  • Still 5GB for the starter SIM?

  • +6

FYI - The wifi modem comes with 2gb data that lasts for 14 days.

    • +4

I'm fine with 2gb but 14 days is too short.

      • +2

Optus have reduced it's 5 gigs starter to 2 gigs and force you to finish it within 2 weeks.

        • Yea I still have a healthy supply of those. The crackdown is pretty annoying.

        • @hilariouspowerr: I have a few of the old ones purchased mid year. When I activated one recently, by default it only gave me 2GB 14 day expiry. Had to 'chat' with Optus to get them to honour the original 5GB 30 Day expiry.

        • @MTWallett:
Oh lorde, are you serious? Kinda rude of them. I'm so annoyed now. I'll clutch my stockpile and cry in denial.

      • You're really paying for the modem, not the data.
I bought one a few weeks ago for $25, which was half price everywhere else.
        They work well.

Then you should (hopefully) be able to buy a new sim, get a better plan, dump this sim, and start again. It's all about the modem

    • Anybody has idea of validity, till when ?

  • Is the ttv a good deal?

    • +2

      For the price, yes
We have the 48" Pendo, which I got from Target for $360 earlier this year.

  • +1

If you go to Big W today (Sunday) you can get those Optus modems for $7, it's their weekend sale. The discount will apply when the cashier totals the transaction one step before initiating payment. This price was at Katoomba (NSW) but should apply in all other stores.

  • How does the smart watch Compare to others?

    • +1

Not an Android Wear watch so you won't be able to get any apps for it. You'd be better off getting one of the first generation LG G Watches for <$100 online somewhere.

    • +1

That's not a smartwatch, it's a Pendos Thingos. Like all Pendos thingos, it just exist.

      • One day, Pendo will be the number one electronics maker and we will all soon be ditching Apple and Samsung products for Pendo. We will be driving Pendo electric cars, riding Pendo hoverboards, talking with Pendo smart phones and having sex with Pendo branded glow in the dark condoms.

It'll happen soon. Mark my words.

        • actually someone said that about Samsung in 1987 and now Samsung have surpassed Sony as a reliable and upmarket product

Now they just say Huawei will be the next thing.

Same will be said about Pendos when we conquer Mars as a colony.

Pendos originally started as "Pendants" just selling take off rocks and gems then as time passed they diversified into knock knacks and changed its name to Pendos from Pendant.

  • All $84 Seagate 500GB wireless drive out of stock :(

  • How does the Pendo 55" TV compare with Kogan's offering? Keen to grab one cheap.

    https://www.kogan.com/au/buy/kogan-55-led-tv-full-hd-ta/

    • +4

Specifications aside, Kogan will screw you over if you need after sales service.

      Officeworks won't.

      • +1

        Actually, read the reviews:

If you want a TV to last longer than 5 months then Pendo is a brand to avoid.
        Warranty claim -
Pendo may ask you to send to an IT company in Melbourne then you get a phone call that they cannot fix the TV. No, they will not send it back to you if you had the idea of getting someone local to fix it.
        Replacement -
No, Pendo cannot replace these TV's as they have none in stock to replace with.

        • +2

I did mention 'specifications (such as brands) aside' as I was comparing retailers only but anyways, I'm fairly sure the ACL states that warranty claims may be directed to the place of purchase in the first instance.

Dealing with the manufacturer directly is not something that I'd recommend, as the premium we pay for buying from Australian vendors in effect pays for them to do that work for us.

Further, your place of purchase legally cannot refuse your warranty claim. MSY tried that approach and paid a sizable few thousand dollars as a penalty.

        • @zan5hin: then you go buy from Kogan and let us know about your pleasant experience

        • @KaptnKaos:

Agree, pay the bit extra so you get a tv you actually want, have a local place handle the warranty for you if it goes wrong. Saves you the hassle and money on petrol.

  • Anyone know if the wifi modems are locked. Wouldnt mind one to take overseas.

    • +1

Bought a few from Officeworks before when they included 5GB 30 day expiry. They were unlocked.

      • Can we add any other sim card? Or how does it work?

        Thanks in advance

    • +1

I also recall mine being unlocked. Just check the 3G bands used by the country you're visiting and the carrier. This one supports 900/2100 MHz 3G.

  • Telstra 4G Wifi is $24.50 too, thought it's worth adding.

    • and that price is from Telstra; so all retailers will have that price

      • Where did you get that information from?
It's $49 at Dick Smith, and on special at Coles this week for $29 (discounted from $49)

AFAIK it's only $24.50 in Harvey Norman and Officeworks.

        • and BigW has half price as well. Maybe not all retailers but still most of them covered.

  • Can I remove the 2GB sim from inside the Huawei modem and insert my Amaysim 5GB sim card (from the $25 ebay deal) and have it work immediately?

When you activate the thing for the first time, are you activating the sim card, or the modem itself?

    • +1

Yes you can. When you activate, you're activating the SIM card. So you can save the card for later. For the modem I bought, it had an expiry of 1 Dec 2016, so I have almost an entire year before I have to activate the 2GB sim card.

      • Is it micro sim or nano?

        • Standard sized sim

  • I find the power / time usage on this is so short compare to the Vodafone one, it's annoying you have to keep it on charge all the time.
