GCCC: 'minimum 25% Off' Sale across a Range of Cricket Gear

50

Just noticed I had this email in my inbox. The sale runs until 8am tomorrow (Monday), so may not be too late for some people. I expect you'll have to have an account with GCCC to view the sale (it's free to sign up, but still…), which will be fine for the many cricketers out there who probably use GCCC already, but for the casual viewer is a PITA.

Sunday Night Sale

Over 19 Brands
Over 450 Products

etc.

After having a casual glance through the items, the following items stood out to me (prices not including delivery):

  • Helix Huntsman G1 SH Bat, RRP - $575, on sale for $141 (if they had this in a long blade I'd buy three)
  • Spartan Speed Gun, RRP - $99 on sale for $69
  • A raft of shoes on sale, Adidas Vector Spikes, RRP ~$220 down to $146 for example

Of course, being the tail end of cricket season, sales on cricket gear will occur every other week, so this flash sale isn't necessarily that big of a deal. But if you need some gear now for your finals, this isn't a bad way to go about it.

    Gold Coast City Council ?

    • Greg Chappell Cricket Centre.

      • Yah, that's the one. I initially had that in the title, but it was very long and looked goofy.

Aside from that, I figured a sale exclusively on cricket gear in Feb was going to be niche enough that anyone who clicked the post was going to know what 'GCCC' stood for anyway!

        • I was mucking around.

  • Tempting on the cricket bat. There's absolutely no sign of any feedback on the internet. But if it's made in England, it should be right. Right? :)

    • A few weeks ago I bought a new GM and have just about finished knocking it in. Then I saw this and nearly made it right through to the confirm page, but as you say, there is zero info about the bat on the internet and it looks like GCCC are the only store that stocks it. I'd be wary of the RRP. I backed out.

      • Mmm, yeh it is quite the risk. I too have a newish bat, that's about half a season old. So I guess I don't need it lol. I'd absolutely skip it, if it were one of those generic ones from India. GCCC do quite a few vids on YouTube on their gear, but too bad they didn't check these out.

G1 for 150 is still an amazing price.

Picked one up at worst if you dont rate it you can put it on ebay and break even

    • Should be right since its made in England? England got your question and responded https://www.google.com.au/imgres?imgurl=http://usd24.com/wp-…

      • Damn those immortals!

Yeah the Helix brand is rare enough, and I too would be wary of the RRP. That said, GCCC have several physical store fronts (none near me though, unfortunately) so you could probably ring them in the morning and discuss the ins and out of the wood if you take a punt on one tonight. It looks mighty fine in the picture, especially for $155 or whatever it works out to be delivered.

Jason Gillespie has 'promoted' them on his twitter: https://twitter.com/ycccdizzy/status/381310297098571776

and www.slashsport.com have them listed, but unavailable for $499. But I've never used or heard of slashsport, so take that with a grain of salt too.

I see there are a fellow cricketers who are frustrated at the general lack of cricket gear reviews on the internet! It's infuriating. There's a few decent Indian cricket forums that occasionally have feedback (none on the Helix brand though, more on CA/MRF and increasingly Spartan gear or other subcontinent brands), but not much more than that.

Especially compared to another sport (golf) whose equipment is potentially even more personal than cricket gear, and yet there are thousands of sites and forums full of reviews and feedback on any piece of golf equipment you care to google for.

I train in the nets thrice a week, I could easily try a bunch of gear and review it!

    • Did you grab one of the Helix bats?

If they happen to be discounted still in the future - which is quite possible if they still have stock. Then I wouldn't mind hearing your thoughts on it.
If they run out, then whatever, won't hurt the wallet :)

      • I sat and looked at the 'confirm purchase' screen several times, for at least 20 minutes in total throughout the evening…

… and talked myself out of it. I already have two nice bats (I did consider selling one to finance a new one), but that seemed utterly opulent in a way I just couldn't justify to myself!

        • I bit the bullet, but as I feared, they don't have a live stock system. So they ran out of stock anyway lol.

        • @Giteau: Oh bummer! Ah well, the next 'end of season' cricket sale will only be a matter of days away at every local sportspower/intersports/other local sport shop, hopefully you'll nab another bargain then!

If you get the bat and don't like it, you should be able to return it. I've done that numerous times during my buy and see phase.

  • the bat is no longer on their website.

  • I've marked this as expired, as this sale has ended. However it appears that GCCC will be having rolling '25% off' sales on various brands through the week. Right now, it's Puma, GM and Adidas. Might be worth keeping tabs on any items you're keen on.
