I was putting together my new PC and needed an OS without the hassle of a DVD (my NUC doesn't have a dvd drive) and found this store.

This is cheaper than anything I've managed to find in Australia, and delivery of the license key is within 24 hours. You can download the actual software from the windows and just enter in the key and you're good to go!

      +1 for reddit, bought 2x Windows 8.1 Pro keys @ $20 each the other day from the seller GlassCanStudios. Both activated without issues, and have Been upgraded to Windows 10.

      While I can vouch for that seller, I would still recommend doing your research, and paying with PayPal or some form of refundable credit incase things go sour.

          Actually I'll contact SaRg3nT1 directly and determine once and for all whether the reddit keys are MSDN or not.
          I'll even post up a screenie of the results (determined by Microsoft VAMT, which checks what type of key, what product and how many activations remain).

          Not a lot of people know how to use VAMT, and people keep spouting Reddit keys are from MSDN.
          Fairly sure the MSDN keys are sold on eBay not on reddit, for those who are still perpetuating that myth.

          Not sure about the Windows keys on Reddit, but for the Office 2016, they're microsoftHUP keys. They are clearly different to MSDN (despite people thinking otherwise), as MSDN show AS MSDN on Microsoft VAMT, while HUP keys will show as a retail key (…for a volume license only edition of office).

          Have not heard of HUP keys being banned, because they only work for 1 activation per key now (for 2016 anyway).
          Anyway, wouldn't go through reddit microsoftsoftwareswap, $40 for an office key is expensive, when you can get the same thing with an eligible email for HUP for $9USD (can be cheaper too depending on selected region :D), or free Office 365 for most uni emails

      Two months later Windows activation is saying the key is blocked and that I need to buy another key. Not sure you can trust those sellers on reddit. Their prices are too good to be true, long term anyway. Also, the people selling the keys are reddit moderators with the ability to remove negative posts. Just saying.

      So what if it activated? So what if its been ok for 6 months? So what if you upgraded to Win 10? It proves NOTHING. Tomorrow it could stop. Because it is a free MSDN key. That's a fact, otherwise it wouldn't be $20.

      I understand that you might buy 5 of them over the life of your pc and still save money. But an illegal free key is not the same as a proper retail, according to ozbargain rules you shouldn't even compare them.

        1) How are you so sure it's an illegal key. Serious question, do you just go off what other people have said, or have you actually bought a reddit key before and got burnt? Have you checked the key with Microsoft VAMT? It'll show as MSDN/Retail/MAK Volume License or "This key has been reported to be blocked by the activation server".

        2) Source on OzBargain rules? Are you sure it's not Whingepool's rules?

          1c) IIRC it's been posted here before that a number of mods are key sellers and like to delete complaints about dodgy keys.

          1c) Sure, and if you also look through the threads, some aren't actually legit complaints. Have you read through the reddit threads? The main moderator of that thread usually replaces blacklisted keys.

          If you have bought a reddit key, I highly advise you to check it with Microsoft VAMT to verify what type of key it is. If it's retail, then activate as soon as you can, because most cannot be repeatedly activated.

          2) I know OzB mods will act if there is sufficient proof of illegal activity (i.e. deal that involves blatant piracy)

          Why would I spend money on something I don't need yet? That's why I messaged SaRg3nT1 for his used up key, to which he has blacked out, showing its a RETAIL key. Is that proof enough for you the current Reddit keys are not MSDN? Perhaps some of the sellers were dodgy, just like how drug dealers will put crushed glass to increase their volume, perhaps some of the dodgy sellers were initially selling retail keys, then tried to increase their profit by selling MSDN keys, with a gamble that those keys would not be blocked, who knows?

          Retail and Volume Licensing Versions of Products
          MSDN subscriptions offers a selection of retail and Volume Licensing versions of Microsoft products. Certain products are available from MSDN only in their retail version or only in their Volume Licensing version; some are available in both versions. Generally, products requiring activation, such as Windows, Windows Server, and Office client products, are only offered in their retail version through MSDN.

          This means VAMT can't be used to differentiate, because it will show it as Retail key.

          Interesting comment on reddit I have to quote:

          Ask yourself how they could possibly have access to legitimate keys. It's not exactly a strenuous intellectual exercise. Either there's a plausible explanation for how they can get you keys that work for lower than the regular price and some compelling reason for why they're hawking them on a subreddit instead of butchering the competition in some kind of conventional retail setup, or there isn't and it's far more likely a place for fraud, or perhaps even an outright scam.
          Which of those sounds more likely?

          Here you go, VAMT can definitely detect if its an MSDN Retail key, the non-MSDN retail key is of my own that I bought through microsoftHUP

I don't think they're illegal keys because Office 2016 Pro Plus Retail keys CANNOT be obtained through any other means but MicrosoftHUP, and there IS a legitimate portal where you can mass purchase these keys from Microsoft provided you have the right credentials.
          Office Pro Plus 2016 "Retail" Keys do not exist from being bought at a store for the sole reason of, the Office "pro plus" edition itself is a Volume Licensing only product. The equivalent for a retail product that even comes close is Microsoft University which is a subscription. Since the keys they sell are not MSDNR_Retail, one can deduct they're buying their office keys from one guy with access to the MicrosoftHUP mass purchase portal.
          Making an educated guess, if the MicrosoftHUP portal is their source of keys, then through another Volume Licensing agreement, the same guy could definitely be able to do the same for Windows keys.
          Or I could be wrong about the Windows keys, but with SaRg3nT1's key we have proof at least it's a "Retail" type key.
          P.s. Reddit MSS are making a KILLING for Office, since it costs them $9USD (this isn't even the bulk price, this is for one single license, you CAN get discounts for bulk purchase)

          3) Is this legal? Pretty much it's part of the underground economy. Are OzBargainers bragging? They're simply letting others know there's alternatives that worked for them.
          It's a bit like posting in mushtato's Xiao mi deals about banggood (and their month long wait for shipping)

          1. No doubt VAMT works as it should identifying keys. (Although I would be more convinced if I see example of msdn (retail) windows vs retail windows side by side not just office).

          2. They key may work, and verified by VAMT. The doubt is where these are coming from. I dont think it is legal if it is stolen or bought via mshup channel or similar. Those are not meant to be transferrable (break the EULA some may say)

      The web site doesn't even have an address listed under the Contact US page and the only phone number listed is that of a mobile phone. You make your mind up what you think about that.

      You wouldn't think a legit seller would list a mobile phone as the sales team contact phone number.

      Personally in my opinion i think it seems dodgy as. But it's up to you what you think of it.

    Our clubs laptop had $2 Windows 7 Ultimate loaded on it by someone who thought they were sticking it to the man, but instead have left us the legacy of pirated Windows. If we downloaded this offer to 8.1, could we load it without loosing all our programs and data on the laptop? TIA

      yes, you should be able to do an upgrade where it will install over your existing O/S and take note of your accounts / programs etc. But like all major upgrades, do a backup (preferably with a full disk clone program) first.

      You should be able to keep most of it.

      The Windows 8 Upgrade Assistant can tell you what programs will be kept and what will need to be removed. You can download and run that prior to upgrading to Windows 8.1, all you need to do is select the option to "Keep personal files and apps" when prompted. All user data in your user profile/s (Documents/Pictures/Music/Videos, etc) will be kept intact, but some programs may not survive an in-place upgrade.

      I'd still recommend a clean OS reinstall anyway though, as in-place upgrades are quite sub-optimal and because you have a pirated version that may fail a Windows integrity check and have some broken Windows components. Just copy all of your data off the laptop onto an external hard drive and make sure you've got all the necessary installers and product keys for the software on it; not that hard.

        Identical products are price matched against online stores but as with any other kind of store, the item must be currently in stock. When price matching online stores we also take into account the added cost of delivery. If the identical product can be purchased and delivered via an online store for a total price lower than the one we are offering, we will beat that total price by 5%.

        Don't see any reason why they wouldn't price match, as I said they have for me before.
