Can this phone be bought after trade in discount of $200 for old phone at JB for $298…

    • Where did you get the info for the $200 trade in from ?

      • +4

Pretty sure he's confused and is talking about the $200 trade in that expired a month ago and was only valid with purchase of a samsung phone.

  • Was looking at the reviews and these are listed as the main disadvantages:

No 4K video recording, no 60fps mode either
    Non-removable battery
No quick charging or wireless charging support
    No dual band Wi-Fi
No Lollipop Material design to be found

Non-removable battery is a killer for me, rest i can still live with.

    • No dial band WiFi?
I's hard to believe they found a chipset that doesn't support 5GHz!

    • No nfc.

      • it has NFC

        • Ok, sorry, I remember looking in Dick Smith last year and they said no NFC , same with Oppo, no NFC in them.
or maybe I looked at the P8.

        • @PVA: there are 2 different models a 32GB 3GB RAM Model this one and a 16GB 2GB RAM Model which I think is the one ds sells :) maybe that might be it

  • +2

Compare with Redmi Note 3, I think Redmi has better price and better camera.

  • +1

Good phone, simliar to the P8 but honestly not in teh ball park on price! All those 2015 flagships will come down to $400-500 over the next month

    • +1

desperately waiting for the day :D

  • G8 or P8? Which one's better?

    • G8 is bigger screen n bigger battery. I have P8 and its awesome.

    • Performance Wise I'd say the P8.. the Snapdragon 615 is a mid-range chip.

    • Probably wait for Xiaomi MI5 which was launched yesterday, if you don't care for warranty.

    • I chose the P8, I prefered the form factor and the P8 benchmarks slightly higher.

  • wouldn't the OPPO R7s be a better buy for the same price?

    http://search.dicksmith.com.au/search#w=r7s

4GB ram, expandable memory up to 128GB, VOOC flash charging, 8MP selfie cam
pretty sure it comes bundled with a case and the screen protector is already applied too

choice of gold & silver too

    thoughts?

    • Definitely..
Add to that much better local support (there's a rep that posts daily to the Oppo thread on Whirlpool) and Custom ROM's

      • R7s is $423 at DS. Havent seen any custom ROM for the R7s (yet) though.

        • +1

The R7 series is getting an official Marshmallow release based on AOSP, called Project Spectrum.
Once that drops, you can expect Devs to pick it up and start hacking.

  • Does anyone know how this compares with LG G4 and iPhone 6 from user experience perspective? Wife wants iPhone but I think it is not worth spending $1100 where she will use more memory for photos & videos.
I have LG G4 which has excellent camera but has battery issues, but I think it is still worth it over iPhone.

    • +2

Your wife is not rational. She wants an iphone because her friends have one.

Lol at thinking you can talk technology sense into her. Go on, buy her a G4. And report back to us how happy she is with your decision.

  • +1

a phone with snapdragon 615 doesn't worth this amount of money.

  • G4 safeway forme until it self bricked on marshmallow update. I'mgoing back to apple……
