    JD??

    • +2

China's second biggest B2B model, after Alibaba. Taobao is the largest B2C. Google these names and you will know what they are :)

    • I'd never heard of it but it seems pretty legitimate and is not just a startup website like some others. See the details below:

      Website: en.jd.com
Title: jd Online Shopping Mall: Electronics, Apparel, Jewelry, Books & more | Worldwide Shipping
Description: Discover over 300,000 products and find the latest promotional offers! FREE SHIPPING acros
      Type: shopping,electronics,Jewellery

Domain Age: 23 Years, 88 Days
      Website Speed: Slow
      Website Value: $20,767,241.38

JD is legit…big name in china. Better name than banggood or gearbest…

    • +1

      https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/JD.com

super brand in china, has a revenue of US$20b last year

      pretty much another Alibaba

  • Amazing specs for the price like its a generic build but for the money its great! your usually paying $200+

  • The third gen for both Xiaomi and meizu budget notes are out, these be flocked off … Naturally,
Not bad a device, on par with k3 note, but even that is going to be replaced soon…
In short, can't fault the device, more than enough to run android N. Just there will always be a better device down the track

    • What are the requirements for android n?

      • Expect marginally higher requirement such as minimum must be 1gb ram, essentially every chipset made in 2014 should fit minimum requirement, any handset with 2g ram can last a long time, only barrier is manufactured by device makers, we saw 6.0 run on nexus 4 already via third party, shows how powerful that thing was

  • Does JD stock comes with lots of malware?

    • Not sure but you could remove it by flashing a new rom, rooting, etc

    • +1

The one I got had a lot. Totally unusable until flashed a new rom which was downloaded from the official website. And needed to install Google Playstore.

    • +1

Yes, the junk JD seller loads on, is choc full of crapware.

Also keep in-mind that it will take between 4-6 weeks to receive your order.

Excellent value for money though, once you load the generic International firmware on it.

They seem to update the firmware quite often. The lastest iteration was released on Christmas day.

  • Does it include Google Playstore?
Also what 4G bands does it cover?

    • yeah .. poor 4G band coverage is what is stopping me from buying one of these chinese phones.

  • Beware jd phones come with malware my brother in laws xiaomi was a bit of a worry

    • I bought a Xiaomi from JD that had zero malware/bloatware. Each JD seller is different I suppose. Always best to flash official ROM anyway

  • Dual 4G? Any one confirm this?

    • ec bought this second hand only for the dual 4G.

    • You could probably buy a second hand version only for the dual 4G.

  • +1

i bought this second hand only for the dual 4G.

EC bought this second hand only for the dual 4G.

  • Which one better, this or Lenovo K3 note?

    • Of course K3 Note is much better compare to this one:

      • Lenovo is an established brand compare to this one
      • Specs are comparable but you can trust quality with K3
      • Firmware upgrades will be frequent with K3
      • However, this price is awesome for this phone

Try this website and this phone from ulefone (be touch 3):

      http://www.everbuying.net/product1113627.html

      • Can anyone tell me about the Ulefone Be Touch 3 and the reliability of Everbuying site as per the above link.Seems to be a good price?

    • Stay right away from K3 Note, never getting a Lenovo again. I'm so totally burnt. It has a fundamental design flaw with the digitizer (loses touch sensitively on bottom right of screen - very commonly reported problem) as it damages so easily with the slightest of natural flexes and they are quite expensive to replace. I bought 4 of them and all have this issue. One was faulty out of the box. Chasing up seller from JD is an absolute pain on the rear and not worth pursuing unless you have patience, time and money to spend on shipping them back.
Go Xiaomi Note 2 or 3.

  • So good phone but needs a lot of work to reinstall the rom?? don't these come rooted from factory?

    • Im still using a HTC M7 with a perfect camera (which is rare apparently) don't know if its really worth upgrading.

      • +1

Most HTC M7 camera's start out OK, but then seem to fail over time with the Purple haze issue.

My Wife's Telstra phone failed 3 times whist within its 2 year warranty period, so after the 3rd failure and at my insistence they upgraded her to a M8.

    • Easy to root the unit, but you will need to create / log in to Meizu account to see option on the phone.

Flashing the International firmware is not a straight forward process, and once flashed you will not receive OTA updates, so future updates will need to be manually downloaded and installed.

Not a very complicated process, but you should have some prior experience flashing roms, before trying it.

The best advice I can give you though is to install the Nova launcher as soon as you can, so you can better customize the interface.

  • +2

I have an m2 note. The OS is a bit of a pain but OK once you install nova launcher. You need to reset the phone and flash the firmware because there is a alot of junk on there when you get it. Also first firmware update on mine worked ota but had to reset the phone after so don't waste your time setting up. Mine has a bit of edge bleed at the bottom of the screen and unfortunately a small bright spot in the screen. It's still a great phone at this price. Also the SMS app is a bit of a hassle because it doesn't merge smses from contacts when you send them to your phone book starting with 0 and they return on +61 it can't work that out. You can use Google passenger if you don't have your second sim in. I got mine through jd. China phones are still a bit of a risk of hate to have to try and return one. Hence I live with my bright spot.

    • If you are after information on the phone and dodgy apps ts here in a previous post https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/210042

I was going to complain about the phone being laggy and not screen not good in sunlight. But no just checked and my auto brightness was off and my phone was set to power saving. So now its good. Amateur.

I bought during last sale. I absolutely love it! I had to reflash, as it has been mentioned, malware is installed too. It's such a good phone for the money. I don't used the second sim but have a 128gb micro SD. Plenty of free apps plus you can use telstra credit for Google play. A bargain at this price and it doesn't warm up like other China phones

  • thanks for sharing, bought one! :-)

Lots of faulty/dead phones from the previous deal https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/210042

    • +1

damn!! should have see this before I order…………….now hoping the one is not faulty!

      • Flash the original Meizu firmware on to it as soon as you receive it.

    • Thanks for the heads up. Looks to be rubbish and JD are bad to deal with.
