shadowshriek on 18/03/2010 - 11:24 ¶Saw this and 2 others in the paper today, they have the 55" Samsung Full HD 1080 100hz LCD TV for $2391 (one of those 'Ask for a deal' offers
http://www.jbhifi.com.au/tv-lcd-led-plasma/samsung/55-inch-f...Looks to be this one on Samsung's page
http://www.samsung.com/au/consumer/tv-audio-video/television...Series 6 55inch (LA55B650), RRP of $3299
We bought our LG 52" LCD about a year and a half ago for $3000, don't remember the exact specs but I think the above is a pretty good deal..

Try $2000 :) they will always try and Bump it back up to $2300 but that price is already awesome
I got myself one of these 55" A650 TV's from JB only 9 months ago for $3799 + free 22" TV that i sold for $400 so $3399 was my end price..
In 9 months it is now more then $1000 cheaper! just WOW :) sux for me! but thats how things are!

The only good thing about DLNA is that you can plug in one of those USB Portable hard drives and watch Dvix, Xvid and even mkv movies from the USB port on your TV :) everything else Youtube, Games, Weather" is worthless
But just for the USB, Movie player and Ease of use its well worth every single dollar over the Samsung TV's that dont come with it! Trust me.
Not even Playstation 3 plays MKV :) But the Samsung does
+1 voteI'm planning on connecting it on my computer via ethernet cable to my router so that all the media I have on my comp, I can stream it over to the Samsung LCD. So you don't even have to transfer media to an external. Even better, that's why I want the DLNA feature. FYI, Playstation 3 can also play .mkv if you use the streaming method. This program does it heaps good: http://ps3mediaserver.blogspot.com/
Michegianni on 20/03/2010 - 08:21 ¶You can play mkv through DLNA fine over PS3. You just need good software like PS3 Media Server. And it's not USB. It's through the network.
cameldownunder on 18/03/2010 - 14:31 ¶I got a 40" series 6 (LA40B640)
Has 2 USB ports,
1 for Wireless stick / usb flash
1 for Wireless stick / USB flash / AND Hard Drive (I've attached a WD 320GB, and works a treat)The wireless stick you need for YouTube on TV, or download content (not done yet) AND STREAMING
Quote from vid_ghost: "everything else Youtube, Games, Weather” is worthless
Must agree on this
+1 votefor those without DLNA, don't worry.
the price for a dedicated media player to play all those videos (including MKV and flash) are around $100 anyway.so that means the price different between the TV model with DLNA and the one without should not be more than $100. if we include the convenience factor, make that $200 different max.
more than that and it's not worth it.
indeed… :) but the TV's with DLNA tend to also come with other extra's and feature like 100Hz vs 50hz and 100,000 contrast ratio over 60,0000 and from my understanding samsung doesnt make an identical TV one with and one without DLNA so they are worth allot more then the $100 to $200 premium
+1 voteWhile researching the difference between b550 and the b650, I've stumbled across the Samygo project (http://samygo.sourceforge.net/). You might be able to enable the wiselink hack and do the usb hdd movie play stuff.
But then, you will have to be comfortable with flashing modified firmware to your tv
(I ended up getting the b650 because I chickened out ;p)
Michegianni on 01/04/2010 - 20:11 ¶Perfect my mate is doing it.
But he said do it through VGA - there's some dirtyness when going through HDMI (this is from DVI to HDMI might be better going from HDMI port directly)
