Wow, Note 5 price is coming down quick! At 32GB price couple of weeks ago, now you can get 64GB! Lets hope after xmas sale, this is going to be even cheaper!

    • +3

I guess newer phones does not add much offerings to justify paying $800 for one when you have one that is from one or 2 years ago that does majority of what was required. Maybe better camera, faster processor and better screen resolution but does it worth $800 to dump the old phone and get a new one? I am interested in the Note 5 but not $800 interested.

      • +1

I m interested too but only if is below $600 … I will keep dreaming for now …

        • +2

I picked up the note 5 during an ebay 20% sale a couple of months ago for $690 after cashrewards. Granted it wasn't aus stock but it's got all the bands and it works fine, been using it for a couple of months. I know it's not quite south of the price you're wanting but it's not unrealistic to get sub $600 soon.

For anyone wondering it was the 32GB version.

          @itsak:

how do you find the battery life?

        • +2

@livo81: I took my phone off charge at 7am this morning and its currently on sitting on 59% at 4:40pm(~12Hours off charge). I have the dual sim variant with my work sim and personal sim so i do use the phone quite a bit during the day for voice calls. I also have bluetooth and wireless on all the time. Hope that gives you a real world indication of battery life.

        • +1

          @itsak: 12Hourse? From 7am to 4:40 is 9.4 Hours :)

        • @nadan: You're right, i looked at my phone and thought i saw 11 something and didn't even bother to pay attention to the times i wrote down haha. Looking at my phones battery usage now it's stating
11h 18m, no idea what i was reading before, so let's just got with that.

        • @itsak: whats the fast charging like is it hell quick?

        • @TRENT86: I've noticed it charging much quicker, but to be honest I usually just whack it on charge before bed and grab it in morning so don't really pay much attention to it.

        • +1

@livo81: So after thinking I've been looking at "estimated usage time" I've actually been looking at "estimated usage time remaining" stupid…makes sense why the usage didn't add up earlier. For anyone still interested, it's currently sitting on 7hours 39mins estimated usage time remaining. I took phone off charge at ~7am and it's now 8:45pm. Medium to high call usage, Spotify and browsing.

      • Exactly this.

I have the Note 3 which seemed like a decent jump over the Note 2, but I really haven't seen a reason to upgrade to the Note 4 or 5 yet despite saving for one each year.

I'm running the Note 5 ROM anyway, with the added bonus of micro SD and spare battery support.

        • Same with me, have the Note 3 and thinking to upgrade to Note 5 but no micro SD and removable battery is a major discouragement. I think my Note 3 may outlast Note 5 when those batteries in Note 5 dies.

        • @stargalaxy: any idea where to get genuine Samsung replacement battery at economic cost? Have been fed up by the eBay so called genuine products.

        • I also bought from ebay but suspect they are not genuine either, but it works quite well. If you wants to be 100% sure it is genuine, then have to buy from Samsung direct, maybe wait for one of the time when they have 15% off promotion like during clickfrenzy.

      • -3

      • It does too, god what a mess lol

      • Yep tried this and works to Melb.

it was not on ebay when I checked, so I placed order from binglee website with only 10% off.

will it be ok if return the binglee order and order it from ebay?

anyone has experience returning binglee order?

      • you should just able to call them and cancel order and get a refund, but their site should have info

  • Thanks OP. Just brought one for my wife:)

    • Lucky her :) Someone will get some extra action soon lol

      • LOL. I gave her my S3 when I upgrade mine to S6. So about time I giver her some thing decent:)

        • +1

And as suggested, she will give you something decent in return :)

  • Any way what a reasonable case and and screen protector (nothing expensive though) to use for the Note 5? Link be nice please

    • I got spigen screen protector and clear spigen ultra slim case, I didn't like the case as it wasn't clear enough for me. I then got a ringke clear ultra slim case, it was more clear but collected dust under the cover. I decided in the end to just take everything off an use it stock, it feels and looks nicer. Of course you don't have protection but willing to take that risk.

  • Damn, and when I thought just above $800 was a bargain, THIS comes out ;(

  • Great price on the samsung galaxy note 5 64gb, just snagged one with delivered for 769.15

  • This Note 5 is so cheap, AND it's 64GB to boot!
I really like my Note 4 because of the replaceable battery, and SD card, but man, this is just too tempting, AND 64GB.
To make matters worse, I can get this on TRS, thus making it even cheaper.

    Decisions!

    • I feel note 3 still has sufficient grunts. What make you want to upgrade from now 4?

  • thanks op, got one, but it says pick up on 24th, I go overseas on 30th, hope to have it by than, so can claim gst, that and cashrewards will make it like $665, sweeeeet :)

  • how come the 64gb is only available in gold -_-

  • No longer available for delivery, any luck for others?

    • looks like they have removed it so others will have to pay the $809 and buy from the normal bing lee site using EBAY10 Code link is in post

Edit looks like delivery is back

  • Was late by few seconds and lost the deal. 😔

Edit- tried again and worked ☺
    But missed cash rewards 😐

  • Bought one delivered for $769.15 - thanks OP!
Have been looking for Note 4 (replaceable battery!) for a few weeks now as present to the missus - but 64GB at this price decided to just jump on it.

NB heard my wallet crying why OzB why …

    • For those going for $769.15 delivered - does your Paypal transaction history still show $904.00 by any chance?
Not sure what to expect here, but it says this in the transaction detail:

      Original Transaction
      Date Type Status Details Amount
16 Dec 2015 Payment To Bing Lee Electrics Pty Limited Completed … -$904.00 AUD

      Related Transactions
      Date Type Status Details Amount
16 Dec 2015 Charge from Credit Card Completed Details $769.15 AUD
16 Dec 2015 Voucher Completed Details $134.85 AUD

      • Yeah I'm seeing $904 in paypal but $769.15 on invoice, guess I'll dispute if over charged lol

Note: my credit card has only been charged 769.15 however, I assume paypal is eating the 134?

    • Don't understand why people put so much emphasis on the battery and sd card. I got a 32 gig for $675 and will probably never need a bigger memory albeit taking lots of pictures.

      • Battery for me is really about longevity say 3 to 4 yrs down the road when it can no longer holds the charge. I want to have the option to just buy the battery and not buy a comoletely new mobile phone.

E.g. i had my iphone 3gs for at least 5-6 yrs before deciding i cant deal with a phone that needs recharging every 3-4 hours. Yes I'm unreasonably stingy sometimes :)

  • I have a note 3 as well with a spare battery. Don't really see the need to upgrade. Yes slightly better camera and screen resolution, if anyone can notice.

    • note3 cam was decent 2-3 yrs ago but with current crop of phones its terrible…

have note 4 and its ALOT better esp in low light
      videos are better

  • Out of stock.

    • thank god, my ozbargain wallet was already going in the red!

  • -4

Out of stock! Yeah right order cancelled and get a refund.

  • Yup bought it last night, hopefully no issues with stock. Really wanted the IR blaster… can live with 64GB and no battery!

  • When are they shipping?

  • +1

Received call from Guildford store, in stock picking up tonight.

    • ley us know how it is :)

      • Yup picked up phone all good, store manager mentioned they were suppose to change the online price to 1k. Ebay is paying the coupon difference as well.

        • too bad for them if they can't get their online systems right :)

  • Picked up from Guilford too, no probes, all good :-)
