  • Ummm can get same Chinese shitsu for less on ebay, sam output power.

don't be silly, this is premium stuff and worth 4x the price for the convenience. The muppets below have spoken with their downvotes, but no real experience with these devices (as usual)

      Go Harvey go!

How does a dog charge your ipad?

      • Shit-su… get it? :)or well, sh!t :)

A search on a famous auction website for "2 port USB cigarette" shows results starting at $1 (Price + Postage: lowest first).
    Delivery included.

    They do work fine.

    • +7

I have some of those and they are totally useless. IMHO worth the extra couple of dollars to get something NOW that will work, rather than waiting for China shipping…

        • -8

Hilarious. I get a downvote. Must be a Harvey Norman shopper who thinks they are getting something premium by buying local. Go Harvey go.

      • I've also purchased some cheep Asian ones as well and they have all been rubbish. Either Don't stay in socket, stopped working altogehter not long after first use or gave bad RF interference with car radio.

        • -3

dunno what to tell you; all mine work fine. Except one which I bought that came over-volted. Closer to 6V than 5V. Even bought one from aldi which had 4 cig ports and 2 USB ports. That only cost $5 at my local store. Makes this one look like crap value.

  • Zapals (Slapaz for JV), have had 2 port ones available for free in the last couple of months.

    • +1

      same as what @cheepwun said

IMHO worth the extra couple of dollars to get something NOW that will work, rather than waiting for China shipping…

      • +1

Now now, half their stuff has come from Malaysia…

  • +5

Looks to be an uncomfortable fit. Probably better off buying a fleshlight.

    • +2

I recommend the Ashley Madison version. After you receive it, it publishes itself all over the internet for everyone to know.

  • while the ebay ones are cheaper, if you need one now and dont want to waste 6 weeks for delivery, harvey norman is your friend

    • -2

6 weeks might be an exaggeration. I'd rather get 4 of these with a little wait (and more colour choices) for the same price than just get one from a crappy Australian retailer (who very likely sells the same product with a meaningless brand).

      • +1

Fair enough but it's not all about you and your situation.
Some people may need it now, plus it's also covered with a 12 month warranty under Australian consumer law.

        • -1

the warranty is perfect for those worrying about returning a $1 item which will likely never fail within 12 months. The chances of all 4 failing (at $1 each sourced from ebay) is just about impossible.

Warranty is useless when you are paying 4x the cost (plus transport)

        • Tough day at work?
You won't have any protection if it shorts out and sets your car on fire, highly unlikely but something to consider.

        • As stated above, search for:
          2 port cigarette USB

Sort: Price + Postage: Lowest first.
          Search Worldwide.

Plenty of offerings for $1 on my screen. Not yours?
I have bought several for 12V solar projects and car stuff. They work fine.

fear-mongering will get you your promotion; that's the way.

        • -1

No I am not fear mongering, highly unlikely but it could happen -
Warning over USB chargers after woman dies from apparent electrocution.

        • @28Degrees:

No I am not fear mongering

YOU ARE fear mongering - since that story you linked to is about unsafe MAINS POWERED chargers.

highly unlikely but it could happen

Compared to what you are proposing, there is more chance of winning the lottery without buying a ticket.

        • The article is warning about buying cheap cables and chargers from overseas that don't comply with Australian standards.
It doesn't say that the car chargers are okay.

Harvey Norman also sell this one as well linked above. Normally sells for $29.95. Currently on sale for $18. Only difference between the Inca one from the looks is the clips.

          http://www.harveynorman.com.au/8ware-dual-usb-mini-car-charg…

As for the Inca one in this deal. Typical low quality Chinese product as well. Probably not even worth the the $7.95 they normally charge for this or even the $4.00 sale price.

        • @28Degrees:

It doesn't say that the car chargers are okay.

No. And it doesn't say that Salmon Sandwiches are OK either.

That article is pretty crappy, with zero original content - gawd knows why you linked to it. However you only need to click one of the numerous links contained in it to learn that none of it has anything to do with the safety of CAR chargers.

        • Also the cheap ebay chargers that claim to have an output of 2.1 amp usually put out a lot less.

  • Harvey Norman has always been good to me with warranty. My Klipsch S4i's broke after 3 years and HN replaced them for me even though I was 2 months out of warranty. Somehow I trust something from an Australian brick and mortar retailer to not catch on fire more than a $1 one from China.

    • -2

I'm sure this Harvey Norman model is of a totally different pedigree to those selling from China. They would never bulk-buy from Chinese sellers (or deal with distributors who bulk buy from China). Plus that $4 price tag and branding makes me feel more comfortable.

If warranty still makes the argument after paying 4x the going rate for one of these, then knock yourself out.

German designed. This is by far the best car charger you can get, 4 ports all 2.4A each. All that excess power from the car's alternator, might as well use it. Have two of these babies in my SUV bought off Amazon UK on half price sale brought in by a relative. Doesn't ship from amazon or amazon UK so you may need to use a 3rd party shipper.

    • You bought an SUV on Amazon? ;)

      • LOL. I am sure one of these days cars can be bought off amazon, its gonna be popular, no more sleazy car salesmen…
