    Good deal on @ COTD… as well…

    http://www.catchoftheday.com.au/

  • I looked at this, but if I'm going to carry around this bulk, I really want an SLR..

Good price for the package though.

    • I totally agree. This may be slightly smaller than a dSLR, but it is HUGE compared to a compact with the same/better features.

I got the first of this series of Fuji way back in '03, I think it was a S602Z. Amazing specs at the time, but the auto focus was utter rubbish, so many fuzzy shots, I ditched it as quickly as I could and got a compact instead. And I swore never to buy Fuji again, and I never have.

difference is an SLR + lens with similar magnification factor is lot bulkier AND a lot more expensive (easily 3x or 4x the cost)

my SLR with a 70-300mm is a tank compared to this…

    • Hell yeah, it's more expensive, but not all that much bulkier.
It will take a much better photo too.
The problem with this is that it's huge compared to for example a Lumix, which goes pretty close to these specs in a camera not much bigger than a compact.

Having said that, as I said previously, it's a great price for the camera, that's why I considered it for a second.

  • I have this camera already. I got it from DWI when it was still going for about $296

Now its going for $242 + $35 delivery (You need the $10 freight discount code that pops up when you order)
    http://www.dwidigitalcameras.com.au/store/product.asp?idProd…
But it doesnt come with the bag or the SD card like 1-day, but even so, I think DWI works out slightly less.

The camera itself, I quite like it. If you are after something that can so more than a regular point and shoot but less pro than a regular SLR (and less expensive) then this one does the job quite well. The user interface is a little bit annoying to get used to, but once you do its good.

    • Just wondering if you use the zoom/macro much?

I'm looking for a camera to take photos of very small parts - I have no experience with SLRs/DSLRs, but I need a remote control to take decent photos (without blur)… I was pretty much convinced that a DSLR is the only way I'll get a remote for a camera, but this looks like a good compromise.

  • cheapest on StaticIce is $299.99 - can pick up.

Where did $452 come from? Most expensive on StaticIce is $408….

    • add in the SD card and bag

      • $7.95 for 2Gb SD Card, and if the case is worth $5 i would be surprised!

  • No price in the title. WHY?

    • Because it's his first post, WHY do you ask lol

Does it implicitly state somewhere that this is Australian stock with Australian warranty? I couldn't see it after a quick look. As an alternative, take a look at the Fuji s1600, its in a very similar body with 12.2mp, 15x zoom, dual IS and 3" screen for $298 in Big W catalogue. Starts tomorrow 4th March.

EDIT: The s1600 is newer but the s2000HD has a lens thread and remote control. The s1600 has 3" screen vs 2.7" on s2000HD. Not a lot in it, specs wise. Both use 1/2.3" CCD.

  • Saw it 2day @ Hardly Normal Kawana, Qld marked @ $297…

  • Thanks for the comment alo1234, you are correct, this was my first post. But he is actually a she. Cheers - :)T
