    Is there a stray problem in blacktown?

    How will they know if you're a resident?

    They only have records of home owners

    • +2

      The residential address on your license / id card?

      • -1

        Not everyone drives

        • +3

          Then not everyone would be able to get it for free.

          @ronnknee:

          Will they check?

        • @jv: I suppose, since they have separate fees for residents and non-residents.

          @jv:

          if you can't prove your residential address, getting a free microchip for your pet should be the least of your worries

    • Home owners: The big banks?

    • -1

      well it defeats the purpose of micro chipping. you have to give them your address. so if your animal is lost you can find them or some one can find you?? so if you give them a fake address and live out of area what is the point? your animal will be lost?

    Wow. bargain. normally vac+chip is $250+? from vet.

    My in law sister uses "find my friends" app to get the same effect to locate her hubby.

    • Microchiped my cat at Sydney Animal Hospital Newtown for approx. $35, vaccination was ~$55. they usually also charge ~$60 as consulation fee although I did not consult them about anything…

      But $250+???

      • Just check cost as per RSPCA. vac is not cheap.

          vac is not cheap.

          It's cheaper if you're a conscientious objector

        • @jv: i consciously object to negging jv's comments

        • Right…
          I was trying to say vaccination is approx. 55 per single shot,
          3 shots added together and you get the $170~$200 quote by RSPCA

    Thanks OP perfect timing. We found a stray and was waiting out for a deal. Saved $100 local vet. Go it done here and it was no hassles - job done! Don't understand why RSPCA costs so much when they should be promoting this activity as a way to prevent strays.

    • Go it done here and it was no hassles

      Did you have to prove you were a resident?

      • No but I had my rates notice and ID on hand ready to go in case it was asked

    • it is good to have a microchip but you should also leave a collar with your address on it in case some one wants to return the pet straight to you.

    Missus asked me to get one , just in case if I'm being sneaky
