10pk Stainless Colour/ White Solar Lights for $16 @ Masters

640

Spotted this at Masters which was reduced to $20 from original $25, plus there is a 20% off solar lights promotion to bring the price down to $16. I paid with 10% BigW giftcard so $14.4 for me.

Five star reviews from all 5 user feedback, and these look pretty good in my garden rightnow. The 20% off promotion finishes on 13/Jan, so the $1.6 per light price only lasts till tomorrow. Unfortunately this offer cannot be in conjunction with the "Hardware" online coupon or the 10% off barcode.

    Delivery by truck -$45 :p lol!!!

    Note: just highlighting this, not saying it's a bad deal.

    • +1

      lol Why cant they just do click & collect @ Big W like some Ebay sellers do

  • +1

    Sucks it is plastic as they discolour but at this price you can afford to replace them every so often

    • +1

      They also have stainless steel ones. A little bit dearer. $2 per light. https://www.masters.com.au/product/900038450/olsent-meteor-s…

    • +2

      The listing (for the original spikes) says they are Stainless Steel .. ? Guess that could a be a mistake.

      • The spikes are made of stainless steel, though very thin plates but these are not plastic. Similar material for the cap around the solar panel.

    Hate these things. Totally ruin astronomy when the neighbours all decide they're needed by the 100s in their front yards. Has a top cover at least but still lousy.

    • +14

      What astronomy?

      You should be pointing your telescope to the sky not your neighbors garden…

      • I don't know if you're being a smart alec or not. Light pollution ruins the sky and the more lights you have in a city the more they reflect in unwanted directions. The telescopes I own are Dobsonians. They would be worthless for spying on the neighbours. The image appears upsidedown, and you have to get low to the ground to point it down. It looks like a goddamn cannon, it's taller than me, 12 inches wide at it's narrowest and it's painted white. You don't buy one of those to spy on anything.

      These cheapo solar lights are really dim and output just enough light to show you where a path is, but not what's on it. How does that outweigh the light pollution from street lamps, advertising, office buildings, and car headlights?

      • -7

        Because the neighbours tend to compensate by putting 40 to 100 of them on the path and all over the garden. They are at eye level and are certainly bright enough to ruin your night vision.

        • +2

          Wow there you go, it goes to show there is always someone that will complain about something. Clearly 40-100 is an over-exaggeration, never seen anyone with that many and if those dim lights ruin your night time viewing then what do their house lights do?

          Why aren't you in your backyard using it? can only imagine the neighbours chuckling at someone sitting in their front yard with a telescope.

          We should all stop buying these lights, should all turn our house lights off and don't drive past with your headlights on, there could be people with telescopes around!

        • +6

          They are at eye level

          Are you a garden gnome?

          You are complaining about my complaining and you can't see the irony in your statement.

          Why aren't you in your backyard using it? can only imagine the neighbours chuckling at someone sitting in their front yard with a telescope.

          Because the things I'm looking at are visible in my front yard and not my back yard, genius. There's a 2 story house in the way.

          We should all stop buying these lights, should all turn our house lights off and don't drive past with your headlights on, there could be people with telescopes around!

          Obnoxious. Our night skies have disappeared over the last couple of centuries, to the point where kids gape with their mouth on the floor the first time they see a country sky…and you think you're in the right.

        • @Jad:

          No freakin' idea about night vision or astronomy and abuse to boot and it gets voted up.

          This place is horrible at times.

          @syousef:
          Actually no, im laughing at you (along with others). There is a difference between sitting there getting upset (complaining) and finding the humour (and sadness) in those that do.

          Oh yes genius, I should have known some silly person built a 2 storey house that gets in the way of your star gazing. The point was im sure they have a good laugh when they see you out the front, probably being grumpy about them deciding to light their garden and house.

          People are not in the right for having their lights on and lighting their houses in a residential suburb? ok you must be in the right then. Deal with the fact you live amongst people in a residential neighbourhood, if you don't like it then move to where the country sky is, although it sounds more as if you belong in the sky….

          Centuries? right so the first commercial light that was invented in 1879 started taking out the view of the skies? your life is full of over exaggerations isn't it. Happy star gazing, take some deep breaths…

          @syousef:

          Mearly a joke, albeit at your expense. Sorry, didn't mean to offend.

        • +1

          Why not move to the country… and eat a lot of peaches. I have similar problems with my neighbours, I like to play backyard cricket but their freaking windows get in the way all the time.

        • @worthy1:

          For all your silly personal attacks making out that im a weirdo on my lawn light pollution is a well known problem and i am far from the only person complaining. You can fix your ignorance with google but of course you won't.

        • +1

          @Jad:

          Apology accepted. A joke i am fine with but others aren't kidding

        • +1

          @syousef:
          Then move to the country. Personally air pollution worries me more then not being able to see the stars properly.

          You get on a forum saying that you hate garden lights, that it ruins astronomy and bang on about light pollution and not expect people to joke about it. Something doesn't bother you enough to read about it doesn't make you ignorant but you are just highlighting your ignorance there. Shame you used both your down votes on me.

          There are worse problems in the world then peoples garden lights that's for sure…

        • @worthy1:

          Yes I'll just ditch my job, leave my family high and dry because some random troll on Ozbargain has decided that I should move to the country so that my complaints about garden lights don't offend his poor sensitive little eyes.

          Since there are more important problems in the world than people's garden lights why are you wasting your time replying to me? Oh that's right because you want to freely express your own opinion about this "little" problem.

          You pretend to take the higher moral ground but all you're really saying is "Shut up I don't want to hear it".

          Then you complain about down votes when you've probably cast them yourself. Well I'll just throw your own words back at you to show how little sense they make: "Wow there you go, it goes to show there is always someone that will complain about something"

        • -1

          @syousef:
          Sigh some people live sad lives. lol

          paying someone out that is complaining is not complaining genius. stop being pretentious and get a life…nights falling and you have neighbours to curse so ill stop wasting your time….look out for my full moon though :)

        • @worthy1:

          paying someone out that is complaining is not complaining genius

          It is complaining about complaining. How the heck can you seriously pretend not to understand this and then sarcastically call me "genius"???

          stop being pretentious

          And again you completely fail to see the irony.

          Clearly logic isn't your strong suit, but abuse is.

        • @syousef:
          Its like arguing with a child. Im done. There are some torch threads and wireless outdoor light thread that require your disapproval. Better get in quick, its almost nightfall and assume you live in the dark and dont use your computer as to not contribute to light pollution.

          Have a great night!

        • @worthy1:

          You're not refuting anything I say. It's just abuse and repetition now. You're not just illogical, you've also become boring.

  • Solar lights… as if you need a light when the sun's out.

    Duh!

      Lol
      Good bad joke ;)

    Is there a promo code for the 20% off? It still shows $20 to me

      "20% discount applies at checkout page"

      • +1

        thanks mate :)

  • +1

    I have these, they're okay. They are pretty dim and some people may prefer just having white lights, but they're worth the $16

  • +3

    I'm tempted to buy them but I don't know what to do with them. Does the light attract mosquitoes?

  • Just picked my order up, pretty good, decent and seems to work well.

  • +1

    Is there any plastic layer on solar panel that needs to be removed before installation?

    • No. Simply plug all parts together and that's it. AA batteries are included.

  • Bought a set. Seem to work fine. I like the way the battery is a replaceable AA even if it is only a 300mah NiCad.
