You might want to put the word 'rental' into the title.

I thought you meant to purchase and got all excited that I could finally buy the Star Wars movies digitally (I've gotten rid of my disc based collection).

    • Thanks for the catch - done

curious, if you're trying to build up a digital collection then how do you decide what service/DRM to buy your movies from? for instance even if you were to buy the Star Wars movies now on Google Play then tomorrow there's a sale on iTunes so you buy the Lord of the Rings trilogy there, doesn't it annoy you to have your library fragmented over different services? that's my main issue with building a digital movie library since it's near impossible to buy DRM-free movies. it's strange how services like Plex can only really work with pirated content then

I mostly use Ultraviolet. I buy codes that people sell on Ebay and other places for $2-5 a movie. With UV, I can play my movies over Chromecast via Flixter and JB Hifi's service. The good thing with UV is that when one company goes bust, you don't lose your collection. I used to use Ezyflix (which was great) but they went bust so I switched to using Flixter with no loss of movies.

With Disney films (as they don't use UV) I buy the US codes for Disney Anywhere which is linked to my US iTunes and AU Google Play account. It's a shame they don't do Disney Anywhere for Australia so I could then have my Disney movies liked to my UV account.

        • Are you buying US or AU UV codes?

I'm waiting for UHD UV codes before I invest.

        • @psdillon: Mostly AU, but I do maintain a US one as well but it's rarely used.. I don't care about UHD. All it means is you can closer to the TV. HD is good enough.

  • Great deal on rentals, thanks OP!

    • So is this a one time only code (per play account)? Or as many times as you can handle until 4th Jan? Either way, thanks OP

      • When I applied the coupon, I think it mentioned something about 1 redemption per account.

        • Thanks. OP's wording pretty much implied that but I wasn't sure.

Santa better bring me a Chromecast then.

  • Where can I rent the all new Star Wars from?

      • If you wait for the Bluray release people will sell the digital code. If you get a US code you can use a single code to attach to your UV, iTunes and Google accounts through Disney Anywhere.

      • When I saw the new Star Wars on the play store I was pretty impressed until I realised that it was a pre-order. I can't find in the description when the pre-order is for. Is this just a pre-order for whenever the movie gets released on streaming at some point in the future or is there a specific date?

  • OP - how are you associated with Google?

  • Thanks OP.

  • Great timing with my LG TV getting the Google Movies/TV app. Thanks OP!

  • Thanks Op, just got Amy. Too bad exetel at this time is so crap. Anyone know if there is a way to force higher quality with the web app like you can with netlix?

  • This is fantastic. New Maze Runner for $1.75 full HD rental. Lucky we didn't spend $50 watching it in the cinema :D
    Thanks OP

  • My first google movie at a steal! Despite the price it wasn't the best experience without a Chromecast. Playback through browser on laptop to TV via hdmi was stuttery on 30mbit internet. Can't download on non-Android device. :-(

    Time to get a Chromecast.

  • Thanks, just hired oddball for $1.50!

Code is single use only, but still works. Just used now and paid $1.50 to rent Man from U.N.C.L.E. I think it's the last day to use the code.
