  • Are these cards fast?

    • Fast enough, unless you want to record 4k

      • +7

        Resolution =! bitrate.

These Sandisk cards constantly clock sustained writes over 20MB/s or ~180mb/s which is more than 2x the bitrate headroom for 4K 30fps recording on GoPro 4 Blacks and the like (which record at 7.5MB/s or 60mb/s). It will also be fine for 4K 60fps shooting with Sony's RX100 mIV, A7(family) and more which shoot in the XAVC S codec at 4:2:0 8bit (internal recording).

        https://gopro.com/support/articles/hero4-black-recording-tim…
        http://philipbloom.net/blog/sonydeclareswar

4K 60fps recording on the Panasonic GH4 is over 200mb/s so that's one of the very few 4K cameras that this Sandisk card doesn't cut the mustard for.

So many times people on this forum talk about how these ~20MB/s write cards are not good for 4K when that statement is just rubbish.

There are 1080p cameras that record ProRes 422, 4444, DNxHD and RAW that would smash higher than 400mb/s at 25 fps and require cards like SxS, CFast and more. Again, resolution =! bitrate.

        • -8

Recording in 4K is still going to be potentially unreliable on a card of this speed depending on recording settings, so this is hardly a perfect solution and is not future proof. It is great speed for the price though! Also it should be formatted as "=/=' as opposed to "=!".

        • +1

          @bananabendera:

That's completely incorrect. I have stated how these cards have sustained write speeds of over 20MB/s and that the write speeds of most consumer 4K cameras are less than half of that.

There will not be any potential unreliability if you have the bandwidth headroom, any more than the faster cards.

        • Just checking, MB = megabyte and mb = megabit? So 1 MB = 8*mb?

        • +2

          @ilikeradiohead:

Correct, but technically megabit is supposed to have a capital M (Mb = megabit).

        • +1

The GH4 is 200mbit at 1080P, but is limited to 100mbit at 4K and Cinema 4K resolutions (frame rates of 24FPS at C4K and 24/25/30FPS at 4K), in which case a card that can do a notch above class 10 is acceptable and I've never had a buffer underrun using extreme sandisk's.

Black Magic Pocket Cinema camera on the other hand in raw capture is very touchy and only works with the fast sandisks and even this U3 one will start to skip frames after a few seconds of recording.

        • +1

Just a little side note that recording with the XAVC-S codec with the Sony's will require a 64GB card to work. So this card won't work for XAVC-S

        • @lehboy:

The deal was originally for the Sandisk Ultra 64GB cards in 40MB/s + 80MB/s for ~$20 + ~$25 delivered. They all sold out in about 5 minutes and then this deal was amended to the Sandisk Extreme 32GB and other Deals Direct listings.

        • +1

@c0balt: Noted, the 64GB extreme pro would be a good card for 4K recording

    • +2

I personally went for the 40MB/s as you probably wont see any speed difference in a phone

  • +1

Wow Easternculture you could have posted these a minute ago before I posted mine lol and Congrats BTW.

  • 1500 very good effort.

  • +3

well done, Easternculture! Amazing 1500th post!

    • +1

      You're amazing !

      Thanks :)

      • Alright buddy… now… I am looking forwards to your 15,000th post. ;)

  • Do we need to put in both codes?

    • +1

      no. only one

Both get you $5 off $20

      • Maybe chuck that in your post :)

        And congrats!

  • +1

    On ya mate.

  • thanks!

  • Any loss in speed if using it with the adapter so it can be used in Nikon D3300?

    • I had the same query (and camera) as you and did a bit of research. I'd say it doesn't matter in most cases but there were just too many people recommending not using an adaptor for one reason or another in the camera.

I ended up getting the 32GB Ultra from Officeworks for $14.10 price matched from Shopping Express. Contrary to the website, it is actually the 80MB/s version.

    • Short answer, No, long answer https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bqRq6ASkfJI

  • +1

    Don't forget cashback.

    • +1

      Thanks. Added to OP

    • +1

Only if coupon codes posted by EC are listed on cashback sites.

      • Just realised that. Oh well, worth a shot anyway.

  • Great deal.

  • 80 Mbps sold out… :(

  • Thanks easternculture. Great work!

  • How long do these take to arrive roughly?

  • +2

    Sold out?

    • some at DD must find the loophole, stop it!

  • bought one 80MB thanks!
    also bought TA's $6 16GB earlier
    shouldn't get either really

  • 26 minutes and out of stock?

    • Yeh, they probably only have 5 at that price..

    • +1

To be fair they have had over 300 clicks. Even if they had 50 each at that price it could have sold out especially with people buying more than one.

  • +1

Almost sold out when checking out, went to buy - SOLD OUT! FFS.

  • +2

Congrats on the milestone EC :)

  • i got charge for Transit Care $2.95 … anyone having the same thing ?

    • just untick that option bro

      • i dont have that option to untick it though..

        • +1

Calm down… We know you are all pumped up…
          Look carefully…

  • For the SD cards, I added the 29$ one, then went to this page and added the sd card to my cart to update it, then only ended up paying $18.96

    • which $29 one

    • Ok, my way doesn't seem to work no longer, but PayPal have sent the payment way after it was sold out.

      Sorry for confusion.

  • congrats purchased extreme pro.

awaiting evo, evo + and extreme pro delivery in few days. Will now be able to compare the speeds myself…

Thanks EC,TA for the great deals…

    • dont bother. extreme pro will be best for sure

    • +5

Nope you actually purchased Sandisk Extreme. It's not the Pro version.

Item description on the page is wrong although the model number listed is correct for Sandisk Extreme 32GB Micro SD and the picture is also of the standard Sandisk Extreme.

  • sold out? can't add to cart

  • Sandisk 64GB USB3 UltraFit sold out. The Extreme Pro won't let me add it to cart….
Either way - congrats on the post!

    • yep same trying to get the Extreme pro but wont add to cart

  • Extreme Pro 64Gb 95mb read 90 mb write, $60.76, 10% off with code + 4% cashrewards.. comes to about 50$ each for one of THE best cards on the market : http://www.dealsdirect.com.au/sandisk-64gb-extreme-pro-micro…

    • its already sold out

      • hmmm it says almost sold out.. but doesnt add to cart on clicking..

  • +3

I press add to cart and nothing happens. The cart is still empty. Using Safari. Same happening on iPhone as well. Anyone else facing the same issue?

    http://www.dealsdirect.com.au/sandisk-extreme-pro-microsdhcm…

  • +1

The Sandisk microSD that you point to is only Extreme, not Extreme PRO. Look at the picture, it is different to the description.

They have the Extreme PRO here for $38.36:
    http://www.dealsdirect.com.au/sandisk-32gb-extreme-pro-micro…

    • $33.36 after discount…do you reckon it's still a good price?

    • Titled as Extreme Pro, so they gonna get an SNAD claim in Paypal and Google if they send something else :P

Get this one if anyone needs the 64GB, this have around 90 MB/s writes and 80MB/s writes and goo enough for any Go Pros or any 4K cameras

      http://www.dealsdirect.com.au/sandisk-extreme-class-10-u3-mi…

      • +1

Just about every one who buys this could open a SNAD claim in Paypal as they're getting the standard Extreme 32GB card, not the Sandisk Extreme Pro which is spelt on the item page product name and description which is incorrect. Sandisk Extreme (which is what you're actually buying here) is a totally different product.

  • Website sham! Not able to add to cart any micro sd card even though it shows as being in stock.

  • +2

People are going to get seriously disappointed when the standard Sandisk Extreme 32GB SD card arrives in the post instead of the Extreme Pro 32GB as advertised on the page. Incorrect description. Although the picture is of the standard Sandisk Extreme. The model number listed is the Extreme 32GB card.

    • i was already disappointed because i can't even add the standard extreme card to my cart lol. eh….now it's sold out

  • +1

    From the item page.

    Item model number: SDSQXNE-032G

    http://www.dealsdirect.com.au/sandisk-extreme-pro-microsdhcm…

    From Amazon.

SanDisk Extreme 32GB microSDHC UHS-1 Card with Adapter (SDSQXNE-032G-GN6MA)

    http://www.amazon.com/SanDisk-Extreme-microSDHC-Adapter-SDSQ…

Good luck with your Sandisk Extreme 32GB (not the Pro version). You people thought you were buying the Pro version, but nope.

I'm giving it a negative vote because it's not the Sandisk Extreme Pro which Dealsdirect was trying to pass it off as.

    • Technically you are indeed correct, It is the responsibility of the retailer to provide accurate information to the customer on the product they are selling, That being said Ozbargainers should of also noticed the image of the product, lol…

      • +1

I'd say a lot of these Ozbargainers here didn't take any notice of the picture or the model number on the page. All they saw was 32GB Sandisk Extreme Pro.

        • Lol well not me (the product was sold out already) however i did in fact clearly notice the yellow colour :P

Australian Card Model Number is: SDSDQXP-032G-Q46A

          Put in a Report.

Under Consumer Law this is obviously a fault of the Store for misleading the consumer with incorrect information.

        • @Tehcookiemonsta:

Yep that is the model number for the Sandisk Extreme Pro 32GB.

  • It's a mistake. SDSQXNE-032G is Extreme, not Extreme Pro. I think they are going to have a lot of cancelled orders?? You can see the image is correct, but the title and description are for a different card.

    • More like have a lot of SNAD Paypal claims or credit card chargebacks.

  • Hi EC thanks for your effort and your deals.

  • Is it a deal for a wrong card??? Best price ever??? I think EC should be modest in his posts and concentrate on quality instead of quantity

    • Well from the looks of it there is a chance that this is just the Extreme Version & Not the Extreme Pro as stated, However there will obviously be a refund. Hopefully before shipped out..

      • Dealsdirect probably don't even know there's any thing wrong (they probably can't tell the difference between Sandisk Extreme and Sandisk Extreme Pro). Orders might get shipped out as per usual.

        • That will be a shame would be very annoyed to receive an Extreme & then have to pay to ship it back. Would Expect the retailer to cover full costs.

        • @Tehcookiemonsta:

I can guarantee this will be the Sandisk Extreme. No way in the first place the Extreme Pro would be going for $19.

Sandisk Extreme Pro 32GB Micro SD is going for $98 at HN.

          http://www.harveynorman.com.au/cameras-printers-stationary/c…

        • @hollykryten: True… Well it was sort of a good deal however anyone expecting the Extreme Pro shouldn't I thought Eastern Culture would of noticed there is something wrong by looking at the Image at least.

        • Dealsdirect probably don't even know there's any thing wrong

what's the difference? they're all tiny cards?

        • @tdw:

Difference is the write speed on the Extreme Pro is a lot faster than the standard Extreme. 32GB Extreme = 40mb/s write, 32GB Extreme Pro = 90mb/s write. Just because they're all tiny cards doesn't mean that every Micro SD card has the same memory and controller in it.

If you're going to 4K video then the Sandisk Extreme Pro would be the one to get having the 90mb/s write which this one from Dealsdirect is not that one.

This is the Sandisk Extreme Pro 32GB Micro SD and notice the price difference. http://www.dealsdirect.com.au/sandisk-32gb-extreme-pro-micro…

        • @hollykryten: oh you and i know the difference, the stuff in italics is just what i imagined dealsdirect would be saying ;)

  • This is how it is.

Sandisk Extreme 32GB Micro SD Model = SDSQXNE-032G (the model number listed on this Dealsdirect product page)

Sandisk Extreme Pro 32GB Micro SD Model = SDSDQXP-032G

  • Click bait

    • Lol poor EC, not his fault - actually good to see a post from him without the referral links - but this deal is going to turn bad for those who actually realise the difference …lots of paypal claims and revoked votes on this "deal"

      • actually good to see a post from him without the referral links

41 deals and only one referral post

Stop stalking me and talking shit about me.

        • +1

Mate settle down, it was actually a compliment… and in response to another users comment on a front page deal no less…lthere was no need for you to weigh in and make false accusations once again

In all sincerity, Nice work getting to 1500 posts - regardless of how many referral posts included on the tally it still shows dedication and a lot of time and effort on your behalf, well done

But i emplore you, Please dont respond with more abuse - im not in the mood for another one of your petulant displays….looking forward to your inevitable next front page deal mate, cheers

        • Lol here we go again ^^

        • -1

          @pointless comment:

im not in the mood for another one of your petulant displays

me neither, hence i reported your stalking behavior to the mods

        • @CVonC: no , sorry to disappoint, hed really have to flame me this time to get me going, not in The mood for his repetitive spiteful remarks - ive heard them all at .least twice

I actually compimented him and he still abused me!

        • +1

One? Let's see. Multiple referral deals from iHerb, Groupon, Home, Amaysim….I got bored looking for more.

        • @easternculture: cmon now, a response to another users comment one a front page deal does not constitute your insinuation of stalking…if i got banned for that, which also included comliments towards your good self, ill eat my ipad!

And fyi running to the mods is not a good look…i could have reported you so many times in the past for so many spiteful comments you have made which would have been enough for weeks worth of bans, but i choose to fight my own battles.
