  • Sheesh, no where around here they've got Golden Ale, so I've got to go to Wolli Creek.

It makes me think think these will be end of line sales.

when will Coopers Extra Stout be on special?
I bought some Coopers Sparkling Ale for $49 from 1st Choice AMEX deal

    • Yeah a shame it isn't given they just sent out a dark beers newsletter. And the dark Beers they have from the newsletters "on sale" are all prices where they are way more than the carton price for a 4 or 6 pack.

    • besides 3 ravens and code stacking, unfortunately stout isn't reduced much often - guinness sometimes, lion/sinha never :(

      • That 3 Ravens was just a pricing mistake when they first listed it on DM connections, I'm pretty sure. I had another connections one when first listed that was the same - and they actually cancelled my order because of it (the supplier that is not DM). I got an order in for it and the smoke beer. That said, it wasn't that great. The stout was OK, but a bit lackluster/watery I thought. The smoke beer was an odd one. It was one of those odd beers where I was drinking it and one time I'd be thinking "Mmm, this smoky essence triggers fond memories of a smoked wurst like my uncle used to make". And than later I'd be thinking "This is like drinking bong-water".

EDIT: BTW, who actually sells Lion stout? Other than online like Beerstore?

beerstore is actually acland cellars :)

a few other good beer shops and bars in melbourne have it

don't know about sydney, but according to google, it's in pokolbin :)

          @tonester:

          I'm in Brisbane.

BTW< for those looking for a good stout on sale maybe keep an eye open for Little Creatures Return of the Dread. That is a seasonal one, and it is Best Before late March 2016 I think - so DM will probably drop the price later this month. It has already dropped to $69. And being a high ABV stout, they really don't turn.

Also I'd highly recommend Southwark Stout. Now that is magical. And fantastic value. I wish I could buy it in-store.

        • @Mobe1969:

surely there must be some decent craft beer places in brissie?

+1 for southwark stout - 4 pines is also worth seeking :)

actually there are quite a few great stouts that i could list…

  • Thanks will grab some - great beers

    • btw the pale is nowhere outside of WA according to DM's 1300 number people

  • Are they any good? Decent Aussie beers are hard to come by imo

    • coopers aren't too hard to come by and can be decent :)

did you try Himmel Hund Witbier?

      • +1

I'm in WA… from memory it wasn't worth it with the postage. I could be wrong though. Would have loved to try it though considering I'm a big fan Leffe / Konig Ludwig Weiss / Hoegaarden etc

Disagree - we've got an awesome beer scene. Depends what you like though, I like ales.

Nail is one of my staples - good cascadey (citrusy hopped) pale style ale, the other one is more of an american style bitter pale. Both are right up my street.

Guess we all have our own tastes, I firm believer that Belgium produces the best beer in the world. The more import beer I try the more I shy away from Aussie stuff. I do love Feral Hop Hog and plenty of others… Cascade… 150 Lashes.
Might give these nails a go, thanks for the feedback.

If you like hop hog, that's on the pale side of IPAs, you may well like Golden Nail. It's an easier drink but a similar citrusy aftertaste.

I am personally not a fan of European (outside of UK anyway), but that's the beauty of tastes, right?!

        • I firm believer that Belgium produces the best beer in the world.

          any in particular? trappist?

          tried much from uk/germany/canada/usa?

        • +1

@tonester: Apart from the ones I mentioned above which I drink regularly there's been quite a few I've tried and liked. I had to use google for some of the names Duvel, Chamay, Trappist Rochforte. That one with the gnome la chauffe. Delerium Tremans… expensive but.

Went to Belgium for Tomorrowland (part of a big eurotrip) a few years back and I was heaven beer wise… can't remember any of names but I tried lots and loved them. Ridiculously cheap on tap too.

German wise I love Hoffbrau, Weiheny's…. even Becks, so long as its the german import version.

More than likely only the typical UK/US beers I've tried.

One of the best Australian beers by far is Hop Hog a little pricey but definitely worth it. However if your willing to venture a little further afield try Ballast Point which is the best beer in my opinion that Dan Murphys has to offer. Just my 2 cents =)

      • +1

Totally agree with you on Hop Hog, I tried to get on the Copycat bandwagon too but didn't enjoy it as much. Ballast Point, I hadn't seen that one before… on the wishlist it goes.

  • Does Coopers Sparlking Ale have a "Best After" date like the PA? I'd like to buy now and consume later. Edit: As it is bottle conditioned I'm guessing yes.

  • 4.15% cash back using Price Pal. At least 5% discount using Woolies eGift cards. That's like under $40/slab of Coopers Red. I'm a happy man.
