  • Are you then contracted? Or can you leave at any time?

    • 12 months by the look of it.
Add $100 for installation and $75/$200 iQ2/iQ3 installation costs

So… basically $25 back and free installation?

        • You still have to pay at least a year's worth of service.

        • @ronnknee: Of course ;)

@massafiri: So yea, not a "deal" in jv's eyes. Pretty sure he wanted the gift card and then cancel immediately ;)

We are starting to smell the desperation from Foxtel. I wonder what their churn rate is currently since Netflix hit our shores.

    • Fetch TV has been slowly corroding their new business too, plus Optus took the EPL recently.
At this point, Foxtel's main value pitch is that they have an exclusive deal for Game of Thrones and some AFL/NRL games.

    • I was even thinking of neg this deal…
After calling in to cancel and getting few offers which I have declined, few days after receiving the SMS to return the equipment I got a call - Platinum plan (but without Sport - which I do not follow anyway) for $25 p/m. They got me as there are some channels for the missus which are not on Netflix. That is a better deal. Actually in a true OzBargain spirit - I was never on a "normal" pricing on Foxtel, got deals from the beggining and through till now :-)
      This was directly with Foxtel.

      • unfortunately my wife insists we keep Foxhell, but I hate paying for all the ads. We are ending contract next week and will be negotiating another deal, as I think it is rude to double my monthly costs without warning when I come off the current pricing.

Yeah, one of the many downsides. You pay and you still have to watch the Ads. Well, Almost never watching live - always record and watch later.
My advice - see what price they will come up with. If you don't like it just say you want to leave. You need to do this BEFORE your contract expires (3-4 weeks). If you still don't like what they offer just sit tight. You may never receive the call, but you can call them back before you send the box back and tell them you take up their last offer :-)

No $200on the starter package ($25). The cheapest package is $45 on a 12month contract.

  • $45 a month on a 12 month contract? …or $10 a month for netflix?

  • +2

I got a brochure in the mail today, $25 a month no contract and no installation fee. It's currently in the bin….

  • Stopped reading at "foxtel"

  • All i really get out of foxtel is AFL and EPL.. and now I can get both online… the rest of there stuff are no better than free to air and so many ads!

  • Maybe after Murdoch is in the ground.
