  • Is this the duo boot windows-android version or just windows? Didn't see android mentioned so I assume it's only windows?

    • Just Windows. It's the upgraded version of the Dual Boot.

      • +1

It's the upgraded version of the Dual Boot.

        lol…

      • Android ain't that bad.

        • +2

When I said it's the upgraded version, I meant the hardware has been upgraded. Newer CPU, GPU, USB Type C etc. I'm a big fan of Android anyway,

  • I have the dual boot version.. Good tablet for the price. Wish the battery lasted longer, only get about 3 1/2 hours in android or windows. Other than that no complaints

  • Hey clear… any equivalent intel x5 mini pc on sale?

    • Only on the Tronsmart Ara X5 in the existing deal.

  • +2

ChuWi use KMS servers advertising keys to activate windows. If they decide to turn the servers off the devices cease to be activated, reason I returned mine, was unable to activate it for a few weeks until the server worked again. Buyer beware

  • quite attractive…but wouldn't 2GB be too limited for Win10? I thought win10 itself takes up to 2GB of ram already?

    • Not at all. Windows 8.1 was designed to run off 1GB of RAM and Windows 10 will run fine on it too. Just don't open too many applications and it won't hit the limit.

  • Anyone know of any 8inch-ish windows/winmo 10 (upgrade form winmo 8 maybe) with 4G/LTE and voice capabilities so i can use as a phablet?

    • Mine runs perfectly for movies and internet!

    • I mean as a phone.

  • Good price! Bought the older version for just one month ago

  • Xbox game streaming
    Game is Nowhere

    …What?

  • What resolution can this handle in HDMi out to a monitor? Or is this stuck to native resolution

    • 1280x800, but some screens can stretch it up to 1080 with our without a black border.

  • A bit too much blarney for me, e.g: "Windows 10 - the legitimate operating system". Indeed it is - however there appears to be care taken not to suggest that this is a "legitimate" copy [note hotzone's post above]. "Type C makes data transmission more quickly" - No mistake or 'Chinglish' here, but complete honesty. It does - you don't have to fiddle making sure it is the right side up. Any illusions you may develop that this means this is a USB3 device are totally your own however.
Provided you realise this, it looks like a nice unit - but you may need to bring your own Win 10 licence key to the party. It does say "legitimate" Win 10 system, but I'd much rather see the word "licensed" - in the past, errors seem to have crept into such translations…

  • Any news on the new Hi8 Pro?

      • Cheaper at BG

        • +1

          And I'll price match.

      • Is the screen glass?

        • The Hi8 did so this one should too. I'll find out closer to release.

        • @Clear:

Thanks I would like to order one when you find out. Also what issue is holding up the release? There was mention about a hardware issue?

        • @jlogic: Got a link about the hardware issue? I haven't heard anything.

        • @Clear:

I saw it on the BG site and also read about the problems with the 10 inch version as well. They both share similar hardware.

        • @jlogic: They don't specify what those issues are unfortunately. I did hear from Chuwi that there was a part shortage causing a delay in production.

        • @Clear: Thanks for that. So any idea when it will be released? Also any more promotion on the price at all? :D Am interested.

        • @jlogic: 25th of January. There will be a promotion for it on release sometime.

  • I had the older processor version … piece of rubbish …. it had a plastic screen and so you needed buy screen protectors ….. plastic screen WTF for a touch devices……

so check if the screen is glass or plastic.

The windows was licensed windows 10 ….. checked and it was activated and was getting updates …… sold it on eBay for what I paid due to lack of enthusiasm to sources screen savers………

I got a teclast …… glass screen and higher res (retina) but did cost $30 more.

don't get 16GB dual boots …… the larger windows updates (cumulative) don't fit into the remaining memory due to the space taken up by android.

    • On the plus side, with a screen protector, the screen is not going to crack and the unit is a lot more drop-proof. Given a cheap $2-$10 case, they make good 'school' units.

    • Got three HI8's for the kids after they broke two glass screens on galaxy tabs. No problems after 4 months. Plastic is good for young kids.

    • The Teclast even though it has a glass screen its not Gorilla glass. Still scratch pretty easy. From memory it was just stock standard soda lime glass.

For me glass just feels smoother and transmits light far better.

Do agree about it not shattering if it were plastic. Kids -_- always dropping things.

  • Looks alright, but In the market for a 10 inch device. Hopefully one with a glass panel and 1080p display.

    • Keep an eye out. Teclast have started to release their next gens.

What's the difference between these two? The price ends up being about the same. All I can see is that the Hi8 has a different processor and better screen resolution. It's just that a dual OS tablet would be cool. I was thinking of getting the Lenovo Tab 2 A7 20 which I bought for someone and is a pretty decent tablet at the price point but one of these tablets might change my mind. Thing is that would be $83 with the 15% off on ebay. Is the $40 worth it? Does anyone have a Chuwi?
