the Harry Potter series this week (narrated by Jim Dale), so it's a bargain to get those for $0.99/book.

EDIT: Some people has confirmed the promo code only works on Audible.com (not Audible.com.au)

Enjoy!

  • Have accounts with Audible US and AU - got different error messages from both.

  • Doesn't work for me - existing account: Sorry, we dont recognise the promotional code you entered. Please try again, or contact Customer Care.

  • Strange, I tried it on my US and AU account on audible.com and it works on both :(

    • Can you share your exact steps in redeeming?

      • +4

Go to membership tab, select 1 book a month $14.95 (Click Let's Go). That brings me to Cart with a Gold Membership in it.
Then click the button "Do you have a promotional code?" and I enter HOLIDAY2015 - Apply code.

A message appears in the cart saying:
        Promo code applied (HOLIDAY2015)
Save $13 per month on this Audible Membership
Pay $0.99/month for the first 3 months and $14.95/month thereafter

Just tried it again and got it working on my US account (where I was a previous subscriber, but not a current one).

      Thanks!

      • Ahhh… Okay, so it doesn't work if you have an existing subscription, only an existing account.

        • I just unsubscribed from my AU account (which is active) and tried it again but that didn't work for me

        • @kwijybo: By AU account do you mean an account on audible.com with an australian address, or an account on audible.com.au?

My one is an account on audible.com with an australian address.

        • @paperkut:

I have one for audible.com and one for audible.com.au with different email addresses.

        • @kwijybo: I see, both my accounts are on audible.com, only one has an australian address (limited audiobook selections) and one with a US address (for getting books I can't get in Australia).

I guess the promo code won't work on audible.com.au then..

  • Existing US Account: Oops! It seems you are not eligible for this promotion. Please check the promotion details.

    • Worked fine for me with my existing US account following these instructions:

Go to membership tab, select 1 book a month $14.95 (Click Let's Go). That brings me to Cart with a Gold Membership in it.
Then click the button "Do you have a promotional code?" and I enter HOLIDAY2015 - Apply code.

      • Thanks. I've tried the above steps to no avail. I'm currently talking to Audible support who have said that "The customer should be eligible if customer was a former members from the past 12 months." Basically, because I have an existing subscription, I'm not eligible. On the plus side, I was offered a $10 coupon, although I declined it.

        • I was offered a $10 coupon, although I declined it.

Whaat? Your OzBargain membership should be terminated immediately!

        • @nanonoise: Haha, touché! :) But it was the principle of the matter.. Customer support was essentially 'Because you already give us money every month we can't let you use this awesome promo so here's $10 to shut you up'.

  • Did you have to cancel your account before using the code? Or were your subscriptions already inactive?

    • Yes I have to cancel my subscription first

    • I have no active subscriptions on my US account (has been dormant since March this year) and the code worked for me. Signed up for a "free trial", entered the promo code, then got the 3-months $0.99/month sub to work.

  • +1

For some reason even though I'm an existing (canceled) customer who has done a free trial offer (I think) it looks like i can try the 1 book free "free trial thing again". Can I do that get my book than cancel right now? Also the coupon code appears to work at the moment too.

    • +1

      That's what I did. :)

      • Nice! Thanks will try in a bit and report back.
Might see if I can get the double one to work instead actually.

        • Ok Reporting back for those reading later.
Made an account for my Mum on USA.
Used two book offer Audible.com/twit2 (use your book credits before canceling or they'll disappear).
got my books then canceled ignoring all offers while cancelling. (don't accept them as I've heard they'll temp disable cancellation if you take those to avoid a loop of offers).
Then signed up using the promo code and works.

On my account I Used twit2 as it works again.
Got my two books then cancelled.
Then signed up using the promo code. Failed the first time worked the second time though.
          Thanks OP!

  • +1

audible.com.au definitely not recognising the promo code.

(Speaking as an ex-subscriber. I do however get the 30 day free trial, which is nice)

EDIT: Found I was getting redirected to the .au site, so I forced it to go through the US site, and it worked!

  • Worked for my inactive audible.com account - brilliant!

  • good.will try

  • Oh as a reminder to people signing up today or whenever. Make use of Ozbargains Bargain Reminder (located under the report button) to remind yourself to cancel (if you so choose).
3 months from now will be the 24th of February 2016 and we won't be able to comment here at that point.

For those with existing subscriptions, I got it to work!

    • I went to Account Details and clicked Cancel Membership
    • I gave the reason that the membership fee was too expensive and clicked continue
    • I was then offered $20 towards a future book purchase if I chose to remain a subscriber which I clicked 'I Want This' and $20 was credited to my account
    • I then used my remaining 2 credits from my existing subscription
    • I then went back to Account Details -> Cancel Membership and gave the same reason
    • Continue, continue, ignoring their offers until the account was actually cancelled (Just make sure you use all your credits before cancelling!)
    • Upon refreshing the Audible homepage, the 99 cent per month for 3 months HOLIDAY2015 promo was advertised
    • I clicked on the promo banner and proceeded to resubscribe for 99 cents

    Take that, Audible!

    • +1

Nice! it was my understanding that if you took the free $20 offer they'd remove the cancel button for a period of time to avoid people endlessly taking $20's but perhaps they made it so you can only take it once and that fixes the problem then. Good to hear you got it working now the only questions is what books to get!

      • +2

Proof that it pays to be persistent. ^_^

My guess too is that they only offer you the $20 once.

I ended up using my remaining credits on Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone and.. Ready Player One.

The Martian I highly highly recommend to anyone who will listen! (Hah, I see what I did there..)

Edit: Stephen King's The Long Walk is also exceptional, albeit a tad traumatising.

        • +1

Glad to know it worked! I used the $20 a long time ago and it never popped up again ever since. Also, some memorable audiobooks I listened to recently:
Fear the Sky - if you like RPO/ The Martian you'll like this.
Art of Racing in the Rain - made me miss my dog :(
Red Rising - Just.. amazing. Must listen

        • +1

I both like and hate Ready Player One. It's very conflicting.

On the one hand it's a solid sci fi young adult novel. On the other hand it panders to it's audience, hard. It relies so heavily on references and nostalgia that it's hard not to feel like it's the equivalent of "… but wait! There's more!".

    • +1

      audible.com or audible.com.au?

      • Audible.com, not .com.au, sorry.

    • +2

Thank you very much for taking the time to detail the steps.

They worked perfectly for me :)

Naturally thanks also to the original poster as well :)

    • +1

This method definitely worked, with a free book trial in between, for the US site. Tried with my old aus account, but didn't work. However, got two free books along the way there and a $20 credit, MAKING FOR A GRAND TOTAL OF 6 FOR $3. THANKS OP!!!

    • Do you have to use the $20 before cancelling membership?

Wish they will remove DRM…a bit of a pain, which is why I went for downpour.

      • +1

No, you don't. I cancelled with the $20 still credited to my account and it stayed there.

    • Just wondering, what happens once you cancel the existing membership? What happens to the audiobooks I've downloaded on that account?

      • +1

You get to keep them in your library and can continue to listen to them. The same applies if you put your account on hold instead of cancelling.

  • Worked for me. Thanks op.

  • +1

I have the $10 year membership, I can upgrade but no coupon code slot, paid the $10 in June so don't want to cancel

    • How did you get that if I may ask?

      • It was the option ~18 months ago when I went to cancel

There is also silver membership (every other month) but you have to ask for it

    • I assume the $10/year membership is where you are still an active member but don't get any credit every month? Well it's gaming the system a bit but you could start a new membership then gift the book to an existing account. It only works for audiobooks purchased with a paid credit though, so you can't gift your first 2 free audiobooks but you can gift the ones purchased with the $0.99 membership

      • +1

Or link your Amazon accounts using the family feature, and you'll be able to see books available from both accounts. Me and my partner both have audible subscriptions and have access to each others purchases. I'm not sure on the exact steps to link the accounts, but it should be easy enough.

      • No sure if there are other ways but you will be able to gift those 2 credits if you have a paid subscription. So if you pay for the $14.95 membership, then you will be able to gift all 3 credits ($5.00/credit). Not sure if that has changed, I tried that a couple of months ago.

  • Didn't work for me because I had an expired card on file that they tried to charge. Now I changed the card but looks like I can't use the code.

  • excellent thanks op

    narrated by Jim Dale

    Rubbish. Stephen Fry or nothing.

    • I rather like Stephen Fry too, but they're only available on audible.co.uk and it's too much trouble for me to sign up to yet another account.
I do like that the Jim Dale's versions sounds more like an audio drama though, while Stephen Fry's one is a bit flatter.

    • +1

For the Harry Potter novels, I agree with you that the Stephen Fry narrated versions are superior to the Jim Dale ones.

I don't have anything against Jim Dale as a narrator, except that he has an American accent. Harry Potter is set in a British boarding school, and so Stephen Fry's English accent is much more appropriate for the material.

Try this link to redeem the promo code for existing accounts: http://www.audible.com/at/redeem/ref=mt_giftme_c3
Thanks OP, worked for my existing account.

  • I read you can exchange any audiobook you don't like… What's to stop people downloading/cancelling/choosing another one, until they have all the books they want?

    • Once you return the audio book it won't be in your library anymore

    • +1

Also, I think they limit the online exchange to something like twice/year, after that you can still exchange what you want but you'll have to call them.

      • Yep, and the files have DRM so you can't simply download it and leave them on your hard drive indefinitely. They'd expire and need reauthentication at some point.

        • You can leave it in your portable audio player right? Will that still require auth?

        • @lostn: I'm not sure how it works specifically, but I'd assume eventually it'd need to be authenticated. ITunes at least had you enter audible account details the first time you do a sync to a supported device as part of the DRM process. I'd assume any supported player would have a clock that eventually requires the files to be reauthenticated.

  • Signed up for the 1 month trial, bought 2 books with the credits. Then cancelled (no $20 credit offer sadly). Then signed up using the code for the $1/month offer for 3 months. Set a reminder a few days earlier on my phone to cancel before it charges full price.

Thank you OP. I got a history book I had been meaning to read and a mystery book.

  • Unable to sign into the Audibe app on my samsung galaxy S5

I started a new audible.com account and purchased 2 free books, but it wont accept my account details on the android app, yet I can sign in using my .au account … weird.

    • When you login, you have to change the marketplace to audible.com (it will be audible.com.au as default)

      • D'Oh … should have thought of that :P

  • can you keep the books after cancelling, or are they only available as part of an active subscription?

    • you can keep them and listen to them after canceling. Just make sure you've used all your credits before cancelling as those will disappear.

  • When you try to cancel I think they give you an extra month or something to tempt you to stay. Has anyone ever taken it? And if you cancel again after taking their freebie, will they give you more offers?

    • There's a few different cancellation offers that can come up from what I've read, one being a $20 coupon, one being a $9.95 yearly membership where you get to keep your existing credits but don't accrue a new one each month, and, elusively (though it didn't happen for me) 3 months at half price.

When I went to cancel, I took the $20 coupon offer. Maybe 5 minutes later when I went to cancel again, they offered the $9.95 yearly membership.

      • What can you do with a membership without credits? Just buy books undiscounted?

        • Members get a 30% discount on books if paying by cash monies. There's also periodic member only sales and the like.

        • @Leviiathan: Cash monies? So err… they won't take my credit card?

        • @lostn: You know what I mean.. Real money as opposed to credits. :)

  • Awesome! Thank you, thank you, thank you. (for 3 books)

  • Is this offer still working? It is saying expired for me.

    • expired for me 2 :(

  • spoke to them using online chat. the code is expired on 30/11/15
