International Call - Nepal *feeling sad*

Hi OzBargainers,
I need your help getting a sim/plan phone. As my contract from vodafone is ending this month. I was looking for a new phone/sim plan. I knew vodafone had 300minutes international call before but I could not find it anymore. Since my parents and all families lives in Nepal. I need to call Nepal few times a week. Contracts on Optus and Vodafone does not seem to have Nepal included. Vodafone only has 120min per month which is insuffficient for me.
If anyone in here knows any carrier or any plans that has more than 200mins international call per month to Nepal then I would be so happy. Please help me in deciding a carrier or my next plan!..
Thank you everyone in advance!!

  • Go TPG with their current promotion of 10 dollars per month with 550 dollars of call national and international. 1.5 gb data and TPG to TPG free. 10 dollars promotion is for the first 6 months and thereafter 20 per month. Iy uses vodafone 4g network

    • Thanks for the info. I really like this plan and would be moving to it.

  • It might be cheaper if they call you. There may be calling cards in Nepal which you could pay for.

  • or get a sim with unlimited local calls and get a calling card from those Asian supermarkets

  • Maybe look into using Google Hangouts with cheap international IP calls to real landlines and mobiles?

  • If they own androids they might already have Hangouts built into their handsets: good for unlimited voice.

0.14CAD (GV out rate) costs an order of magnitude more than the 2, 1 or 0 cents per minute I normally afford to pay for VoLTE<>offline countries.

Look up Voxox if you can fund with previously acquired $5 for 30 Telstra starter pack & GP in-app purchases; new cost= a few cents/min.

    Or 3 x $12.50 = 270 mins for (3) Phonebot on ozb VF Sims. -Premium & cumbersome.

  • Virgin mobile include international calls as part of thier included value on post paid plans. You can check out the rates here https://www.virginmobile.com.au/international-rates/
Looks like $4 or $1.30 per minute depending on the plan.

  • +1

Get a prepaid Vodafone SIM and activate the "Pay As You Go" offer. Nepal is 10c/min to landlines and 14c/min to mobiles on this.
