Great chair with high back support. Seems popular with mothers?

    And fathers

    • +2

No, Boba was referring to breastfeeding. How about we say that fathers have the right to breastfeed, even though they don't have breasts, which is nobody's fault.

    • +1

      why were you negged?

      • -1

        Because feminists.

        • +1

supporting womens rights doesn't mean anti-male

        • -3

@kima: Theory does not match reality.

        • @pmupsinep: because saying that a high backed armchair is good for mothers nursing babies is… anti-male?

        • -3

@colson: Learn to read. My comment was in response to alwayseric, who had asked why andrewm71's comment was getting negged.

        • +1

@pmupsinep: woah! you need to step back for a second and look at the flow of conversation pmupsinep. When I read this thread I end with similar thoughts to colson and kima.

What has evolved seems to be your misandric interpretation of feminism. It even sounds like your personal experience. Kima & colson are trying to explain that feminism is not equivalent to misandry. If you ever come across anti-male behaviour, that's misandry, not feminism. Feminism is focussed on building opportunity for females, not denigrating males.

The real concerning thing is though - if you dont start to separate these two concepts, you'll start sounding like a misogynist.

        • -1

@eve: You could probably do with a quick lesson on comprehension too. Please refer to my earlier comment that theory does not match reality as misandry is now a core behaviour among feminists. If you don't start recognising this you'll start sounding like one of these feminists(scratch that, too late).

          @pmupsinep:

Yikes! Are you saying I sound like a misandric feminist? =(

It's really a hard comment to take that someone thinks that feminists are anti-male who think fathers arent important. Parental figures in general are very important…

I feel that it is unfair and inappropriate to label the action of negging "fathers" as a feminist act. I'm not saying that there arent feminists who can be misandric. Im saying not all feminists are.

If you paint a whole heterogenous group under the same negative brush, it feels like you are dengrating its core and foundation.. which in feminism is actually supporting opportunity for women. That's why the movement was called feminism, not misandrism. Hence my thought that not separating the two concepts and coming off as anti-feminist (when really a person may be anti-misandrist instead) may make you seem misogynist as it then looks like you dont support "opportunity for women".

I believe that feminism isnt about bringing down men, it's about pulling up women. And I think it would be good to continue to point out to others exactly that difference. Especially any one who acts in a misandric way who thinks they are acting in a feminist way.

        • @eve:
Anyway, maybe the person who negged is a father who didnt find the poang comfortable! =)

        • @eve:

feminism isnt about bringing down men, it's about pulling up women.

By stepping on men. Thanks for the rest of your post though, I really don't care and I give up conversing with activists on the internet, it's a waste of time.. but if it makes you feel better you win by default. Yay.

        • -1

@eve: don't bother, they're convinced feminism = making women superior to men. there's no changing the minds of people who are that stupid…

  • Was $99 at Richmond (Vic) a few days ago.

can anyone confirm that this deal is available at the Logan QLD store?

    cheers

Really helpful mate, keep contributing to society in the same way, we're all better off now. 👍

So true, terrible part of the world.

        • You're terrible.

      • Chortle chortle mate!!!

    • +4

I'll swing past ikea on the way home and will report back on the Logan store stock. As long as Broden doesn't beat me to it 😉

      • Any news?

        • I've been there and the price is $119

        • @tlam: Can confirm, just walked out - $119

        • just got back, bad news it's $119, still good value.

But I'll wait for another eat-my-discount promotion. They're the way to go ;)

    • Have you tried to ask them for a price match?

      • Did they beat it by 5%.

Check in Tempe store website said it's $48.

PÖANG cushions, ALME NATURAL $69 $48, while stocks last

  • I find Poang chairs comfortable to sit on. They are a classic. There are a range of cushion covers including leather.

  • its toooooo far from my place, otherwise buy one and then return at rhodes (where i got mine last week)

  • .
Same Poang chair (same part numbers) is $99 at Richmond :(

    http://www.ikea.com/au/en/store/richmond/offers_activities
    .

  • I loooove these chairs … Great for sleeping in!

  • Anyone know if this is on sale in WA? TIA

  • +4

After watching the Poang mechanical stress testing example in store, I understood how suitable these chairs are for being bought second hand. So I got mine of gumtree for $10 n bought new cushions instore. Still going strong!

    • +1

      Haha good thinking

  • -3

Many of these surface on gumtree and ebay. Reminds me how uncomfortable they are and the extremely high suicide rates of Scandinavia.

    • Not in this colour combination, and being pick-up only affairs are rarely nearby. I know because I've been watching both sites for this combination for the past two months. Neither stated fact from your second sentence is remotely true

  • I have one of these and I love it. It is so easy to fall asleep in these chairs. And the arc of the chair really contours into my back and it is great !

  • +1

    Good gaming chair

  • NOTE: there are two different cushion styles for the Poang chair. The sale, at least in the Richmond and Springvale stores, appear to apply to the less comfortable cushion style available.

For some reason, IKEA has not given them unique names but I found the cushion used in the Finnsta and Isunda colours much more comfortable (thicker and a rotating head rest)than that used for the Ransta, Alme and Sinmarp colours (fixed, low head-rest so the the back of my head hit the top of the wood frame and the back padding felt thinner).

    • Why that comment was negged is beyond me.

      • There are some weird, unexplained negs (and some totally approriate) going on in this thread. =D

Your post was extremely informative, so thanks!

  • Wondering is this sale still available at Marsden Park?
