SanDisk Ultra USB 3.0 Flash Drive 256GB (SDCZ48-256G-U46) $69.99 USD plus shipping

Amazon Global Standard Shipping (9-12 Business days) $69.99 + $5.05 = $75.04 USD or (Approx $110.09 AUD)
Amazon Expedited Shipping (7-11 Business days) $69.99 + $7.07 = $77.06 USD or (Approx $113.05 AUD)

Note this is the cheapest price I could find with one exception on Ebay for $102.69 AUD but it is from Hong Kong and I guessed a lot of people would prefer it shipped from Amazon. I couldn't find the exact model number listed on the ebay one either.
But here is the link for the Ebay one if you prefer that.

27 MB/s write means it would take roughly 2hrs and 40 mins to fill (assuming large files, not lots of small ones).
In other words 37 seconds per GB.

That's not unusable but it's something to be aware of.

If size, power from the USB port and unusual amounts of vibration aren't issues, you could pick up a 2TB drive on special for that amount of money. But those are factors for a lot of people, especially the size.

totally agree, 2TB is small enough USB & plugin only, even 1TB is much better value.

  • Better of with the superspeed 3.0, pay for what you get.

  • I don't think anyone can confirm the item from eBay Hong Kong is going to be Genuine…

  • PNY one was $59USD a few days ago and is much faster than this one.

PNY one also has a substantial number of 1 star ratings with many reports of failures in the recent stock. Sandisk has a rating of 4.4 and the PNY 4.0, I'd rather buy a reliable drive. The Sandisk one was also under $60 last month.

Has anyone performed a comparison of the two performance wise, the figures posted in the reviews are mainly for the lower capacity drives and in the case of the PNY they swapped to slower memory last year so any benchmarks of the old version may not be reflective of the current performance.
