Online Shopping - Meat Prices at Coles and Woolworths

Hi! I was just wanting to hear some experiences of buying meat online with Coles from my fellow ozbargainers…

I often buy online at Woolies, using their regular discount coupons. Mostly I stock up on meat, and I have found that I always get more than I have paid for.. sometimes a lot more. Today's order had three lamb shoulder roasts each more than 2.5kg, when I had paid for 1.6kg.

The thing is, I dont ever buy meat online at Coles, because they say the weight will be plus or minus about 25%, and I don't want to risk getting 25% less! (Woolworths sell meat at a minimum weight)

So I am wondering… what are people's experiences of buying meat online at Coles?

  • Our experience with coles and woolies you ask ..

We don't buy any meat or veg there anymore esp delivery. The product they sell is substandard. The vege and fruit is preserved far too long and spoil with in a day.

Obviously for lack of being disappointed and wasting money , we buy fresh from our butcher ( some have delivery if you are local and set up a regular order)
and only buy from the grocer now.

    • Thanks for the reply.

I know what you mean about vegies, I dont buy from Coles and Woolies either.

But when it comes to meat, it ends up being so much cheaper than at the local butcher I cant resist.

      • Our choice for the butcher is for the freshness and quality.

Just like the veges you dont know how long coles / woolies have stored any product for, not to mention what preservatives added.

Some say they inject water to increase the weight of products
