Digital Ear Thermometers- Which One to Buy?

just deciding on which Digital Ear Thermometer I should buy. It seems there's quite a pricing difference in the different types you can get atm. Prices range from $20 to $100 and beyond. There's the Brauhn brand and Omron brands - 2 of the most popular ones. Obviously supposed to be good as they are the $100 mark ones. Then there are some that are mid-range. This is where I'm confused? How do I know which one is good and worth it for the price I will pay? Or is it more of a hit-and-miss type thing. I've read reviews about 'Omron' brand, and it is mixed! some people say it's good others say it's just a waste of money.

  • Buy the cheapest. Maybe the most expensive will tell you within 1/1000th of a degree but really the question is whether you have a temperature or not. The cheapest will tell you that just as well as the most expensive.

I have the green brauhn one. I got it from Chemist Warehouse at the time because it was the cheapest place to buy it. It's been fantastic and it's the one they use in hospitals and at the GP's office. I'd recommend it.

  • Can only comment on the Braun Ear Thermometer IRT4520 as this is what we use and have had for a few years now. We purchased ours off ebay from a UK store and it has worked flawlessly. Perfect for using with kids at you get a ready very quickly. If you get this stock up on filters so you are not caught out when you really need them.

For replacement filters buy them online as they are waaaaay cheaper than locally. Our last lot was purchased from ebay.
